Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Sorry updates are rather few and far between. I was out for most of yesterday.

m other rogue/bard/ranger 1/2/1

that's ok, it's actually a relief, Tarren's game posts fast and furious...I feel like I'm playing 24 hrs a day

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Yes, I think Treasure Hunt must be one of the more gently paced PbPs :D

m other rogue/bard/ranger 1/2/1

But it has great flavor..very thoughtful, I'm actually trying to hold back a little until everyone posts at least once on a particular event, because Bran posted infrequently so it seems odd if Brand suddenly has something to say every other post ;^)

Human

He could have been in shock or having legitimate trouble trying to work out what the blazes everyone is saying.

The Exchange

It seems to be getting worse.

By the time we ever leave this forsaken island, I doubt anyone will understand some of us.

Human

Aye, Healaugh's just hitting stride like.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Don't worry, Melisana still talks with an RP accent. So she can translate.

The Exchange

Siobhán is also available for translation, she's starting to think she's strange for being without a broad accent though, just another factor making her feel all weird around the pureblood types :p

Human

I read her with an Irish accent though - it just seems to fit with her demeanour.

My original idea was that Healaugh was Welsh or whatever the local equivalent would be. He had his own ideas about that and he isn't.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Oh yes, our resident half-elf is Irish to me as well. The name helps, of course.

I'm unsure about Healaugh's direction. He doesn't really have one. Spell-casting seems unlikely at the moment. Although the high Int/Dex combo hints that way it doesn't feel right. Faff, wibble and wurp. Ideas for what becomes of the small pest?

Speaking with my power gamer hat on, I'd recommend taking generic warrior and choosing your skills to complement or stand out in the party, maybe thiefy skills. Especially good if Healaugh has an Int bonus.

G-Expert seems a poorer choice than G-Warrior because of the lower hit points and BAB. That would be taking advantage of the rules.

Definitely good if you have a high Int. Could become a ranged specialist, taking hide and move silently and Sneak Attack as first feat.

D16, I14 and due to strange initial choices Ch13. Alas St10. Weapons wise he almost has to be ranged due to the halfling racial bonuses and low melee effectiveness. Sneak Attack works as ranged as well, so that has possibilities. Brand and Conall are our best melee folks, I guess we could use a ranged specialist. Could always pick up more skills if he survives long enough to reach L2.

Useful thoughts FW. Thanks.

The Exchange

My pleasure.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

I concur with FW - taking Generic Warrior and taking the sneak attack class feature would make Healaugh pretty damn good as a ranged specialist. It also fits with his general no-nonsense demeanour. I'm getting the vibe from people of:

Conall - Warrior or Expert
Brand - Warrior?
Tresmeer - Divine Caster
Siobhan - Divine or Arcane Caster
Ynyr - Expert
Healaugh - Warrior or Expert

Sound about right?

Human Expert 1, Init +1, AC16/12/14, Hits 8, F+2,R+1,W+3, Perception +5

Divine Caster or Warrior (depending on the adventure)

Human

Given half a chance Healaugh will be out there slaughtering pooka for Brigid. Pity about the low Wisdom really, he'd have made a rabid cleric. On second thoughts, perhaps it's just as well. Halfling's a nutbar.

Probably warrior then. Throwing stuff a speciality.

And herein lies my problem, I suck if I have to make any kind of decision. Technically from her stats, how she forst developed her magic and her elven blood she'd be more suited to arcane casting but she's also fiercely religious and would make a good cleric/druid type too.

I guess it'll depend what falls into her hands first - a book that'll help her develop arcane gifts or more gifts from one of the Gods.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Well, hmm... Perhaps you would like to keep advancing in Adept but with addition of bonus feats?

I'll look into numbers and have a thinky, as the least combat effective I can see Siobhán getting smushed at some point anyways so she may not hit the elusive level 2!

Human

That applies to all of us really. I'm fearful of hitting a doorframe hard.

The Exchange

Because I like to spread the tension, when I DM'ed the entry into the manor, the party almost died. If I remember right one PC was left standing at one point.

That player was extremely good and used every rule advantage he could to survive and save the rest.

Tresmeer may not be that nervous, but I sure am.

Well, Ynyr has shown that while he may have the will, his combat effectiveness is somewhere around the nil mark. I see him as some sort of expert (always proud of his achievements), but also close to nature. His peripatetic life does that for him. I can't see him using arcane magic - he'd talk too much to get the spell out in a single standard action. I'll gladly take advice on how best to utilise his burgeoning personality and skills to benefit the party.

I need to think too. But maybe I won't have to when we get among the pucha scum. It might all be decided for me.

The old reverse Chewbacca maneuver!! 8^D

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Eesh.. none of y'all are power-gamers are ya? Hardly anyone's invested in the god-stat.

I speak of course of Dexterity.

No, you all had to be smart and likeable...

I jest of course; it's just struck me from day one that Healaugh is the king of Dex in this group.

Human

And much good it has done him. He's just rolled rubbish with a not-to-be-sneezed-at +5.

If he lives, that +9 Know(Nat) will be much more useful. Although admittedly not as an adventurer.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Knowledge skills can be very useful viz. Oh look, Yeth Hounds!

m other rogue/bard/ranger 1/2/1

I didn't make Brand (and I love DEX) and I almost finished "Burnt Offerings" over the weekend (as a player)

Apropos, don't read if your playing RotRL "Burnt Offerings"

Spoiler:
WE got stopped by the all too powerful Yeth Hounds (seems someone forgot the silver arrows)

The Exchange

I've played the elven dexmeister to death. Cleric of celerity... 22 Dex at level 1..... blah.

Time for a change methinks. Plus I deliberately kept the options open for this scenario.

Tell me, do you brits go to GenconUK or better yet Conception?

Cheers

Human

Jury is still out on GenCon, but we're heading off to B'ham for UK Games Expo at the end of May. Looking forward hugely.

Yeth hounds. Knowing what they are doesn't make it any easier to squish them. One of ours turned out to be pretty nasty - panicked nearly the whole party.

No, but it does tell you that it might be an idea to run :P

As for RotRL:

Spoiler:
We had fun with them too, thankfully I rolled an awesome statline (linky!) so with a lot of kicking we managed)

Human

Lummy. You really did. I just know that if that was me nothing would be above 12. Builds can get samey, but at least you end up with some points to play with.

RotTL

Spoiler:

The whole party bar my druid panicked and headed for the entrance as the nearest way out. Hotly pursued by yeth hound and Nualia. Finally stopped just by main entrance where our rescued horse (Teacake) kicked the hound to death and the Rogue/Barb went into a psycho rage spurred on by the humiliation of being panicked and chopped up Nualia. The elf lost his longbow, the druid nearly lost her life when she tried to hit the hound. Good times.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Lest we forget... a certain elf did manage to completely pound two yeth hounds, and take down a girly mage in one hit.

Awww, we liked her. We let her go! She may be a little crazy and 'evil' but wasn't really doing anything wrong.. We have 'interesting' morals!

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Ah... well, she didn't get a chance to talk to us. She launched a firey bolt into our rogue's face and thus Elerian the ranger/wizard wasn't really in the mood for a chat. A longsword crit for 16 damage tends to cramp negotiations even more...

Human

Beline is such rubbish in this adventure. She gets overrun by goblins, enraged by sinspawn, freaks out when her snake takes damage and never has enough CLW. On the plus side, she has a kind of cheery gung-ho attitude and a mean sneak attack, so it's not all bad. Dice have been against me lately.

The Exchange

Female Human(ish) DM 1 / Housewife 1 / Zany RPer 3

We're a really heavily RP-focused group in our RotRL campaign. It takes us maaaany sessions to get anywhere so our DM happily caters to our desire to babble at the NPCs if there's a chance they'll talk. I think the sneaking into the room and pointing many weapons at her and her familiar was what made her open to negotiations.

m other rogue/bard/ranger 1/2/1

Here's my rp from the

Spoiler:
Yeth hounds: "eeeeeeeiiiieeeeiiiaaaa!" Freme runs out of the room. (Varisian Wizard)On the other hand in some what of a wizard duel I incinerated the female wizard with a Varisian tattoo powered Burning Hands, unfortunatly, most of her scrolls didn't make their save :(

The Exchange

I had a beguiler in the first pbp I played in and I could always count on her dice rolls when it mattered.

Sometimes you get a feeling about a character. I don't think Tresmeer is a lucky character, that or he is a Cornish dwarf in disguise.

I have officially shelved the moorland warrior idea after those stealth roll.

Silly game isn't it? As a Liverpool supporter too I am having a bad time of it at the moment. Thank God no one supports Chelsea on the boards.

m other rogue/bard/ranger 1/2/1

The weirdest thing just happened (being over here) I don't follow much UK football but just as I read that last post, a guy with a Chelsea shirt walked by...you don't see that everyday here, 'specially when someone just mentioned it!

The Exchange

Yeah, he has alot to be happy about.

Being a sports fan is a right pain sometimes. And then every now and then...

Good Luck to him and his team. I hope they beat our bitterest rivals in the Final, just wish it could have been LFC.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

These Move Silently rolls are the funniest set of random numbers ever. I'm easily amused.

m other rogue/bard/ranger 1/2/1

We may have to go to Ynyr's disraction plan, at this rate. Who's the fastest with the best hide skill? Light the barracks on fire....actually we still prolly get a diguise check thanks to the verminous cloaks, I guess all is not lost, One things for certain, we're not lasting long vs 10 yrch....

Human

Healaugh is +7 Hide, but he's +5 Move Silently and look how well that worked out ...

He's also only got 20' move being a halfling.

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

Everyone holds their breath waiting for Tresmeer to fall over his own feet/step on some goat poop/walk into someone... ;D

The Exchange

Thank you Tymora.

Human

Healaugh really isn't cut out for this, despite his huge bonus. He must be pretending to be a small shrub or something.

The Exchange

Female Human(ish) DM 1 / Housewife 1 / Zany RPer 3

Hehe, I knew that would happen. The queen of lucky move silently rolls isn't so great at the hiding!

Male Human - dash of elf Miniature painter/ Heroic

C'mon, Brand... do it for the team...

m other rogue/bard/ranger 1/2/1

sorry I was so late with that...helluva day at work...no computer time whatsoever. didn't hide, but even with a -1 on the roll Chauntea smiled on me...btw does anyone speak yrch? I don't, so be ready when I lay down the hurt on this scum. My CHA is the worst...I haven't RPed this guy very abrasively, but it looks like I should start...sheesh
