Dropping the polearm, the barbarian reaches for the massive club at her back, the gleam in her eyes revealing the fire within.

Runes of Shielding, Deflection and Force sprung in to being before him and wove together in to a shimmering shield.

"Huh... so that is what that does!"

Reeling from her wounds, Helgarr focuses all her attention on a single armored goblin. Her bardiche clangs against the stone floor as she reaches for a massive wooden club strapped to her back. Swinging with all her might, Helgarr yells as she pulls the club over her head to smash the now-terrified goblin into jelly.

Jeaux continues her relentless assault on the goblin standing to Helgarr's side. Although previously she only did little jabs and slices, this time she swings her glaive right over her head, just like Helgarr. The blade slices right down the goblin's shoulder, all the way down to its spine, it crumbles to the floor lifeless. Behind Jeaux, Vandra conjures another globe of acid and launches it at the scarred spellcasting goblin. It clips the creature across its arm, dealing minimal damage. Still, the goblin flinches before cursing at Vandra.

Outside of the glassworks, Azeri stalls for just a moment while Ali catches up and casts a spell on him. At the end of the spellcasting, Azeri is now protected both by an aura of light, and a floating shield of force. Ready to clean up the fight, Azeri runs into the Glassworks at full speed.

Ali, I have a question because I have never played a Summoner - is the spell cast on Azeri, or you and shared with Azeri?

It is cast on Azeri. I don't benefit from it personally. The ability is called "Shared Spell" but it only refers to the fact that you can use spells with the Range-Personal, on your Eidolon as well, as long as they are on your Summoner Spell list.

A great and powerful strike as Furnok slices through the goblin like it was butter! His blade completely ignores the creature's protection magic, Furnok's pure strength giving him the edge. Meanwhile, Maria and Cleo combine their efforts to take down the scarred spellcaster. Although Maria's shot flies into the wall, Cleo gets a good *thwack* into the goblin's thigh. It hisses at her with bloodshot eyes, clearly marking the halfling as it's next target.

"Longshank get nothing from us! We give our lives to the mother!!," yells out the scarred goblin in response to Helgarr This is in common. After it shouts at Helgarr, it chants another dark spell that it weaves around the goblin warrior. Its eyes roll back as a wave of darkness seeps into its mind. Then, the scarred one stomps its foot on the ground, summoning a double of itself that acts perfectly in sync.

Helgarr watches the madness seep into the warrior's mind before it shrieks without warning and lunges towards Helgarr. Again, Helgarr feels a sickening tinge as the curved dagger cuts into her side, drawing even more blood. The goblin laughs maniacally, like it has lost all sanity. But that's not the worst of it.

Screaming out a berserk warcry, the falchion wielding goblin finally charges forwards to strike. Helgarr was too focused on her injuries to notice in time, but the falchion makes an unbelievably powerful cleave across Helgarr's chest. Human blood sprays like a fountain as it covers the ecstatic goblins like the wet season's first shower. They dance around, cheering as the powerful woman falls to the ground completely defeated. Once they regain their composure, the goblin licks its black and orange flaming blade, searching for its next victim. Helgarr, I'm assuming you put your controlled rage bonus completely into Strength, but in the future please let me know so I can calculate your hitpoints more accurately

I would rule that it does in this situation. Spells and wands only require a touch, but to pour a potion down someone's throat requires too much interaction to not have an attack of opportunity.

I do have a couple of questions though (sometimes I get confused when there is no map :D):

- Helgarr is 5-10' behind Furnok. The falchion guy that charged at me, shouldn't he be eating an AoO from, say... Furnok?
- My second question is: there are three goblins left, and they are all focusing on me. Is this correct?

No worries, Helgarr. Ask away!! I understand your frustration with a lack of maps, and as our combats begin to get more and more complex, I am seriously considering pulling up my big boy pants and creating some maps for you.

Furnok, as of this turn, is now 10 ft. to the right of Helgarr. He's not been making attacks of opportunity because he has been using his falchion. If he was using a reach weapon, the potion-drinking goblin would have provoked several AoOs, but he still wouldn't have been able to help Helgarr against the remaining 3 goblins.

Two of the goblins are focusing you, and the 3rd is right behind them providing magical benefits. If you can keep player and character knowledge separate, you are fighting a fighter, a warpriest, and a cleric. That crit was incredibly brutal.

Yeah... I got really unlucky there. And on top of that, I forgot that Helgarr now has DR 1/- (since level 2). Wouldn't make a difference though, since she was only hit twice.

Thanks for the explanations TreasureFox, though if we assume good and bad guys are two fronts it is not too bad, but it gets hard to understand left/right distances - for future reference, and because it is important for a reach fighter, how do I garner that information from the 'Positioning' spoiler?

Well, the positioning spoiler is a recent idea I came up with on the spot while working on the new Hell's Rebels game with Vandra. It's essentially a written version of a map, that lists everyone's position relative to each other. Still, it's far from perfect, and I'll be either modifying it further or I'll make a map.

Vandra was horrified. Helgarr, the large Shoanti woman who cared about them all, was dying next to him. How could that be? She was so full of life! Something inside him snapped at that moment. With a cold look in his eyes, he moved around Helgarr's prone form and glared at the goblins, especially the one who did that to her. Reaching deep within his anger and hate, he pulled it out and gave it form, twisting the magic in his hands before releasing it as a spread of colors from his finger tips at the remaining goblins!

As Helgarr gets downed by the cruel goblins, the team rallies and gets serious. With their anger boiling over, Vandra launches from his hand a spray of various colors that smash into the warpriest's face, downing the terror instantly. With the creature down, the team gangs up on it. Jeaux swipes at it with her glaive, making a small gash across its back, while Azeri moves in and takes a swing at it with his claws. Ali tries to get in a good shot, but with the creature being face first in the stone floor, his bolt smashes against the far wall. The evil cleric laughs as Ali screams for Ameiko. "Ahahaha! Her flesh, so soft..." it was going to continue, but all of a sudden an arrow from Maria rips right through its side. "I curse you Longshanks! Mother eat the meat from your corpse!"

During this time, Cleo rushes over to Helgarr. Whispering a prayer to Erastil, her hands glow softly before washing over the downed warrior. Helgarr's eyes open and her head pangs from where she fell.

Another powerful swing from Furnok, but the goblin warrior simply deflects it with its heavy shield. With absolutely no sense of honor or self preservation, the goblin stabs at Helgarr with its curved dagger, taking another slice of flesh in the process.

The cleric laughs hysterically like a maniac after a gruesome murder. Suddenly, it stops and gazes deep into Ali's eyes. In a raspy voice, it says slowly in common, "My life... for the mother." With a terrible toothy grin, it binds in its hands an ever growing ball of pure black energy. As the ball grows larger and larger, the goblin doesn't immediately release it. Instead, the goblin opens its maw and eats the ball of energy, swallowing with a loud gulp. It only has enough time to give Ali a wink before its red-green flesh erupts, spraying everyone with flesh, blood, and dark energy.

While Cleo administers more healing for Helgarr, Azeri pummels and bashes the warpriest. By the end of his spree, the warpriest not only looks bruised and beaten, but is also bleeding out. It seems like it was already nearing death even before Azeri started attacking.

Although Furnok can't seem to get past the fighter's armor, Vandra whispers a prediction to his mother. Taking the advice from her son, Jeaux waits for the goblin to make a critical error with its shield before she pokes the goblin in the shoulder. It looks rather ragged and tired by now, but doesn't even seem to recognize Helgarr's threats, yet alone be afraid of them.
