I was looking over my sheet, and I was thinking of swapping my Str and my Dex (making my Str 15 and Dex 14, so no stat changes), and swapping out Scorpion Style for Power Attack.

Yes I agree, once things are underway I won't make any modifications. I just figured I should let you know.
Also, are we assuming some of us know each other? I'm sure our characters have crossed paths at some point. Voryn seems like the kind of person Swift would enjoy being around :P Since Swift isn't a judgmental person, I think they would get along swimmingly XD

It is possible some of your characters have meet before. Likely any characters that have been in the village for more than a couple days know each other.

Perhaps Swift met Voryn in the wilderness on his way to Silvam. Maybe one or the other helped the other in a fight..

Sounds good to me! I'm not saying they are best buds, but they have met and get along well. Since Swift travels a lot they haven't exactly had much time to chill :P

Voryn Chaldov |

Maybe Voryn was out hunting, and on a road some bandits ambushed him. The bandits had him surrounded, looking to rob him of his breastplate and sword, taunting him, calling him a freak, and Swift overheard and joined the ensuing fight on Voryn's side, earning the gratitude of Voryn, who in turn suggested to guide Swift on a shortcut through the woods to Silvam.

Browman |

@Browman Where does Voryn usually sell his pelts and such? Can he be friends with Orn'Tos and Antal and Yamira?
The town has a tanner, other stuff would probably be sold to traveling merchants. People in the town would be used to seeing you, most are probably slightly suspicious of someone who can survive on their own outside of the village. So most people in the village won't invite you over for dinner, but they aren't grabbing their pitchforks either.

Calistria the Courier |

Calistria the Courier is ready to deliver mail and spread the joy of Desna to the world! Also, to battle evil. How do I do that neat "these are my stats" thing everyone has at the top of their posts?

Voryn Chaldov |

You need to set up a profile on your Calistria the Courier alias page. There will be a field called Classes/Levels. What you put in that field will show up as what you call the "these are my stats" thing at the top of your posts.

I would appreciate it if everyone who hasn't already done so could put their full character in the profile. Use the text box for the info dump.
Done! Let me know if I'm missing anything.

Rolled out and put together a half orc barbarian.. I will get it entered asap but paizo is blocked at work and 12 hour days suck. I can update from my phone, as I am now, but character building is a bit more than my phone can handle

Just to start, my beginning of a back story is that he was sent out from his tribe on a spirit quest to learn the about the natures of good and evil and his place amongst them.. and so ended up in one of the most evil places he could find.

Changed profile pic (obviously) and added a bit of background to get Rois into southern Ustalav.
EDIT: @Browman - what stat info do you want below our avatar name?

Excellent question, at a minimum AC including touch/ flat footed, saves, HP, Initiative bonus. I don't need or want a breakdown there of how you get to those numbers and that should be in the alias. It doesn't matter if it is spoilered or not as long as everything is clear. Anything else that is important can be added there as well. the barbarians might want to have a second set of numbers in a spoiler for when they are raging for example

Cools.
Since I'm a Longspear AoO build, I added the # of AoOs per riybs and my reach with the Longspear - because that will come up very frequently.

I am planning on posting the main updates daily around 1800-2000 eastern standard time. I will be able to post shorter updates at various times during the day as and if needed. I expect people to post daily, though I realize real life sometimes gets in the way. If you face a real life random encounter please take the couple minutes to post something saying so. Even a very quick "super busy with life, hope to have everything sorted by the weekend" post is better than nothing, I will always attempt to do the same.
Once the gameplay thread is up please try as much as possible to keep that thread in character. Use this thread for everything else.
If at any point in time things are unclear let me know either here or by PM.
I will be populating the campaign info tab later today with stuff.
I will be setting up a Google spreadsheet after work for keeping track of stuff. I plan to use that for maps, tracking XP and loot and anything else that needs to be tracked long term. A link will be provided in the campaign description just underneath the campaign title.
When combat starts I will roll initiative for everyone. I will keep the things I manage in groups to reduce initiative clutter. If several PCs have initiative before the next group I run then I don't care what order those players post in.
If things seem to be stalled waiting for someone to act; Post something, even saying "I look to Ser Rois for direction" will likely help things move. Similarly if you interact with an NPC or PC make it clear you are doing so.
Sorry if this post is a bit rambling, I am just trying to make things clear for everyone before things get rolling.

Looks good. I missed CMD in my list, good catch on that. And the AoO/ reach stuff is another good example of other important information to put there.
What does SM+5 represent?

Browman |

How will in-combat character movement be handled? Will there be an up-to-date map to check regularly? Or, will combat be more descriptive?
One tab of the Google spreadsheet will be a map that anyone can edit. I have found it works fairly easily even on mobile in campaigns I have participated in. It will linked once I have set it up. Particularly when someone has an AoO build or other things like sneak attack that very much depend on positioning it saves a lot of confusion to use a map.

Sounds good to me. Since this is my first PBP, I'm hoping to pick it up quickly.
It's not too tough. Be as descriptive as you like and stay in character. Use [.ooc]say what you want (minus the .)[/ooc] to speak out of character. Also, the format text options are easy to remember once you have used them once or twice.
Another thing I have seen players use is that they write their dice rolls in their character profile so they can just copy/paste everything they need when they need it. Saves loads of time with upper level builds.

Little things can make a big difference, I always use bold for when my character is speaking and italics when he is thinking something relevant to the story.
Some of the stuff I posted about in my rambling post are things I have picked up over time that make things go smoother. The biggest danger to any play by post is stagnation, so when in doubt post.

This is a very good guide to play-by-post games. It helped me when I got started playing pbp.

I'm here. And now that it was mentioned, I like the Mystic Theurge idea. But maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's just see if Hailey (and the others) can survive to reach second level before we worry too much about whether she'd want to summon skeletons or simply monkey around with the life force of those who oppose her (and the rest of the party, of course.)
Sorry, everyone. I'm not leaving. It's just that I have to go where the wifi access is. I'm playing by laptop, so if you don't hear from me, it's only because I'm unable to get to one. I'm still around.
