Presumably, you'll eventually get worried if you don't see them come out. How long it takes before that happens is up to you. Of course, if they want help, someone could stick their head out and call to you guys.

List of things to do:
1. Call for help!
2. Call for Help!
3. Call for HELP!
4. CALL FOR HELP!!!
5. Give a stern talking to those who did not come to help.

Question / opinion please: Is it possible for Luna to use her action on her turn to administer a healing potion to Hack even if he should be up? (I don't know if that can even be done?) - Or would my action be better spent trying to attack the warrior in hopes of killing him off?
My thinking is that Hack has a much better chance of hitting him, and he does a LOT more damage than I do.
Quint Rue |
Though I'm not sure the rules allow for it, I would think that administering a potion to a willing target wouldn't be too much harder than doing it to an unconscious one. I would spend the action doing some damage, though, especially after Nikeisha's crit. That crit may even make the point moot.

About the grid map. It is possible we have an enemy or gremlins. Both of which are possible with a publicly editable Google Drawing. When I went in this morning to adjust things I saw that Nikeisha and Psalm's icons were gone, along with a LOT of the downed bad guys. In addition some of the fire icons had completely disappeared. I've fixed everything I noticed was missing. I'll have to keep an eye on it. If these "little" glitches keep happening. I may have to take away the public edit-ability of the map and instead invite you all specifically as editors. We'll see. :)

Speaking of cats (see gameplay), I just did a search to look for mentions of cats in this game, after realizing that I had erroneously included the sounds of a distant fight between cats as background in one of my narrative posts. In the process, I also noticed that the "priestess" at the Temple of Light back in Blueblossom had a cat, which according to the rules Mended laid out for this world, means that she must have at least one level as a wizard. There was probably a lot more to that story that we failed to uncover...
Of course, that was several months before Mended brought up the thing about cats, saying "it hasn't really come up until now", so maybe he hadn't made that decision about the world yet at that time?
MendedWall12 |
Oh no, there was a lot more about that priestess to discover, but that angle lost a lot of its luster when you lost all your Order of Faith connected characters. ;) There were still a great number of things to discover in Blueblossom Haven, if you wanted to go looking, but when we transitioned back to Rydwyrna, it was mostly because I felt people's energy level for the investigation waning, so I wanted to spark some new life into the campaign. Thus the boat ride. Also, just so you are aware, there are a fair number of cats, even cats that hang out in alleys, alley cats if you will, in Rydwyrna, but that doesn't change the fact that they are, all of them, some caster's familiar or wild shaped druid. Doesn't have to be strictly a wizrd's familiar either, there are other ways to give a character that spell. Case in point... Seems like there are probably a fair number of owls flying around that aren't just looking for mice to eat, too... o.O
Now we just need a professor Dumbledore, some quidditch tournaments, and we'll have ourselves a regular wizarding world... :P
Quint Rue |
I guess that's true. Find Familiar is only on the wizard spell list (arcane tricksters cast wizard spells), but can be obtained by others (even those without levels in a casting class) through the Ritual Caster feat.
Quint Rue |
Which I suppose brings up the question of how common it is for a person to have a familiar in this world? Presumably, most wizards have them, but (although the spell description would suggest otherwise) plenty of others can, too.
The sender in Blueblossom also had a rabbit, who I had assumed must just be a pet since she seemed to be a bard, not wizard. It probably was a familiar, though, and she either had Wizard levels (at least one) or the Ritual Caster feat (Senders need to be at least level 5, which means they have an opportunity to take a feat, even if they are not variant humans).
Quint Rue |
Btw, confirmed that the attackers are followers of Kraiula. That indicates that the Aranon Ethalion guys and the Kraiula guys are opposed to one another, and thus that the Aranon Ethalion guys we've been tracking all this time might be potential allies.
MendedWall12 |
@Everybody: I really need a consensus on WHERE you all want to go? Take the long way home going out of your way, just to end up back at The Black Pegasus, in order to avoid running into the Order Guard? Or some other destination? Feel free to discuss here in discussion, or in character.
MendedWall12 |
You're only a few city blocks from the Pegasus, but to go there directly you'd be walking right into the approaching squad of Order Guard. You could either go south to the Docks and back around Castle Redwood from the south and west, or go north and come back through District 5, to District 4, and then south to the Pegasus. None of which is vitally important. I really just need to know if you want to go to the Pegasus, and if so, do you, in fact, want to go around, or do you want to try an mosey through the oncoming squad and convince them that you don't know anything about the mansion that's burning to the ground. :)

Around! round! Around!
Quint Rue |
My suspicion is that Quint probably won't find the guy. He won't stop looking, but the guy has probably already escaped. The guy may, however, have escaped into a secret tunnel under the building or something that Quint has a chance to find.

Hi everybody!
A couple of things I need to let everyone know about. Thing the first, I'll be leaving today for some holiday festivities with family, and will not be able to check in for a few days. I should be able to take a look Monday morning, but, for me, not posting on weekends isn't really out of the normal. Still, just wanted to let everyone know, as of about noon today, I won't even be looking at the boards for a while.
Thing the second, and this is kind of a big one. I have recently discovered the website Gamers Plane. It is a fully dedicated PbP site with integrated character sheets for a LOT of the major (and minor for that matter) RPG systems, including 5e. I have only just begun to play around with their functionality, but if it is as nice as initial investigations and Reddit reviews lead me to believe. I may want to move our game over there. Obviously, I would need all of you on board for such a switch as that requires familiarizing yourself with a completely different set of tools and UI. So, if you all want to go ahead and check out Gamers Plane, and give me some feedback on what you think about it, I'd appreciate it. Also, if we all decided that switching the venue for this game to that website was worth it, I would offer my gratitude in the form of a level up for all characters. ;) :D
Have a great weekend!
Mended

Gonna look at it right now.
Nikeisha |
I've signed up, but I can't really work out much with it. It's not really set up to let you see another game, so I can't see much.
I think I'd rather stay here unless there's a really good reason to switch.
Shenkt "Hack" Corchran |
I signed up as well..looks like a straight forward PbP with some character sheet features. I would be willing to give it a go if everyone else is game.
Bellaluna 'Luna' Liaqirelle |
I signed up ... sort of. It said it would send me an email with instructions to activate the account and more than an hour late the email had not come yet. I had to come to work, and my work internet won't let me check g-mail. They have it blocked for some stupid reason.
From what I was able to look at it did seem to have some interesting things (being able to add sounds?!?!), and as a DM I would find it nice if all the players had the same character sheet format to make it easier to check things out.
I will look again once I'm able to actually get into it.
Quint Rue |
On initial inspection, it doesn't look like there's much you can do to try out the platform's features without a game already existing. Maybe create the thread there and let us try out the platform before deciding whether to move the game to it?
MendedWall12 |
I lied... :P I found time and internet enough to reply back quickly. About moving over to Gamers Plane, it was my intent to start a "practice" game over there so we could all play with the functionality, but I wanted to make sure everyone was on board with that first. About not getting the activation email. I had to actually email them directly, like it says in the email activation screen. Just send them an email at contact@gamersplane.com and they should get back to you within 24 hours with a link to activate. I do not have time to set up the game, or make an in-game post until Monday, but I will do that as soon as I have the chance, and I'll pop in here to let you know how to access that newly set up private game.
@Quint, just wanted to let you know that since we are using the XGE tool proficiency rules you automatically get advantage when using investigation or perception to look for traps, because you have proficiency with thieve's tools! :) So if you want to roll that perception check again, you can, and use the higher of the two. Or you could also roll two investigation checks, and take the higher as well. Whichever you prefer. :) I love the tool advantage rules in XGE. :)
See you Monday!
Bellaluna 'Luna' Liaqirelle |
Yep, I had to email the gamersplane directly as well after 4 requests for the activation email I never got. Just did that this morning, so I still have not been able to look at it much. The very fact that it seems to happen to so many does not bode well for it being a good sight to use, at least in regards to things working the proper way.
Psalm Nackle |
I have not looked into the other site yet. I will. The biggest draw back another site would have for me is not that it would or wouldn't have cooler features but if it is active and has updates those updates don't show up on the one screen I have on this site that shows me all my games at a glance.
Quint Rue |
Ok, I sent the email and got my account activated.
I input my character data. So far, I'm not impressed. There's no way to do the double proficiency bonus for skills with Expertise, and there doesn't seem to be any way to denote a spell's level in the spell list, or how many slots of a given spell level the character has.
Quint Rue |
I realize now that I should have tried to make an argument that feeling around with the tools would be a Perception (Dexterity) check. With Quint's Dex bonus and Expertise in Perception, that would have been a +8 modifier...

Those are exactly the kinds of things I was looking to learn from this test. Speaking of... I have set up a test game with a first thread set up for testing. There are some things I like about the setup over there, like embedding images, and choosing whatever image you want for your character, not picking from a set of stock images. I like the ability to hide dice rolls from the players with the basic dice roller. I do NOT like that the character sheets aren't actually integrated. They are basically the same as an alias here. I would like to play around with things further, and have you all play around with them as well. In order to do that you'll need to submit a character to the game. You can find it in the "Forums" menu under "Private System Test." So, whenever you get a chance, go ahead and submit a character to that. I'm not sure if, as the GM, I have to approve characters or how that works. That's another thing I need to learn. If you are capable, the first thread of the game is here. Jump in and test out the system to see if you like it or not.
:) Happy Holidays to everyone. :)
Quint Rue |
I applied to join. It didn't ask anything about a character when I was doing so, so you probably won't see "Quint" as the name...
Quint Rue |
Ah, well that's a little annoying. You have to apply as a player, then once you are accepted as a player, you THEN have to submit a character for approval.
MendedWall12 |
I wondered about that. The double approval is definitely another annoying thing, but I suppose if you are recruiting strangers, approving players first, and characters second might be how some DMs desire to do that. Quint is approved. I very much agree with you that the character sheets are basically pointless, because you have to enter everything from scratch anyway, and there is no way to roll dice directly from the sheet either. Point being, the more I learn about the website, the less I like it. If I were just now attempting PbP that might be a good place to start, but having been here for so long, I'm inclined to think I'd rather stay with the beast I know, than try and conquer the beast I don't know. I'll let everyone play around with things first before we make the ultimate decision though. Maybe we'll discover something really amazing that alters our very viewpoint about PbPing. XD
Quint Rue |
You also can't insert dice rolls into the text and preview the outcomes (thus allowing you to narrate the results).
Nikeisha |
You can do the same on Paizo. Simply hit Preview and it'll roll - once rolled it won't change for at least a couple of days.
I'll join up later today at work. I do a lot of posting there, so if it doesn't work there I won't be able to use it.
Quint Rue |
I do that here on Paizo. I'm saying you can't do it there.

Another great thought, I hadn't previously had. I know you aren't the only one that normally posts from work. That too will be a huge determining factor.
About the dice rolling preview, I have found that I, at least, can edit every single post in that thread. Perhaps that is just because I am the GM of the game? I have to say that, that capability is actually VERY intriguing to me, because it means that I can retcon anything anyone posted to fix it for mistakes. Can you edit your previous posts still Quint? Or does it not allow that? If you can, you could post something with dice rolls, and then edit it after seeing the rolls in order to continue to narrate a post. I did, and in so doing realized that the dice rolls always stay at the bottom. They would never be incorporated into the flow of the post. Another dislike for me. It seems the more I play with Gamer's Plane, the more I find both new likes and dislikes... I'd really like to get everyone else's input. So, please, everyone, let me know when you've applied as a character to our Private System Test over there, and submitted a character, so I can get you set up with playing around with functionality. :)
Thanks!!!

Mmmm, just realized, another thing that others might want to check out is the subscription to thread system.
If you subscribe to thread, is it going to give you a notification, an email, a PM on the website, etcetera to let you know that activity has happened? Are those notifications customizable, so as not to be intrusive, but also to maximize efficiency? I know Paizo's own subscription to threads system has had a number of bugs over the years.
Bellaluna 'Luna' Liaqirelle |
Merry Christmas to all!!!
I am going to test now to see if I can access the other system from work now (Yes I have to work my full shift from 4:30 pm to 1:00 AM on Christmas eve AND Christmas day!!!!!). The results of this will also greatly affect my vote.
Bellaluna 'Luna' Liaqirelle |
I am able to access Gamers Plane from work. I have requested to join the game. We shall see.

Don't know how the thread subscriptions work there. I've subscribed to the thread, but nobody else has posted there since, so I haven't received a notification.
Does Paizo have notifications at all? Have I been missing them all this time? I've been rolling my own solutions to notifications this whole time. I'm currently using a desktop RSS notifier to see when a new post comes in. I also found a way to get notifications on my phone via IFTTT, but they're significantly delayed.
Quint Rue |
Correction, Mended now has posted there, and I don't see any kind of notification...
The site also doesn't appear to have RSS feeds, so I'd need a heavier-weight option to set up my own. Big minus in my book.
