I agree with Höd, Skill checks for the most part are something we should choose to do, that doesn't work too well when the players don't know what they have the option to do however.
But I think for the most part it sounds like we do. You could always allow a little of both, having us decide when we are using a skill and also asking us, at times, to make important skill checks
As for Combat I am also okay with that proposed idea.

@DM, For Illya introducing herself with her new name I was thinking she would probably only have to take bluff checks until she had introduced herself the first time to each character and then only until she got used to the name, but how would you like that to play out? I guess we should have talked about that earlier.
In any case I'm pretty sure despite her best efforts Illya has rolled a 1 so an automatic fail in attempting to lie about her new name to Hod.
I guess that means he suspects Illya's not being deceptive about who she is in some way? Anyway I'll leave it in your hands DM, however you want the failed bluff to play out is fine with me :)
A natural 1 on a skill check is not an automatic failure.

Okay, if I haven't heard anything from Hazel by noon-ish tomorrow I will be advancing the scene. I realize I set a bad precedent last week with my complete failure to post at all for the entire week, but I will be attempting to keep things moving from now on.
Unfortunately, I have family in town this weekend so my posts are going to be at a minimum for several days to a bit over a week. By minimum I mean probably no more than one a day or so, not minimum like last week where it was lest than one a week.
My posting will be curtailed as well. I've got a toothache that is pretty much sapping my will to live. I have a dentist appointment tomorrow and likely some work after that, so I may be slowed down for a little while.
Alright, Hell week is over. Hopefully you all have been waiting patiently. Expect a game post tomorrow morning.
