Eloise is the third child, and eldest daughter of the Cartwright family, a wealthy and staunchly imperial family who have old money, combined with enough savvy and power to build more on the back of the British Empire.
Though little enough of that interests Eloise. She is a child of the age, brought up on fanciful tales of dashing swordsmen, and thrilling adventures, and preferring to play with the tin soldiers and play-swords of her brothers than listen to lessons on needlepoint, elegance and the art of attracting a husband.
Her parents (or rather the governess and other staff who's care she was relegated to) have tried desperately to change her boyish image, and she can play the part of the eligible heiress when forced into it, but she's resisted the loss of her sense of adventure.
She is now 22 and through endless wheedling and nagging has convinced her parents to let her stay in a townhouse, out from under their feet. Though they are providing only minimal staff and finances to her, compared to the luxury of living in the Country estate in Yorkshire, where she spent most of her childhood.
Her parents made it no secret to her that until she can find herself a proper betrothal or comes home to learn to be a proper lady she can expect nothing more from them.
Eloise duly spends her stipend on private tuition in swordplay and riflemanship.
Appearance
Eloise is fairly compact, standing little over 5' tall and with an almost boyish figure. Her hair is a deep brown/black colour and her skin is pale, though has a tendency to freckle when she spends too much time in the sun.
