Could everyone remind me what you're armed with? There was a section where it was a real weapon swapsie.
What I have is:
Melisana - x-bow (the supposedly non-violent NPC who's actually quite good at it)
Coinneach - nothing
Conall - club
Brand - Longsword, axe, dagger
Ynyr - axe
Tresmeer - axe and sling
Healaugh - sling and spears
Siobhan - dagger?

![]() |

Sling is Tresmeer's weapon of choice.
But since it is improvised he is at -2, Yes?
Then does this mean that the rest of the party are on a higher negative or what? How does being proficient benefit Tresmeer, in other words?
Note to DM, his secondary weapon is now a sword. Have updated profile alias to read that.

FabesMinis |

If you're non-proficient in sling then you're already at a -4 penalty. So with these slings you're at -6 penalty. Which means Healaugh should actually be -2 improv -4 non-prof +3 Dex +1 size +1 halfling = -1 to hit.
Tresmeer is on +0 to hit with the slings.

FabesMinis |

So we currently have:
Siobhan -1 to hit -1 to damage (dagger -melee)
+0 to hit -1 damage (dagger - thrown)
Tresmeer +0 to hit +0 to damage (sling)
-4 to hit +0 damage (longsword)
Conall +1 to hit +1 to damage (club -one handed)
+1 to hit +2 to damage (club -two handed)
Healaugh -1 to hit +0 to damage (sling)
+1 to hit +0 damage (short spear - thrown)
-3 to hit +0 damage (short spear - melee)
Brand +4 to hit +3 damage (longsword - one handed) - ah he gave this to Tresmeer...
+4 to hit +4 damage (longsword - two handed)
+5 to hit +3 damage (battleaxe - one handed)
+5 to hit +4 damage (battleaxe - two handed)
Ynyr - -4 to hit +0 damage (battleaxe)
+0 to hit +0 damage (if someone gives him a club or dagger)
+1 to hit +0 damage (if he throws a dagger)
Melisana - +1 to hit +0 damage (light crossbow) [if you haven't guessed, she has the aristocrat NPC class]
Coinneach - non-combatant
Looks like you really do want Conall and Brand up front with the others er... in reserve. Melisana will give the crossbow to Ynyr actually, now that there is a party member who can use it.

Tresmeer Torwalker |

Revised for strength bonus to weapons.
Tresmeer +0 to hit +2 to damage (sling)
-4 to hit 1d8+3 damage (broad sword)
OGL Strength bonus applies to sling damage
EDIT: checked it's a broadsword not a bastard sword.

That was nice of her, he already has a club!
When she took the dagger she said she was taking it on Conall's behalf and always intended to give it to him when he was healed and she's a woman of her word - even if it does leave her weaponless *pets the silly halfelf*

FabesMinis |

Boglins. Where is that mysterious +5 on slings and thrown weapons coming from then? I make no apology for asking - you worked those stats out in the first place.
You'll have guessed I'm now completely befuddled.
RR - it goes like this...
+3 Dex +1 size +1 halfling bonus = +5 to thrown weapons and slings.
Oh no, you're not proficient with slings... that's a -4 penalty
Taking you to +1 to slings.
Oh no, the DM is a meanie ;) -2 for improvised curtain slings
Taking you to -1 to slings.
Clear as mud. :D

Gosh I've missed a lot of discussion!
Let me read, digest and comment before anything more is done with these weapons.
I am a bit peeved that Ynyr's artificing skill seems to count for nothing in the sling department. That is why I gave it to him, so that he sould help a bit getting around any improvised penalties (or at least some of them). If he can't make things (slightly) better than others because of it it makes him pretty useless to the party.
Ynyr currently has an axe and a dagger.

Thrugnipp |

Sighs... Then looks brighter and feels useful once more...
OK, you're the boss.
Anyway, Ynyr has been trying to pass his axe on to someone else since he got it but, like some cursed weapon in an old computer game, he seems unable to get rid of it. He will hang on to it for now (it is becoming some sort of comfort object - a talisman to continued life) but, if anybody wants it, just ask.

By the way, Happy Star wars Day to all of you and Happy Birthday to me! I am loving this game, even when we mess about with weapons.
I can just see us all huddled in a group going,"No you take it... No you, Plesae I insist you have the nice club. I prefer my sling of curtain material!"
Cheers all, happy gaming.

By the way, Happy Star wars Day to all of you and Happy Birthday to me!
Happy birthday! *hugs!*
Just imagining their approaches:
"Noaw, oi be thinkin' tha' you'm be leavin' us alone."
"Look you, it's not a very good thing you are doing there is it, now?"
"Would you like to hear a story about how Brigid destroyed an entire island-full of folks like you? If only they had changed the error of their ways the wrath of the goddess wouldn't have befallen them.."

Thrugnipp |

Just an FYI, that it's coming up to Showtime here in North Yorkshire, so I will be pretty involved in that until the 18th May when it is all over. There will be days when it is easy to post and days when there won't be time, so please excuse any lapses in Ynyr's continuity. If you need to, and I haven't posted, please assume that he will do the sensible thing.

Hot diggety. Think FW just came up with Healaugh's future career over on the game thread.
Don't know how this would work within generic classes, but would be fun to try. Bard was the suggestion. Would mean he can sing Brigid-lass's praises to the irritation of all (musical instrument probably a mouth organ or something equally portable). He'd still be rubbish as a caster, but taking vaguely arcane stuff if he lasts that long might solve that issue.
Still give him ranged specialism, fits with the general Healaugh pattern of death or glory charges, wild random acts of stupidity and tendency act before he thinks.
Fabes? Could this work?

Amardolem |

Yeah, one of those sailors with a squeeze box, doing sea shanties-har! All you need is the quaint sailor hat. I was wondering this, as everyone's talking about their class...do we stay generic or somehow move to one of the "traditional" classes?
I'm also curious, what kind of show? You said it ends May 18th, I'll be over there at the end of June, I'm renting a cottage near Wells for a week, and while I will be taking in the sights, generally don't go in for the touristy stuff, just R&R and get the head clear. Then I'm going over to France to see an old friend. (of course I picked the worst year in recent history to come over given the exchange rate, but it can't be helped, sometimes you only get 1 crack at these things)
and on a lighter note the electronic dice seem to have taken a shine to me today

Show is Gilbert and Sullivan's Iolanthe. The one about fairies taking over the Houses of Parliament. Thrugg is conducting, I've directed it. For the local Operatic Society who bizarrely claim not to be able to sing.
It should be fun once the run starts, but I'm a headless chicken until the end of the dress rehearsal.
We have nice weather at the moment, but that's guaranteed to have changed by the time you get over here. Our summer's tend to be like that - two weeks of clear blue skies and pleasant sunshiney days with gentle breezes, then 10 weeks of solid dreary rain.
Healaugh with an accordian .... the mind boggles. It is just the kind of idiot thing he'd do as well. Can't carry food or any actual essentials of life because the accordian is more important.
