Round 1

Why exactly are we attempting to stop them from destroying this machine? Especially given your theories about this museum? And the organ outside?

Not sure what is attacking me, so not sure how to describe the reaction, but will attempt a Dodge.

Dodge (60): 1d100 ⇒ 57
Regular Success

Tom, quiet up until now, stops as Atum turns to leave. Run? I think not. He leaps and punches the nearest foe, attempting to put him on his heels.

Fighting (Brawl) (60): 1d100 ⇒ 25

Sorry, posting will still be slow, but I should be able to keep up for the most part.

Dodge (45): 1d100 ⇒ 38

"How in the name of Hades did the moon just come up and where have all the other museum goers gone to? Is that stuff real dynamite?

Phaedra looks about, wondering what she can possibly do to help this situation.

Is there any source of water around?

Violet's Map!

Okay, the confusion is to be expected on our first try.

  • First, the idea is that if your name is in bold a post is needed from you.
  • Second, it only makes sense to make a dodge roll if an enemy attacks you. In which case, the enemies name on top will UN-EMBOLDEN and your name on the bottom row will EMBOLDEN. are thouse even words?
  • Third,Atum, my apologies! I had your name in bold but you are outside, not in combat yet. So you are welcome to post whatever you wish. Until
    the Barrel organ gets up.
  • Fourth, Phaedra, yes! There is a fire hose hookup on the south wall with a big wheel valve on it. A HARD SUCCESS in STR to turn the valve...

so I think we are here...
    round tag! Round 1
    In dex order...
Action posts needed from: Atum, Howy, Phaedra, Eloise, Badguys, Tom, James
Fight back Or Dodge post needed: Atum, Howy, Phaedra, Eloise, Badguys VS Tom, Tom, James

  • James takes a moment to look around at the oddities, confused, before quickly turning to look at the men with the dynamite. Damnit, if there wasn't a dirty copper... He touched his hand to his hidden holster before stomping calmly towards the fight.

"'lright you wankers, drop the dynamite, NOW!"

He was ready to pull out his revolver any second, but at the moment, he focused on trying to intimidate the men, making his voice as loud as possible and pointing to the ground.

Intimidate: 1d100 ⇒ 37 vs. 60. Normal success. Let me know if I did that wrong!

    Round 2

I'm operating under the assumption that they didn't just let us wander into a museum with firearms. Or is this shift to night putting us with steampunk gear again?

I would recommend a focus on the strange things going on outside. Dynamite seems the least of our concerns.

He will then move to try to take cover from anything approaching from outside if possible.

    If necessary.
    Dodge (60): 1d100 ⇒ 59
    Regular Success

@Atum, no not in the steampunk world yet, but the spacetime of each world is beginning to helix around eachother if you must know! hahah!

Mackenzie turns toward the humming coming from the back room to the east. Hemsdale's machine. The veil between the worlds is thinning again... She appears to be talking to herself, and slowly she starts to walk toward that room.

if you choose to withdrawl from the fight and move toward the east room with Mackenzie you can.

    Violet's Map!

    ***************
    Atum outside
    ***************
If you had any doubts before, they are gone now. The Barrel Organ begins to toot and horn. Shuddering, it's sides and top split. Its brass pipes poke out its sides and bend unnaturally into eight spidery legs. It's two clash-cymbals move to it's front as though they were eyes. For a moment the living machine "looks" around with these eyes before spotting you! Tooting and horning an ominous chaotic music, the machine begins to chitter toward you, up the steps...

will you fight the creature yourself? Escape back into the museum? Try to run past it?

    Dodge! 1d100 ⇒ 23

    Eloise

Eloise' ears prick up and she elects to follow MacKenzie.

Atum attempts to shout to the men with the dynamite while running off into another part of the museum.

You may want to throw that thing outside!

Not sure if there is a skill for determining how large the dynamite blast will be, but just trying to take cover from it while being out of line of sight of the living machine.

    If necessary.
    Dodge (60): 1d100 ⇒ 58

Phaedra is also curious enough to follow MacKenzie into the other room.

    IN THE MAIN MUSEUM
    ************************
Blair, the old man in charge of these ludite terrorists, wheels around and hollars back at Atum from near the front entrance: Don't you be telling the luddites their business, foreign ilk! We are here to...oh my GOD!

Blair stops short, for skittering it's way quickly in through the front entrance of the museum is the monsterous spider-barrel-organ!

    Blair has no time to react 1d100 ⇒ 50 VS blair dodge: 1d100 ⇒ 60 for 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 the monster tramples him, stomping his brains all over the marble floor.

The other luddites scream. Two make for the entrance, trying to circle round and get away from the monster.

But the third poor man, the one with the dynamite, sanity 6/2d6: 1d100 ⇒ 40 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4 freezes with fright. Atum watches in horror as the dynomite fuse burns it's way into the stick and then

    KABOOM!

Blood and fire and guts all over.

The Barrel Organ monster begins tearing the museum displays apart, drinking oil from the machines and crunching on steam-engine gears as though they were cookies...

    ***********************************************
IN THE SPECIAL DISPLAY ROOM: "FORGOTTEN DREAMS"
    ***********************************************
The sound of the explosion from the other room is deafening. Debris from the ceiling rains down, but mostly harmless dust and chunks of ceiling tile.

As you recover from the ringing in your ears you find yourself in a room filled with all sorts of odd machines in glass cases - inventions from the past century that never saw the light of day.

One particular machine in such a glass case about the size of a refrigerator is "humming". A purplish hue can be seen glowing on several steel orbs portruding from it, and lazy rivers of plasma play between them and the glass of the case.

    regular success INT or IDEA:
You've seen this machine before! It's an perfect scaled down replica of the giant terrifying machine in your dream. You know, the one that had a face, a face in the steam and that tried to kill you all!

    GN Female half-elf gunslinger 1; Fort +4, Ref +5, Will +2; AC 16, touch 13, flat-footed 13; hp 13 (1d10+3)

Mackenzie stands before this machine, mesmerized like a bug by a bug-zapper. She stares at the case's lock.

This is it. One-hundred years of toil and death. And now you are all here. This is our one chance. Please, everyone, please come closer.

Mackenzie glances nervously around the room at all the other machines in cases.

Before all of these other machines begin to dream too...

    Eloise

    Int(60): 1d100 ⇒ 16
"Thats...from the dream." Eloise breathes, and regains her composure "Perhaps my dear, you could see fit to explain what is going on - and quickly."

I assume that there's not much laying around, but Eloise will glance around to see if there's any way the door can be secured.

Atum is going to try to stay out of line of sight of the mechanical monster while moving through the museum. He'll try to stay within sight of a window to try to keep tabs on the situation outside, but is more focused on avoiding the moving organ while he moves to try to join the others.

Howy looks at the scene before him dumbfounded, "How... how is that possible?"

    INT 1d100 ⇒ 66

"By jove you are right woman, I did see that contraption in a nightmare just the past night hence but how could you have seen what is in my dreams?!" he asks turning to Eloise.

    GN Female half-elf gunslinger 1; Fort +4, Ref +5, Will +2; AC 16, touch 13, flat-footed 13; hp 13 (1d10+3)

Mackenzie pulls on the glass door of the case holding the machine, but a brass padlock holds it firmly shut.
Help me! We've got to get this thing open...

    Eloise

"I'm not sure, but something caused a shared dream - I'm not sure how many were affected, but at least myself and my companions.
    [TAG Howie]

"Can any of you gentlemen pick a lock?" Eloise calls out louder.
    [Tag All]

Atum will look around for anything that appears heavy and solid enough to be used as a crowbar. Assuming no one else is attempting to pick the lock, he will simply try to pry it open.

    Strength (50): 1d100 ⇒ 84

    Failure

Howy will look at the case and lend a hand in attempting to pry open the case.

    Strength (50) 1d100 ⇒ 22

    Fighting (Brawl) (60): 1d100 ⇒ 3

Tom throws up an arm into the path of the man's blow and swings back. Much as I like a good fight. I think we might want to run, he says, as he sees the large mechanical thing headed their way. When the other man takes off running, Tom almost looks surprised and stops for a moment. He then realizes where he is and what's going on and bolts after the others.

    Int (60): 1d100 ⇒ 6

Well now, that thing certainly looks familiar! He seems to have the same idea as Atum and starts looking around for something to break the glass.

Sorry it took so long to post!
