Sure. Doing the same. Voryn is neutral, doesn't think Josep is paying enough for the job, as a bow enthusiast, he truly wants such a good bow, and he thinks it's only fair that the party gets to keep the bandits' weapons.

as adventurers you might no be thrilled with the pay, but for the average peasant a few days work for over a gold in cash and possibly some valuable (to them) items is amazing
Calistria the Courier |
"If things are bad to the north, the baron probably has to count his coins carefully to make sure his people make it through the coming season." Calistria points out. She walks over to Voryn and touches his arm gently.
"It could be some other hunter is missing this bow as much as you would miss it, were it your's. Why don't we see if it has an owner before we claim it. What separates us from bandits is our willingness to do the right thing."
Calistria smiles brightly.
"And I think you're a good man, Voryn."
Voryn Chaldov |
Voryn ponders Calistria's words, then nods in agreement.
"I suppose. But I'll hold on to it until we return to the baron."
Voryn then proceeds to walk in a circle around the captive bandits.
"My, my. What do we have here? Remember me lads?" Voryn's scarred face turns grim and menacing, as he stares into the eyes of the leader of the bandits.
"You better be glad that my friends here wanted to take yall alive and unharmed..."
Voryn makes a move, as he is about to slap the leader of the bandits, then holds his hand just before impact.
"You thieving scum! You better tell me everything! Right now! Why are you stealing and harassing and making life even more misserable than it has to be for already hard-pressed honest folk!? You better have a goood answer!" he bellows.

actually asking a question might help you get an answer.
"it is kind of hard to forget someone as big, ugly and stupid as you," the leader says.
Edit: And why not take from people too weak to defend themselves, if guys hadn't shown up while Stev, roshan and Bosilov were away hunting you would have been the ones in trouble."
Browman |
"So, we have more thieves to catch. Will they be smart and surrender like you, or, will my half elf friend get his wish?"
"we would have been fine if you hadn't used some form of enchantment on my friends. You people claim I am in the wrong yet you willingly work with a warlock who can enchant one with just his voice, or have you enchanted your companions as well?"
Vorelloex Vaecaesin |
"Uh, I don't think we have a warlock friend... Except for maybe the short one. Wait, Rois, you're a warlock?!"
Vorelloex is confused. Vorelloex hurts himself in his confusion!

Just want to clarify - Is he trying to say that I am a warlock? That there is a warlock in our party? Or, is the Barron a warlock?
he is trying to claim that you are a warlock using spells to control people, his friends, the other PCs. How else could you have convinced his friends to surrender?
Voryn Chaldov |
"You have no idea what kind of powers me and my compatriots command, you pathetic piece of dung!" Voryn plays along with the bandit leader's suggestion that Sir Rois is a warlock.
He then leans in close to the leader's ear and whispers:
"You better be very, very glad that the two of us are not alone right now. I would much sooner scalp you than hand you over to the baron alive, and I'm sure the baron wouldn't mind either. Actually, I'm pretty sure he'll have had your hands cut off this time tomorrow. Serves you right."
He leans back and looks from bandit to bandit.
"And the sorry lot of you, hah! Even with your other friends, you wouldn't stand a living chance against us. Speaking of your friends, now that you mentioned them, they'll be treated to a nice little surprise when they return back from their hunting."
He looks to the other members of the party. "Let us set up an ambush in the old mill and wait for the other bandits to return."

"I can see that his fell powers have worked wonders on you to be willing to associate so closely with a practitioner of the dark arts." he turns to Sir Rois, "How does it feel to control a flesh-puppet so completely that he attacks without a word from you."
Sir Rois Grave |
Rois jabs the one prisioner with the butt of his spear. Then, to Voryn,"Then we should do so. Vorel may wish to help...if two nights ago was any indication. I will bring the prisoners inside the mill where they cannot be seen and watch them."
Hailey Besh |
That doesn't seem to be much of a battle, Hailey thinks to herself. Good on him, though, for getting them to surrender without so easily. Of course, this leaves me with more questions. What if there are others? Shouldn't someone remain here in case they have cohorts who come looking for them? Or else, perhas, could these people know anything about the undead?
"Stev, Roshin, and Boshilov, you say? She reveals the crossbow, so that the men may well understand her intention to enforce her questions. "Beware he who is weak against you today, for he may be stronger than you, and vengeful, tomorrow. Or else, find champions who are. Tell me, if you would, are those three all that is left of your company, or do you have more? And what, exactly, were they off hunting? It might go much easier for you with the baron if you cooperate and tell us what we need to know."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
After this is over, whatever the result, Hailey will turn to the others. "Where do you want me and what would you like me to do?"
Voryn Chaldov |
How should be go about setting up a nice ambush? I was thinking a couple of men hidden inside the mill and a couple of men hidden outside, and then wait for them to enter the mill.

"That's up to them . . ."
Then she turns to the bandits again, holding out her hand.
"What's it going to be boys? Would you rather talk or have a touch of the power of death, en masse?"
Intimidation: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
No, it's her channel energy, but since she has the selective channel feat, she can use it on them without it harming any of you. Besides, it's only D6 damage. It won't kill them. But she can do it five times per day. A 'hex' or two might get them talking.

"what could something as weak as you do to us?" he laughs at your attempt to scare him before turning to Sir Rois "what use is such a tiny and weak flesh puppet to you?""
"if you let us go, my friends will not have to kill you when they return. "
Garekk |
Garekk finally breaks his silence as he watches the vengeful elf and obstinate thief. I believe that we should set the ambush as you say, Voryn. Let's put myself, Hailey, and Voryn outside, and the rest inside. But be sure to silence the thieves that they may not warn their friends.
Garekk |
Hailey, perhaps we should save that for later and get to cover.. come let us set the ambush and waste no more time
Voryn Chaldov |
While Sir Rois and Hailey Besh interrogated the captive bandits further inside the mill, Voryn carried the gear inside the mill. I assume the party is now gathered inside the mill
"Garekk is right. They can be here any minute."
He then proceeds to hide himself in a bush outside the mill, the composite longbow ready. taking 10 and adding +4 for 17
Sir Rois Grave |
Rois begins to gag the prisoners, tired of their ignorance. If they knew how many sorcerers, all good men and women, sacrificed themselves at Ustalav's border so they have the freedom to...to pillage...
He then tries the rope to a strong, weight barring post. He stands at attention, ready to knock any of the prisoners unconscious if they make too much noise.
Garekk |
Garekk moves to find cover, and readies his sword.
I am rather large and no ranks in stealth.. so I will take the 10+4 and pray for the best, but I would be trying my damndest to hide...

Garekk, half orc's are medium sized so you do not get any size penalties to stealth.
Swift-Palm |
Swift, surveying the nearby terrain while the party took care of the bandits Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 tries to look for some nice places to hide. Once the party is ready, he hides himself as well. Stealth: 10+4+2 = 16. On mobile, not sure if you want us to move ourselves to a hiding spot

"Psssst, Garekk. Maybe it'd be better if you hid inside. Swift is out here too, so we're enough people outside, and it's a bad spot you've found. I can easily see you from over here."
