I never met a half-orc who fantasized about sweeping a little gnome off her feet before. :) No harm or slight intended. I merely meant that since he was going to do it, but got trumped by the DM, that perhaps he just thought about picking up Hailey. Hence, a moment of fantasy combined with a harmless jest on my part.

awwww.... browman is killing all the fun! lol. Hailey, I took no offence at all. You just caught me off guard, but in a good way. If I may, stop being so concerned with offending everyone and just have fun! *pew pew!*

Isn't that my job? Also if you actually planned it out and designed a special harness it would probably go a lot better.

Initiative started because of Voryn's natural 1 on his stealth check. The bad guys know you are there. As I stated in the initiative post, when it gets to the first time you can post you are aware of the enemy. So right now the only one who can see the enemy is Sir Rois. Look at the map linked at the top for positions.
Edit: Also because I don't think I mentioned it before all green squares on the map are considered difficult terrain and provide cover (+4 AC) against any attack that goes through such a square. The grid area at the bottom of the map is the old mill and is difficult terrain and has cover from any attacks outside the mill.

Browman |

This cover can also be used to make stealth checks? Also, do you want us to move our own characters on the spreadsheet?
Yes and yes. A successful stealth check will prevent them from shooting/ charging you until you move or attack from that location. If for some reason you can't move your character give me the grid you want to move too and I will move you.

Sir Rois Grave |

ok. I think I have everything I need to start combat.
Rois pauses when he hears the loud crunch of bark. He glances over to see Voryn at him apologetically. Well, so much for a surprise attack. I can at least give these fellows a chance to turn themselves in...
Rois stands and walks forward, his spear held at the ready incase of an attack from the shadows. Double movement - 60ft
"Hail. I am Sir Rois of Lastwall, and a knight of Ozem. I have been sent here on behalf of the people of Ustalav. Return the stolen goods and turn yourselves in. Please, do not let this lead to violence...you will not survive." Free action. Diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
If anyone wants to, they can use this as a distraction to re-stealth and surround the bandits.

Make a diplomacy or Intimidation check, depending on if you want to reason with them, or scare them into complying.

"Stay there if you want to talk. We are willing to leave the items we have acquired here if you let us go. Advance any closer before we leave and we will defend ourselves."
You thing you can hear them debating quietly amongst themselves, but are too far away to make any of it out.
Well you at least prevented them from starting to shoot during the surprise round.
Swift-palm, Calistria and Sir Rois can all act before the bandits do anything else. After the bandits act again everyone will have a turn.

Vorelloex Vaecaesin |

if this is meta gaming forgive me, but how can we trust their word? They could just be running away... can we see them well enough to see if they put the stuff down?

Swift-Palm |

"Voryn and I have fought off similar fellows just yesterday, I would not trust them all too much. They might be taking opportunity of this conversation Sir Knight is having with them to surround us. It would be wise to do the same. Always prepare for the worse..."
Swift ducks from cover and makes a beeline for the terrain in front of him where I will move him to, trying to remain hidden while Sir Rois makes his speech.
"If we can resolve this without conflict, then all the better. However, I will not hesitate to bring these ruffians to justice if they try to injure my new friends"
Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 for moving without being seen.

You know you can move diagonally? so the move directly to you right then down wasn't needed.

Swift-Palm |

You know you can move diagonally? so the move directly to you right then down wasn't needed.
Yes, but in the end it would not change the results and I just wanted to be extra clear as to how I was moving. Next time I will go diagonally. It is my full-round action. Also, are the bandits in the buidling visible and are they on the ground level?

Yes they are on the ground level and yes you can see them. Though they have cover.

and, because it will probably come up soon...what are the local laws for armed robbery? What is the likely punishment they will receive?

the penalty for Theft is the loss of a hand, off hand if no one was seriously injured, dominant hand if someone was seriously injured. The penalty for murder which has not been committed up till this point is hanging.

Calistria the Courier |

Calistria nods her head in approval as Sir Rois attempts to negotiate with the bandits. She does not stand idle, however. Instead, she walks over to stand behind Voryn and places her hand on his back.
Since this is a surprise round, I've only got one action. I chose to move behind Voryn. I'm establishing the touch so it is easy for me to use my Luck Domain power on him next round.

Sir Rois Grave |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |

Oh, sorry.
Relieved that the bandits may come peacefully, but, cautious of any outcome, Rois continues to negotiate, "Agreed. I will not move. Release yourselves into my custody and surrender your weapons. Your hands will be bound. I promise that no harm will come to you. Attempting escape would be considered an attack on my person. Those are my terms. They are non-negotiable. But, if you concede, you will live through the night, and, Iomedae willing, many years to come." Full round action Diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

wow...
The one keeps talking about guarantees of safety and leaving the gear while they disappear. The other two seem to have realized that thy are out numbered and would likely be killed In a fight and come out with their hands up, throwing down an assortment of weapons. The third curses as he realizes that he can't resist on his own and follows suit.
Between them they have a +1 strength composite longbow with 20 arrows, a battle axe, a pair of hand-axes, a light crossbow with 15 bolts, a short sword, a longspear, 2 Javelins, 3 sets of studded leather, 2 bucklers.
They also indicate where in the mill the have stashed what items they have stolen. In the stash you find a bundle of treated animal skins, a small cask of beer and 1 gold piece, 14 silver pieces and 187 copper pieces.

Vorelloex Vaecaesin |

dibs on one of the leathers
Chisohk...
Vorel curses in his mother's tongue as he realizes there won't be any 'fun' events taking place in his immediate future. He is pleased at the haul and promise of fortune however, and takes it for what it's worth.
I WILL make your memory notorious, brother... Soon...

Sir Rois Grave |

Rois walks over to the bandits and ties they hands so that all bandits are on the same length of rope chain gang style. "Thank you for coming peacefully. I am glad to know that those on hard times still seek peace in Ustalav. Why banditry, if I may ask?"
Then, keeping his word, Rois turns to Calistria, "Calistria, will you please check them for injury. We do not want these fellows to have any unwanted pain or infection."

Browman |

"We were told that people would have other conc" one of them begins to say before being hit by one of the others and given a look to shut up.
The third bandit the one that didn't want to surrender then speaks, "bad harvests to the north have left many without food. I would be surprised if we are this only trouble this pathetic village sees this winter."

Sir Rois Grave |

Oh...interesting. I'll let someone else take over the negotiation. I don't want to hog all the spotlight.
Rois acts as guard, both protecting the prisoners and making sure they keep good on their promise.

Voryn Chaldov |

I'd love to have the bow if no one minds
While Rois ties up the bandits, Voryn retrieves the stash from inside the mill and lays it next to the equipment that the bandits have dropped. His eyes are immediately caught by the bow. He picks up the bow and holds it admiringly, inspecting it from different angles.
"What wonderful craftmanship. One does not come across such a beatiful bow everyday." He picks up the arrows too, and turns to the rest of the party.
"I will take this bow, if no one minds."
He then walks over to Rois and the bandits.
Are they the same bandits as he and Swift encountered the day before?

Calistria the Courier |

Calistria claps her hands in delight that the troubles ended peacefully. With the warriors standing guard, she moves among the prisoners, looking for wounds and providing aid where she can.
I won't expend spells unless it looks like someone has a dire injury.
Heal skill check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
"I suppose we'll need to visit the cemetery tomorrow." Calistria notes to the others as she applies a burn salve to one bandit.

Nothing serious.

Sir Rois Grave |

Rois turns to Voryn as he walks closer with his new shortbow, "Remember that the people have seven days to claim any stolen property."
Mind, Rois has no idea if the shortbow is among the stolen property or not...probably not.

Voryn Chaldov |

"I thought the stolen goods they had stashed inside the mill would suffice for the baron. With the little coin he is paying us for a dangerous job such as this, the brigands' weapons should be ours to claim."
It's a +1 composite longbow btw
