Ghiv Masdara |
Ghiv level up
HP 1/2+1+CON=+7 New Total 38
Channel Energy moves to 3d6
3rd level spells 1+1domain
Skill points 2+INT(0)+1(Human)+1(FCB)
Stealth
Spellcraft
Kn:Religion
Perception
Currently have a +1Agile Breastplate, selling it to gain an Agile Mithril Breastplate(I lose the +1AC but thats ok Ghiv is much faster/sneakier now)
Ghiv now has access to Deeper Darkness. Our Mantis Masks will make it so we can drop darkness onto a group of enemies and wade in.
Sa'Kage |
Yeah the deeper darkness thing is likely to be quite effective at this level vs humans.
Mama Bess |
Sorry to be more slow recently. Work has been much busier than before...and shows little sign of changing soon.
Leveling up (belatedly, and not entirely quite yet):
- Feat: Serpent Lash
- Gear: +2 enchantment on her chain shirt & benevolent on it as well. That's 6K GP but I had 2700 spare from character creation. Is it OK to spend 2K of my starting gold and get that for my gift?
- extract & etc still TBD
Ghiv Masdara |
I 100% forgot about feat selection at level 5....anyone have any ideas? because I don't.
Sa'Kage |
Power Attack?
Ghiv Masdara |
Not really worth it for me....Ghiv already struggles to hit things.
Sa'Kage |
Mmm Kage will be keen to flank where possible which helps somewhat with that.
To help you hit more maybe pick up extra traits to pick up Fate's Favoured and something else, like armor expert. Or maybe:
Militia (Amanandar) - +1 bonus on attacks made while flanking an opponent. Not bad if your built around flanking (Rogues and Precise Strike builds)
Casting divine favour plus flanking would give you +2 luck +2 flank +1 trait to hit.
Ghiv Masdara |
Hmm. I think Improved Channel is what I'll take, the DC will go up by 2 and make it harder for things to resist my Channel Smite.
Mama Bess |
OK, Mama's *finally* updated.
For feat, went with Extra Investigator Talent (Infusions) so now Mama Bess can give others any of her extracts, including: blend, monkey fish, disguise self, expeditious retreat...and now one 2nd level extract. I've penciled in Invisibility for now but if anyone wants to propose a different one (acute senses, maybe?) here's the list.
Input appreciated. Thanks!
Eris Triguna |
Invisibility or Barkskin are generally pretty nice options for an Investigator, while stuff like Acute Senses and Perceive Cues are also useful down the line.
Mama Bess |
Speaking of barkskin...now that I've got +2 benevolent armor I'll be granting a whopping +6 to AC to any of yall who are attacked while standing adjacent to me. (+2 of that's an enhancement bonus so if you already have magic armor that part won't stack).
DM Stalwart |
This next week for me is going to be staggeringly busy. My ability to post is going to drop off. I hope that in a day or two, I can give you the parameters of the assignment and let you all do the job similar to how I started this campaign. You take the lead, but hopefully you will do a group plan that calls upon each member's skills. That way, you can have some fun while I take care of my busy week. Then we'll pick up with going after Two-Bolt in earnest.
Sound good?
Ghiv Masdara |
Hey guys,
I have drill this weekend so that means sparser posting, and then only in the evenings from my laptop in the hotel.
Thanks!
Yamyra Demir |
I don't want to drop this game, but I do want to formally say that I am very busy right now. So I probably will not be making many substantial RP posts for the foreseeable future. I can do combat posts and some conversation, but don't be expecting any epic ideas out of me.
The reasons for this are I'm currently working three jobs (one main, two part time), going to university, and starting/running a sword fighting club from the ground up. Further, I will be having a baby in a couple months. So yeah, I apologize for the lack of posts, but I'm not sure how much that is going to change anytime soon.
DM Stalwart |
Well, I'm back from my vacation(s). Seems like we've got players with varying abilities to contribute to the plan, although there's already the workings of one in place.
Since it'll probably be nice to move things along, how about those who have the time and inclination, wrap up the lieutenant's assassination, then I'll get the rest of the adventure going.
Yamyra, thanks for the head's up, and hopefully you'll be able to put some posts up when we get back to the usual format.
Aaand, there's also some bad news. Mama's player had PM'd me about cutting almost all of his games, including this one. I think he'll pop in with a few posts just to finish out this mission so Bess doesn't completely disappear, which will be nice and is appreciated.
So we're down to four after Bess leaves for good. A small, crack team had been my original plan, but there might be some other interested players who have the time to throw at it. Does anyone have thoughts about opening this game up again to some new blood?
Yamyra Demir |
I'd be fine with four, or with more. Whatever works better for the group. Since this is all homebrew it should be easy to tailor the challenge to us at whatever group size. If we added someone with epic posting habits it would probably help, but if we add someone who is an infrequent poster I think it would just magnify the issues we're already facing.
Eris Triguna |
Would maybe prefer one more person, just because without Mama, we are really short on knowledge skills at the moment, and thats going to kick up in the groin sooner rather than later (we couldn't have done half the things so far without Mama's knowledge skills). If we can fix this though, then I don't have an issue.
gyrfalcon |
Yes, as Stalwart said, work and family--including a very happy promotion--have conspired to make me bow out of all of my games but the two longest running.
Of them, this was by far the most painful to decide to leave, but (in part due to the nature of the game, and who Mama is) playing her is a lot of strategic thinking and RPing, and I know I can't do that justice right now.
That said, I want to make the transition as smooth as I can so Stalwart please let me know (here or in PM) how you want to handle Mama's exit.
For the rest of yall, this is a good game with some great RP and interesting problem solving. I'm sorry not to be sticking with yall!
Eris Triguna |
Just realised I might have made an error slightly in my character build. The intention was for Eris to (eventually) enter into the Veiled Illusionist PrC, because I saw nothing in the requirments about having to physically worship Sivanah. If that my assumption was false, I'll prolly have to think about a new direction for Eris come levels 6-->
DM Stalwart |
Sorry, Ghiv, about not being clear. I had assumed you were familiar with how I started this campaign off. I had set the scene in broad strokes, and let the players fill in the details as they infiltrated a compound as they saw fit. I likened it to the start of a heist movie where each character is introduced by doing something they're good at. Sort of a "show, don't tell" way of letting each player introduce their character.
It seemed like everyone enjoyed that part, so I thought I'd revisit it for this job. Sorry again for the confusion.
Ghiv Masdara |
Thanks for letting me know, however I'm not really enjoying this game, or gelling well with the players in it. I'm going to have to withdraw from it. Best of luck and happy gaming.
DM Stalwart |
Well, sorry it's not working out for you. Best of luck.
Aaand, then there were three. I think I can work with the changing lineup, and maybe throw a twist or two with the addition of some new players. Assuming, that is, that everyone else wants to keep going. I'm hopeful the answer is yes, since I would really like to keep it running. I'm generating some interest in the recruitment board, and think we'll have some fresh blood very soon.
Sa'Kage |
That's too bad Niles, but I kind of guessed that already.
I'm happy to keep going, but some fresh blood might be appropriate! (Pun intended).
Yamyra Demir |
Hi! I'm Yamyra the unchained rogue. I'm not one of the frequent posters unfortunately, but hopefully that can change with some new blood. Welcome!
I would read from here if I were you.
Sa'Kage |
Awesome fresh meat for the grinder! ;)
DM Stalwart |
Welcome, new arrivals. The link Yamyra provided will give some good background information. I'll be bringing the game back to life in a little bit, once I give the new players some further information about how they'll be brought in.
In the meantime, pop in, say hello, and introduce yourselves. We'll return with our regularly scheduled assassination shortly.
Yanmei |
Hello all! I'm admiring your story so far. Love the characters!
The Geisha bows at the waist, her hands pressed together in front of her, "Greetings, gracious lords and ladies. I am Yanmei, your hostess this evening." Her arm extends fluidly out to indicate a table set for tea. Passing by, you catch the feint glimpse of a shimmer to her features. Fey? No, it was not the sparkle of a fairy. Instead, parts of her cheeks had a sheen like gems...or scales. She kept her eyes low but the corner of her mouth was turned up in a smile that was both sensual and sinister at the same time.
Yanmei is a Geisha who aspires to be a holder of dangerous secrets. She knows that information is power and the proper trade, twisting, and timed release of information is a deadly weapon all it's on. She has some defense training, but prefers to lull her targets into a false sense of security while her allies set up for the attack. She knows the power that the Red Mantis holds and believes joining their ranks would be a great maneuver toward that power.
At least, that's how I imagine her tactics will develop. Where she is on that journey is up to our GM.
DM Stalwart |
I think the best way to bring you in would be to make you two the original assassins of Two-Bolt. Then you left Riddleport to head... somewhere else. It really doesn't matter to me except that you were out of contact long enough that another group was tasked to perform cleanup. Since there is a delay I'm working in, word of Two-Bolt's resurrection has reached you, so you've returned to Riddleport, wherein you will meet with the rest of the team.
What would be great (though not entirely necessary, if you can't coordinate it) would be a description of the original kill. Something like the free-form assassination that I started the campaign with (if you've looked at the first page of this adventure, I allowed a diceless storytelling for the infiltration of the compound for the first mission).
Or, barring that, you could just describe the job in-character if the other characters ask how it was done.
Jon-Wyn, I note that you set your character's origin as Magnimar. That works great since it's in Varisia. Gafar, you're going to be a bit better-traveled, but that's fine.
Any questions for me before I kick this game back into gear?
Dax Thura |
The basics that we've agreed on are
* I get into the gang and help with a couple of basic jobs. Somewhere along the way a job goes wrong (with your help), but (again with your help) I'm able to pull it off anyway.
* I save the lieutenant's life from a hit from a rival gang (you).
* Now that I'm in the inner circle, I get the boss alone and we kill him.
* We leave Riddleport.
DM Stalwart |
Awesome! I've set up the introduction, so I'm glad you've got an idea of the assassination to describe. The only thing I ask is that you have nothing to do with his head being missing. If you like, you could be the ones who removed it, but it stays behind.
Oh, and the one who hired you was an intermediary, so you don't know who was actually behind it. That's common in the Red Mantis, so if you are captured you cannot divulge the person who hired you.
Sa'Kage |
Agreed we have a spare mask, but is it our place to give it to somebody new? I don't think Kage would have a problem with taking somebody on as a trail but the actual indoctrination into the mystery would presumably be done by somebody else?
Sa'Kage |
Understood loud and clear :)
Sa'Kage |
So Yamara has a good point. Adamantine weapons are somewhat expensive at 3000g + base weapon cost. We did get a 500g stipend at one point but beyond that we've handwaved loot (which is mostly a good thing!).
I'm not really sure how to proceed here. Stalwart I guess I'm looking for some guidance.
