This thread is where we can talk about rules, mechanics, out-of-character, and so on. Before we get started, if you have any questions or concerns, I'll do my best to address them.
If you've done a play-by-post before, you're probably familiar with formatting. Generally I use "bold" type for character dialogue, italics for inner monologue, emphasis, etc.
Actions and dice descriptors usually look like this:
Swim 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 for skill checks.
Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 for to hit rolls.
Damage 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 for damage rolls.
And so on. Use spoiler tags
Remember, this is a pretty light and fun module. Have some fun role-playing these goblin characters, and everything should work out pretty well (hopefully)!

Also, it's incredibly helpful to put the information for your character into the forum profile (you can do this through the edit profile screen) so I can see stats at a glance by clicking on your alias image.
I'll still have all of it written down or saved somewhere.
Gameplay thread is up. Once everybody posts here with all their info updated, aliases and pics sorted out, we can start going really whenever you guys want to at this point.

I have made a profile page, with an alias and a link to the character sheet. I feel all competent now.
We shall see how long that lasts once Ekklub has to start fighting things!
As for the posting requirement: I can manage 1/day most of the time, but sometimes I have to travel for work. I'll know about that enough in advance (usually) to give warning. Also, weekends are busy as I'm organising getting married, and if I only manage one post in a weekend I hope that'll be OK! If it isn't, please get one of the alternates in now rather than letting me hold up the game.

I'm not going to be draconian about posting frequency - I just wanted to emphasize it in the recruitment thread, since PbP games can get stalled out sometimes. Post when you can, and as frequently as your schedule allows - it's just a guideline, after all. :)
I'll be posting in the gameplay thread later tonight.

Hey, uh, does my readied charge not go off? If not, why?
I'm waiting for everyone to post actions so I can resolve them in initiative order in one post. Mukluk, you hit on the d20 roll without any modifiers anyways (horses don't have high AC) but I'll still treat it as a charge if you want.
Since we're doing this without a grid, I have to be kind of generous about move actions, and a little looser about things like flanking, etc.Mukluk Ronkunk |
Hey, all. I'm going to be heading to Paris for Wednesday-Monday for a technical workshop. I might be able to post in the evenings and will try to do so, but I can make no guarantees. Please NPC Mukluk if necessary. Some things to keep in mind: Mukluk will always charge if given the chance, especially at a larger creature. This is a more lighthearted module and I won't be terribly upset if this leads to his end—it'll probably be more comical than anything else. Also, when charging thusly, if he's the first one in melee with the target, he gets a total of +6 on the attack roll. Thanks!

Sorry about the several day delay guys, I hadn't realized that three days has passed since last posting - I'll try to keep up a daily posting routine from here on out.
We're getting close to the conclusion of this adventure path as written, but if you guys would like to keep going, I can come up with another short adventure that basically comes directly out of the Jade Regent background. Let me know if you'd be interested.

So with a few more posts, it looks like the actual written part of We Be Goblins is drawing to a close.
I know the game kind of lost some momentum when I went AWOL for a bit, so that's my fault. Other than that though, I thought you guys were great players. If you would like to continue with these characters, I suppose I could do that, but I'm actually going to try running an adventure path via play by post, so I'd like to focus my attention on that.
Right now I have at least the first volume for Council of Thieves, Carrion Crown, Jade Regent, and Skull and Shackles. This adventure ties in kind of neatly with Jade Regent, and I've been reading it over and over lately.
Of course, you are all invited to make some characters and join the campaign. I'll post some more info in a week or two.
Also, if you have any feedback, both positive and negative, I'd like to know how I can improve as a DM. Sometimes I feel like I need to be a little more hands-off with a play by post, but it's tricky providing enough detail in this format without it turning into a novel. Also, I tended to look up and double check things pretty rigorously...right up until the end, when I was basically making stuff up in combat. Sorry about that if it went poorly. If I do an adventure path, I'm going to stick by the book and the rules a little better.
Oh, and thanks again. This was my first time doing a game on the Paizo forums, and it was fun!
