Trying to decide on feat and 5th level spells. Any ideas?
Does anyone want me to attempt to create a wand (Alamin also) or wondrous item for them?
Took Aklo as new language and moved my skills with new bonuses of headband.
** spoiler omitted **
Wondrous item? Heck yeah!
What are the limits on that? Got GP burning a hole through my coin purse...
:D
Randtam |
Limits are I need to have the spell or spells. Hence the purchase of the scroll Fox Cunning to create the headband. Some items are level dependent...must have double level than the ability modifier for some items or how high I can make the modifier. Let me know what you want. I won't charge you too much:):):)
Cannot make armor or weapons now, unless I take it as my new feat.

We had a +1 Falchion (2075) that might have been sold. I am perfectly fine with you saving 2000 GP and then add keen to the weapon. Might be a GM decision since I did sell everything except for Lens of Detection.
We all return 519 GP if you get the +1Falchion.

5th level spells
Summon Monster V
Teleport
Cloudkill seemed to do a decent job of kicking our asses in the last battle
At some point you may want to take "Permanency". At 10th level you can cast "Darkvision" and "See Invisibility" on yourself and make them permanent.

selling my rod of flame extinguishing at 85% = 12,750 gp
Enhancing Mithril Shirt to +3 = 8400 gp
Enhancing Cloak of Resistance to +2 = 3150 gp
Bracers of Archery Lesser = 5250 gp
Vraxel |
whatever you guys want, would be 3187 gp, 5 sp each

Does Randtam have the forge ring feat? Lots of rings I'd like to have...
Alamin Silvergleam |
Headband of mental prowess looks super awesome, but I'm going to drop Vraxel's rod money into making my shield +2. AC now 28.
Vraxel |
i'm gonna change some stuff up from previous post, will let you know soon
Vraxel |
Gonna leave the armor at +1
Gonna bump the cloak of resistance to +3
picking up Efficient Quiver too

Randtam, I'm taking Haste. As that's the only 3rd level spell I can take, that means I have 4 castings of it and nothing else. So take that into account when picking your 3rd level spells.

I am wondering about how an Improved Familiar works. Are they with me all the time? Can I dismiss them and they return when I choose?
If Randtam is walking with his friends is the familiar hanging out with him....
In a tavern...."Give me your strongest draft, ignore the creature perched on my shoulder."
I honestly do not understand how it works. My next feat could be IF but I am not sure how it works in our adventure.

Question: if I use a Metamagic feat...example +'1 level.
So if I want to use Fireball (3rd level). I set up my spells for the day fireball would be considered a 4th level spell for the day.
So I use fireball. Do I lose both the third and fourth spot because I moved fireball up one Metamagic level? Or do I only lose the fourth level spot and still keep the third?

My understanding is that you keep any third level but burn a 4th level slot to cast a 3d level spell.

I can't take credit. Stolen from Stephen King's Dark Tower series.

I should be good for May 7. Probably should send email to see if the tax man is still good with that day.
Randtam |
Keeping track of goods...if you want something ask for it. I assume we are splitting up the CMW pots right away. We had 10, I used 1, so 9 left. Everyone takes 2 and Randtam will have 3. Looks like I am going to need them. I also have 1 of the Nat Arm +1.

Have not chosen 9th level feat...ideas?
Two choices unless you have a better choice
1)Meta magic persistency spell. Cost 2 spell slots above, must reroll saving throw.
2) Opposition school...cast the massive amounts of Necromancy spells I have without loss of slots. Chose Necromancy as opposition school when I chose conjuration.

Strongly recommend against taking Necromancy school. Dabbling in that would probably push Alamin out of the party.

Interesting Alamin thinks this way. Necromancy does not equal horrible wizard.
Every spell, weapon, personality, feats, abilities that defeats the Whisphering Way should be accepted.

The description from pathfinder:
Necromancy Arcane School
The dread and feared necromancer commands undead and uses the foul power of unlife against his enemies.
We are desperately trying to stop folks using that exact school of magic from doing horrible things.
You sound like Boromir arguing to use the One Ring....
Randtam |
All necromancy spells are not evil. Spells weaken enemies who want to kill us. Animate dead and such might be considered wrong or evil. But what does it take to make sure the party is safe. The spells are not inherently wrong, how they are used is different.

Boromir: ‘Why do you speak ever of hiding and destroying? Why should we not think that the Great Ring has come into our hands to serve us in the very hour of need? Wielding it the Free Lords of the Free may surely defeat the Enemy. That is what he most fears, I deem. ‘(...) Let the Ring be your weapon, if it has such power as you say. Take it and go forth to victory!’
When you are willing to use the worst weapons of an enemy against them in the name of 'good' then you become more like them (at least in part) and lose some portion of what you are fighting for.
I think this this falls along the lines of torturing terrorists, chemical warfare, etc. Or in RPG terms summoning devils/demons or something along that line.
There are lines that Alamin is willing to cross; this isn't one of them. For better or worse she is the righteous blade of Sarenrae and will defeat the foe on goddesses terms.
Of course that is Alamin's position as a character and I can easily roll up another NPC. I'm much more willing to bend on a great many things: 'I say we take off and nuke them from space. It's the only way to be sure..."

Destroy the Whispering Way. They killed the Professsor. They are undermining the world. They are destroying our existence. Why not use their tools against them? Do we wish to end the Way. Is there an individual who will make the necessary sacrifices and endure the internal agony that will come with the true decision.

I think the descriptor that Alamin cites above is the description of those that choose to specialize in the necromancy school, not just someone that uses a necromancy spell.
Randtam is not a a necromancer, if he chooses the feat he will just be able to cast necromancy spells without a penalty. Right now he can still cast necromancy spells they just take up 2 spell slots.
I don't see a problem with it.
About Necromancy Magic
Necromancy spells manipulate the power of death, unlife, and the life force. Spells involving undead creatures make up a large part of this school.
As further proof that necromancy is not purely evil, the necromancy sub school "life" has the following descriptor:
Associated School: Necromancy.
Replacement Powers: The following school powers replace the power over undead and grave touch powers of the necromancy school.
Healing Grace (Su): Whenever you cast a spell that has targets, affects creatures in an area, or requires an attack roll, you may heal creatures affected by the spell a total of 1 point of damage per level of the spell. This healing may be spread out between the targets of the spell in any way you choose. If you assign any of the healing to an undead creature, it instead takes 1 point of damage for each point assigned. At 11th level, the amount of damage cured increases to 2 points of damage per level of the spell. This healing occurs when the spell is cast and has no effect on creatures that enter its area after the spell is in place. At 20th level, the amount of damage cured increases to 3 points of damage per level of the spell.
Share Essence (Sp): As a standard action, you can share your vital energy with a living creature that you touch. You take 1d6 points of nonlethal damage + 1 for every two wizard levels you possess. You cannot take an amount of nonlethal damage equal to or greater than your current hit point total; any excess is prevented. The recipient gains a number of temporary hit points equal to the amount of damage you received (prevented damage is not counted). These temporary hit points disappear 1 hour later. You may not use this ability to grant yourself temporary hit points. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Intelligence modifier. This ability has no effect if you are immune to nonlethal damage.
