Tutorial:

ANY TIME you are attacked in Call of Cthulhu you decide how to react. You can either DODGE or FIGHT BACK.

if you decide dodge... Roll your DODGE. The badguy must have rolled better than your Level of Success or you dodge and take no damage.

if you fight back... Roll the FIGHT skill you are fighting back with. If you roll a higher level of success than you fend off the attack AND do damage of your own! However, if you fail the roll, the you take the damage.
