Arden is a young half-elven woman in her mid-twenties who is of moderate height and build. Her elven heritage is not easily recognisable in the traditional sense as her ears, and features, are more human than elvish. However, her natural agility and poise betray the truth about her lineage. She has straight black hair that she wears up and out of the way to avoid entanglement in battle. Her brown eyes are devoid of emotion, and she tends to stare without blinking for long moments. Arden's skin is pale and smooth, in contrast to her life at sea, and her slender frame betrays the strength and speed of her well-maintained body.
Since her life is consumed by brawling, or working aboard ship, Arden is generally attired as a sailor. She dresses in simple outfits of light linen, soft leather and wool. These tend to have a Tien feel to them, and she feels most comfortable wearing her dǒulì to keep the sun off her face. In combat, Arden prefers to fight with her quarterstaff, though she will often use improvised weapons if she is caught unaware. She wears a leather sling wrapped about her left wrist, and is armed with daggers for close-combat and for situations where unwinding her sling is impractical. At her left hip she carries a skane, a ritual dagger, used by the priests of Pharasma in their rites. This has sentimental value for her as she waiting for its owner to return for it. Arden tends to be particular about maintaining her gear and her own personal presentation, and will strive to appear appropriately clean and decent as her circumstances allow.
Arden is honourable, for a pirate, and will keep her word if she can and as long as it does not endanger her ship. While she strives to be honest and loyal, she also has a tendency to be cold and violent. If she is wronged, especially if someone breaks an agreement or trust without good reason, Arden will never forget the slight. In most cases she will still maintain some kind of relationship with the individual in question, though she will betray them without hesitation if a better offer comes along. While she has few friends, and fewer that she trusts, Arden is always willing to give those she meets a chance. One chance, and one chance only.
