Maria the Great |
She hides the scimitar strapped to her back under her cloak and leaves her ill gotten goods in a pocket as she moves towards the others. She looks over the many people who weren't there when she left and sighs. Back to the inn. She pulls her hood down and moves towards the inn, never once moving like she'd done something wrong.
Maria the Great |
Once entering the inn she moves quickly to her room to hide the scimitar, by far the most distinctive of her treasures. What's the roof like? I'm thinking among the rafters or possibly thatching if there is any.
Maria the Great |
Maria climbs up placing the scimitar among the rafters along with the bells. Are we talking hand bells or cowbells or what? Also, I'm rather wishing I'd put them on the table in front of the guard instead of taking them.
Maria the Great |
I assume others wish to speak to me, besides that, I'm good.
Maria the Great |
I don't know what it means yet. But there is definitely more going on up there than milling. And it sounds like the Scarnettis are up to no good.
Maria the Great |
This sheet mentions many things, it is a copy of one I found hidden, it mentions money from the Scarnetties, protection money from someone named Courrin, Plow the PiXie's kitten, the destruction of what I assume is a mill named Cougar Creek, and paying Grisle
Maria the Great |
That's all I know, for now.
Cleo Gingerberry |
Cleo drifted off curled up on a bench while Maria was upstairs.
Helgarr |
Helgarr has been around Sandpoint for some time now and, as Maria speaks, she tries to put the pieces together - "People who pay protection money are often unable to react due to fear of injury to themselves, their loved ones, or their livelihoods - my blood boils at such a thought, and for that reason I would like to try and obtain cooperation from Courrin" - the barbarian's hands clench and unclench.
"From the destroyed Cougar Creek mill we may try to obtain clues as to whether it might have been intentional, or an accident" - she ponders further.
"As for this Grisle character - has anyone heard anything about him, or her?"
Not sure if I should roll once for each piece of information, but:
Knowledge (Local) - who is Courrin: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Knowledge (Local) - where is the Cougar Creek Mill: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Knowledge (Local) - who is Grisle: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Maria the Great |
Trust me Helgarr, I know how bad the protection game is. I will find who's doing it, and I will burn their house down around their ears. Not literally

"Good" - the woman nods with a serious look in her eyes.
Noticing Jeaux tucking Cleo in, Helgarr moves to the halfling, easily picking her up - "We should put her to bed - do you know which room she is in Jeaux?"
Will wait for any possible results on the knowledge rolls to decide what to do next.
Maria the Great |
Put her in my bed, I'll be working on pricing out our goods from the Sczarni for a while yet.
DM TreasureFox |
You're doing great, Helgarr, here's what you know:
- You're not sure who this Courrin is (but Cleo does)
- Although you may not know the specific geography, you've heard that Cougar Creek is south of Sandpoint. The Lost Coast Road travels across it. It should be pretty close to the Farmlands.
- Grisle is the misspelling of the name Gressel. As in Gressel Tenniwar, an enormous man who runs the Fatman's Feedbag in Sandpoint. Known for being the most violent, unsanitary, and notorious tavern in Sandpoint by far.

]You want blanket roll or roll appraise for every item. I suspect I know the price of a set of M. Thieve's tools.
DM TreasureFox |
Normally I consider items such as regular weapons, thieves' tools, and the like as a DC 5 appraise check. So normally I just assume you know the price. I use appraise checks mainly for rare items, magical stuff, selling trophies and beast hides, unusual jewelry and art, and things like that.
Maria the Great |
Oh cool, I'll look up prices later then.
DM TreasureFox |
Maria took the game by the horns and ran with it. I'm just waiting on Helgarr, then I'll start the next day.
In the meantime, let's talk about healing. You regain 2hp + your Con modifier (negatives apply, but the total can't be reduced below 1hp). Non Lethal damage is healed at twice this rate. I don't think anyone is suffering from ability damage, but you heal 1 point if you are. I need a new Fort save from Vandra for poison ivy, you get a +2 alchemical bonus for the cream you got earlier.
Maria the Great |
*smiles* better it happens when everyone's asleep and/or busy when nobody's upset that the thief took the limelight, though in the future, you all could invest in stealth synergy and come with me.
Alandrian Verium |
Investing in Stealth is a dead end for Ali. He is already Skill hungry as he is. Azeri has Stealth though, and is okay at it.
Okay so what gear / gold do we have to divide? And who took what so we can divide it up right? I need healing and to buy magic shiiiznit!
DM TreasureFox |
Although some of you got a good night sleep, others were far more likely to sleep in. It is nearing noon by the time the laziest finally get out of bed, and none too soon, for Sheriff Hemlock walks into the Rusty Dragon Inn with a grim face.
- You have all agreed to go boar hunting tomorrow at sunrise
- Ameiko can not be found in the Rusty Dragon
- Vandra is finally free of the Poison Ivy
Maria the Great |
Maria rubs her eyes as she's faced with the sheriff. What's wrong?
Vandra Geaux |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Vandra greeted the day with a yawn and a smile. He was still alive, even after all that happened yesterday. As he was getting ready, he noticed that his itching was gone! Looking down at his legs, he saw that the rash was gone. 'That was really good cream!' he thought happily to himself. "Now lets just hope that the spells I learned last night while mom was out can help," he muttered, thinking of the breakthrough he had while going over a few of his books and scrolls.
As he came downstairs for breakfast with Jeaux, he noticed that the inn's mistress, Ameiko, wasn't there like she usually was. Thinking that she might just be having a bit of a lie-in, he just shrugged and ordered some food for the two of them. As they finished, they stayed down there, getting to know some of the halfling workers. As the day passed by, the rest of his companions made their way down for food. Greeting them all with a smile, he was about to say something when the door opened and the sheriff walked in, looking for all the world like a spectre of ill omen.
Helgarr |
Put her in my bed, I'll be working on pricing out our goods from the Sczarni for a while yet.
"Very well" - Helgarr nods, taking the sleeping Cleo upstairs, then moving to her own room to mull over what information they have garnered - "We have much to talk about in the morrow" - she ponders to herself before going to sleep.
Will share the info from the knowledge rolls with the others, but first I want to hear what the Sheriff has to say ;)
DM TreasureFox |
"My friends" begins Sheriff Hemlock. "I am sorry for calling upon you again. There are very important things to talk about today, and Mayor Deverin has requested your presence at an emergency counsel. I can't say more here. Please meet me as soon as you can on the top floor of the Town Hall. Almost everyone has already been gathered."
Maria the Great |
Maria turns around and heads back to her room to gather the essentials of her kit and takes the studded leather from the day before.
Cleo Gingerberry |
Yawning, Cleo smells the prospect of breakfast, delighted beyond belief. Unfortunately he catches the urgency in the sheriffs voice. Grumbling just a little, she hurries on with the others.
without breakfast...
sadness...
Alandrian Verium |
Ali arrives at the Rusty Dragon early, looking for Ameiko. He chases down one of the Halflings running the place and begins to ask questions. "Have you seen her in awhile? Where is she?"
Helgarr |
"My friends" begins Sheriff Hemlock. "I am sorry for calling upon you again. There are very important things to talk about today, and Mayor Deverin has requested your presence at an emergency counsel. I can't say more here. Please meet me as soon as you can on the top floor of the Town Hall. Almost everyone has already been gathered."
"Very well - we will proceed there at once" - Helgarr nods.
Maria the Great |
Maria thinks for a second and grabs the shortsword too then comes back down prepared for trouble. Well let's get on it with shall we?
DM TreasureFox |
The halfling that Ali pulls over is the old grandmother Corwin. She seems to be on the verge of tears. With a measured breath she addresses Ali. "Come with me, young master Alandrian. We are going to the town hall." The other halflings seem to be cooking furiously, despite the low number of patrons today.
Sheriff Hemlock leads the group to the top of the Town Hall. A comfortable sitting area on top of the roof overlooks much of the low half of Sandpoint. Many outdoor chairs line the guardrails, and a long wooden coffee table sits in the center.
Seated in the chairs already are many different people, including:
- Mayor Kendra Deverin
- A female elf armed to the teeth
- A male dwarf with a raggedy beard, also armed to the teeth
- A heavily built middle aged man with short blond hair
- Father Abstalar Zantus
- Savah Bevaniky
- Sheriff Hemlock (just entered)
- Bethana Corwin (just entered)
Mayor Kendra Deverin stands up and greets you all. She seems to have the same grim expression as Hemlock and many others. "Greetings adventurers. Please, have a seat. Let me introduce to you to Shalelu Andosana, Grunyar Deeplager, Sir Titus Scarnetti, Savah Bevaniky, Bethana Corwin, and I'm sure you already know Belor and Abstalar."
Maria the Great |
Maria bows awkwardly in an attempt to be polite. What's going on?
Cleo Gingerberry |
Good Morning Cleo says politely.
