Caves do also go down
"Dark magic.. The dead rising.. It sounds like you have seen something. What do you know?"
"what other explanation for this do you have? Disturbed earth where bodies were buried, no trace of who did this. If you are all this naive i fear you will not last long in Ustalav."
Calistria the Courier |
Calistria wrinkles her nose at the idea.
"Generally, disturbing the dead isn't something people take kindly, too. Especially priests of the Dark Lady. Still..."
Calistria glances around the graveyard.
"The night is a time of wonder. When we should look to the stars and feel awe and joy. The undead make us cower in fear in our homes. If they are here... better to be wrong and ask forgiveness than be right and have people die because we didn't act."
Voryn Chaldov |
"Aye. I agree, Lady Calistria. I'm sure no one will mind. After all we're checking for the undead! Our cause is just."
Voryn goes to find a piece of wood suitable for digging with (a wooden plank from the mill or a thick branch or whatever) and begins digging.
Calistria the Courier |
While others dig, Calistria approaches the bandits.
"I'm sorry we have to keep you like this." the cleric of Densa says, quite sincerely. "But we need to understand what is happening here so we can stop it if need be. Before someone or their family are hurt or killed. Surely, you each have families to think of. Children, perhaps, or nieces and nephews? Please, help us. If you know anything at all about this graveyard and what is happening here tell me. Please."

"never seen this place before in my life."
Hailey Besh |
"Naturally I must make a report. Even to tell my church this much is important. But we definitely shouldn't split up now. I suggest we tell the baron, right away. Oh yes, first of all, I'd better get my proof. First show the baron, then send it to the archbishop."
Since she did collect some of the rotting flesh, she will collect it and put in whatever she can find to contain it.
Sir Rois Grave |
"I agree. This needs to be reported. I will be writing to my order as well. But, for now, we need to take these men to the baron to meet their justice. We cannot face undead while we have the prisoners. They will only get in the way." Rois looks disdainfully at the captives, Their weakness and fear will cost lives...I can feel it.
GM - anything from my know local check?

As far as you are aware, this cemetery hasn't been used in years.
Garekk |
I am sorry I haven't posted through all that.. work went to hell yesterday after lunch, and then the servers were down last night..
Garekk rouses himself from his stupor and catches up with the conversation.. yes.. the flesh seems to be a good indication of what's going on here.. I think that going to the priest and then the baron would be best though.. he asked Cali to come out here in the first place, and it's on the way. He might have some more information too.
Vorelloex Vaecaesin |
Vorelloex growls.
"Then let us be rid of this place!"
He is wholly uncomfortable in this disturbed holy ground.
His nose wrinkles as if he were about to sneeze, his brow reminiscent of a rabid dog.
SOOO, how do we know when the servers will be down? this day was so dismal... I don't want to lose pace with this game lol
Garekk |
the servers were down last night because paizo lost power in a really bad storm that hit the north east yesterday
Calistria the Courier |
I had JUST hit SUBMIT POST when the servers went down. My whole move was lost. :)
Calistria claps her hands in agreement.
"Yes. We should get back and warn people. The Baron may have to send runners to homes near the cemetery to warn then of the possibility of danger."
She pauses, then glances around again.
"If the undead aren't in their graves then they've moved on. I realize with the rain it will be difficult but shouldn't we look for tracks to see which way they went?"
Garekk |
Garekk rounds up the prisoners and checks their bindings, securing any that may have come loose. "All good here

It looks like Paizo made Gozreh angry...

You arrive back at Silvam mid-afternoon. The prisoners were surprisingly little trouble on the way there. In Silvam you can see that the village is getting ready for the last big market day before everything shuts down for the winter. Stalls are being set up, carts are everywhere, and you are guessing that the village's population will at least double by morning.
Calistria the Courier |
"They thought the villagers would be distracted." Calistria mumbles as she looks at merchants going about setting up for market. "By just market day? Or by something bound to happen during market day?"
Sir Rois Grave |
"Let's not dally and get these men to the baron. Then, maybe we can get some answers at last."
Then he adds, "Careful not to let the people get too close. Men in chains brings out grief and anger in others. They may try to attack or abuse our prisoners."
Swift-Palm |
Wary of all of the merchants and patrons of the market, Swift makes his way through the village with his party.
"Yes, our number one priority is to take these men back to the baron. The quicker we can do that the better. We must put one foot in front of the other. We would do well not to stumble in our efforts."
Hailey Besh |
"Personally, if I were planning an attack on the people, or on their homes, I could think of no better time than when everyone is assembled together. I said if! I want to see something like that that, I mean see to it that something like that never ever happens! Enough words. Let us go to the baron. But a good word real quick with whomever is in charge of security here, just so they'd have a warning to beware of trouble, probably wouldn't go amiss."
Sir Rois Grave |
"I would rather not trust something as important as this to some messenger. The information we have may be sensitive and I mean to bring it to the right ears."
Am I missing something? Is there some reason we cannot visit the priest and the baron both? If there is, please do tell...
Hailey Besh |
It was suggested that we should go straight to the baron and give him the prisoners, then come back and speak to the baron. Hailey didn't make the suggestion, she just added that it might be wise to tip off security. Then she had the idea that whomever we told could tell the priest for us.
Calistria the Courier |
"Perhaps we can ask the father to join us." Calistria points out. "After all, the report on the cemetery should be given to both him and the Baron. Shall I run off and find him, then meet you there?"
Sir Rois Grave |
Reviewing...
-We need to talk to the priest because he asked us to check out the cemetery.
-We need to talk to the baron because he wanted us to take care of the bandits. MISSION COMPLETE!
I suggest that we finish what we started with the baron then tackle the stuff with the priest. We can inform a guard captain along the way, of course.
Swift-Palm |
"If we were to advise the security, perhaps we should be a bit vague. It would not be wise to start a panic for nothing."
Sir Rois Grave |
"If we were to advise the security, perhaps we should be a bit vague. It would not be wise to start a panic for nothing."
"We also do not want to take authority away from the baron. From what I have heard, nobility like to be in charge."
Calistria the Courier |
"Really, I don't think one of us going for the Father will be a problem." Calistria insists. "With the prisoners the bulk of will be slower. You go ahead. I'll find the good father and meet you there."
With that, Calistria walks away. She isn't senseless, though. She asks those she passes for directions to where Father Bayan might be and follows them.
High wisdom but poor impulse control. As a cleric of Desna, Calistria hates staying still. :)
Swift-Palm |
Swift let's out a visible sigh at the mention of nobility.
"Yes. The nobility are known for being many things. And I would say you are right on the mark, sir Rois."
The monk readjusts his backpack and makes sure all his things are in order. He doesn't seem to want to discuss the matter of nobility any further.
Voryn Chaldov |
@Calistria - Bayan should be easy to locate
The center of the village is a small square where a north-south and east-west road meet. Their is a decent sized, old stone church on the east side, with Bayan's house across the east road from it. Several shops and businesses fill the adjacent area, the most important of these being a tavern in the south-east corner and a large blacksmith's shop beside it. Source
So the party splits up. Calistria goes to find Bayan and the rest of us goes to the Gelu House, right?
Calistria the Courier |
In needed, here's a Diplomacy check to Gather Information on Bayan's whereabouts at the moment. Sure, there's the church right there, but he might not BE there. :)
Diplomacy for Gather Information: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Garekk |
"It will only be a moment before Calistria gets back.. Lets wait here and she will rejoin us." Garekk says, not wanting to split the party any further. "I know we need to get the prisoners to the baron, but the needs of the many are important as well.. we have undead walking from their graves and bandits alluding to people being distracted and upcoming plans. I really think that a couple of moments may benefit us all"
