Hardish feels an unusual excitement and anticipation as he prepares for the door to be opened. He knows that he may come into more conflict with Kodavi, and he prepares his rapier for just such a case. Nonetheless, Hardish can't help but remember a similar anticipation from his youth. He was standing outside of another door, awaiting another woman to prepare the way. She was ensuring that her parents were out and that her siblings were all outside playing or away. She had told the young suitor, Hardish, to wait outside in the shadows before she finally let him in. In their giddy delight, Hardish and the woman accidentally broke a glass. It was that broken glass that gave the girl away. She thought she had cleaned it all up, but there was still a chunk missing. When her father found the shard of glass left and his daughter's lies didn't add up, that was all the evidence he needed. Hardish never saw the girl again and the next time he went to the house, they had moved away.

Round 3
Brock makes sure to be next to Kayla, and is ready to get into melee.

Round 4

Brock puts the hurt on one of them but does not down him. Lucas does similar putting an arrow in the shoulder of an angry raging man. Daniel slices an arm off with an overhead chop dropping the man to the ground then the men press in on each of you.

Lucas gets hit twice for 3 and 4, as his Protections make his wounds not as severe. Daniel only takes on hit from a club which will likely leave a nasty bruise. Stein dodges the attacks swinging his way as Ryada gets pinned below the two men in the corner. Kayla is now grappled as they feel her up as they do. Brock finds himself not being targeted now being adjacent to Kayla and next to the bar with Stein on it.

Go!!!

Hardish:

The door opens slowly after the locks turn. She smiles at Hardish and motions for them to enter. She quickly shuts the door after them and locks the door in a quick motion. She looks at you with an uplifted eyebrow waiting just in case you try something now. She held no weapons but her hands are now behind her back.

This appears to be a bunker of some kind. One large room perhaps 30 feet by 30 feet. Several chairs and tables are around the room besides a large bed, file cabinets, shelves and a comfy looking couch. It has the feel of both the modern world and Golarian. The walls are raw concrete but covered with paintings and a few tapestries. All the furniture is at least 10 feet away from the door.

Wasn't Troas also coming down the ladder? Hardish takes note of the sudden appearance of a door and notes that that is likely a sign of further deception in the room. "For the moment, she can stay here." Hardish tells Fatima to play quietly and to stay close. "Now, my first question for you is: Why the sudden change? We had complied fully up to the point when you started waking your harem and began threatening us. What changed that you didn't trust us to stay willingly and that you needed to add intimidation?"

Hardish:
Troas was coming down but he is behind the nun.

She scoffs after he says 'her harem', then she continues to smile and has a seat on the couch, touching his arm lightly as she walks by. In that same sweet voice she answers him, "The benefactors orders since the paladin truely is what he says he is, she wanted to make sure you were all compliant. Though she cares for us as much as we do a bug. We are her tools and playthings."

Understand taking a step closer to Lucas means straddling the trap door, with a high chance to fall in considering it would be a DC 12 Acrobatics check. Also I need an acrobatics check from your last 5 foot step.

The bar is surrounded by your allies and enemies. Behind the bar is the trapdoor going down with a visible ladder. Several have already gone down. The bar seems to have space to duck down into though it looks rather crowded down there right now. The raging men are yelling and trying to kill the men in your party, it seems they have other things on their minds when it comes to the women as Ryada is having her shorts ripped off her.

Daniel takes down another one, one of the foolish men who followed him.

Let's be a bit more descriptive otherwise I will choose your target. I will color code the men tonight so you can designate which one better, though some direction or using the coordinate grid would work, you could even mark them with a circle or something.

"...And the paladin had not agreed to remain of his own volition, so more forceful methods were required? I see. I can certainly understand doing whatever it takes to get what you want." Hardish turns to Kodavi again. "However, my remaining here does not require such coercion, and I am not bound to the paladin's fate. I ask only safety for my child there, and the freedom to decide my own fate." Hardish moves to Kodavi and carefully, deftly slides his rapier's edge up her leg, causing no damage, but perhaps stimulating her some more.

Hardish:
Round 10 works, though this interaction likley takes a few rounds of its own.

It looks like there is two dead bolts and a thief stopper, a metal bar to stop nearly anything from getting in barring destroying the door. The theif stopper is not in place and just the two locks were secured.

She simply responds, "I don't know the story I just follow orders and gain information from her telepathy with me. All females are given sanctuary so she is welcome to stay. Our lowest pawns go into the land around and collect food for us, then there are the playthings and finally the guards. If you want freedom here then you will choose to be a forager or come up with another position you would like. Why don't you use another sword of yours and see what happens." She smiles as he begins to play with her, she lays back just a bit more getting more relaxed as the rapier traces up her leg. She also takes a deep breath in the further the tip goes.

Just as the tip of the rapier gets halfway up her thigh there is beating on the door and a yell, "Do I need to beat this door down, is there another exit beyond the door, or should I go up and help the others?"

Hardish stands for a moment, then he smiles wryly at Kodavi. He believes he can trust her, if for no other reason than that she gains nothing from betraying him just yet. He speaks to Fatima briefly. "Ne t'inquietes pas. Je te protégé pour toujours. Je vais revenir encore. Je te laisse avec cette Madame là. On a discuté, et elle n'est pas aussi mechante que tu pense. Kayla now free from the man that was holding her does her best to dodge and weave over to the trap door. She likely says something to keep inspiring Maldor. Though the other man quickly snatches her and holds her so she can't get away.

Ryada gets free from the pin again and continues the grapple with the man hoping to get free soon even missing her shorts.

Daniel you would not have enough actions to detect evil for Round 5. You do see a hurt and bleeding woman under the bar.

Daniel does not get enough room to get a charge but still enough to hit the man and down him. His jump is enough to keep the others from anticipating it and get him over the gap.

The man holding Kayla takes her to the ground pinning her. The other men around yell and attack with their weapons but either miss entirely or the armor of their targets takes the blows. The lite gets hit a couple of times but shrugs off the damage.

The man on Kayla pins her to the ground once more, he tries to smack her face but she moves at the right time and misses the flailing hand. Brock you are behind again. Your posts are for a round ahead so Round 7 is actually round 8.

Round 7
The alchemist quickly stows his weapon and dodges for the trap door. He makes it there and begins to descend. Lucas comes too with the healing from Daniel and grabs his bow.

Round 8

Maldor's shot takes down the man next to him. Kayla gets free from the pin as well cutting the man with her dagger as she does it. Ryada makes for the trapdoor and slides by Daniel.

The door leading out of the bar to the hallway to leave the tower seems to be barely bulging. As you hear bodies slam against it as it sounds like they are trying to get in to the bar.

Daniel's lite, takes its turn to shoot a ray at Maldor and gives him a magical glow to the man, as light emits from him. The light shoots off as a blinding wave stopping all the drugged men in their steps, blind and shaking from the light. The blinding flash only affects each of you for a moment but has lingering effects on those attacking your group.

Perception DC 20, free action:
The doors seem to glimmer with a magical glow of some kind as if they are magically shut.

Maldor:
You hear a voice, you are not sure if it is in your head but you don't see the presence of who speaks it, "You protect those that you expect nothing from. You could become one of my disciples. For now I will grant you a boon, call upon the Lady of Light if you need any other help. If you do decide to become my disciple come to me at Sandpoint."

You gain shield of faith +5 on deflection until the end of battle.

Daniel:
You hear a voice, you are not sure if it is in your head but you don't see the presence of who speaks it, "You are a paladin that still upholds the tenements to your order, perhaps you could serve me. Call upon the Lady of Light if you need help and if you wish to become my disciple come to Sandpoint, I will be waiting."

Lucas:
You hear a voice, you are not sure if it is in your head but you don't see the presence of who speaks it, "You may not believe it but there are still demigods and godlings in this world, come to Sandpoint and I will prove it to you. The succubus will hold you to her will but there is a way to escape. Go down the ladder to the secret room in the bunker. Alright ya useless bird! get in there! I don't care how much you hate cramped spaces, you are gonna do it!

Maia-

Round 8

Lite responds, "A divinity has given me her presence. Not Sarenrae but perhaps an elder god, one of the many that were sent here to pay for their crimes. Perhaps the great Heavens had the foresight to send them here."

Just to let you know Daniel: move action to put 'away' the greatsword, move action to pull out scimitar, move action to pull out shield, and move action to don shield. So which two move actions do you do first?

The fair skinned blue haired woman below the bar shouts out, "The light it brings out the truth, take me with you, let this evil place be- Argghhhh!" She screams in pain as she begins to come out of the bar hiding spot she stops what she is saying and screams her face aging, pimples showing up, and spots on her skin appear. She then whimpers and simply says, "help."

Round 8

Considering it is a climb DC 0 to go at 1/4 your speed down the ladder or DC 5 to go at 1/2 your speed. She likely just needed the helping hand that offers to help.

Lucas offers his hand and the blue woman gladly takes it with his strong grip he helps her out of her hiding spot and they begin to go down the ladder.

Round 9

Just to get things moving a bit along, since I am sure I know what Maldor will do. Feel free to post it as you wish and give it more flavor if you want or recon it and change your action.

Maldor drops his morningstar which has a strap that connects to his belt. He grabs Kayla and pulls her along with him to the trapdoor. Luckily the men are still staggered and don't strike out at them. As he moves he stows his handgun waiting for a brief moment to let Kayla to start to climb down.

Round 10

Kayla climbs down, Maldor after her as he secures his morning star better, and Cedric follows, closing the trapdoor.

Kodavi eyes the group as they come into the bunker. She is just returning from a side room. "What is this I thought you were going up!" She seems to be demanding a response from Hardish.

Troas, the nun, Rayada, and the alchemist come into the room.

In Round 11 Lucas and the blue skinned woman will join them in the bunker.

Then the last three assuming they get moving will get down by Round 12.

So here's my thought for Kayla (again, she's modeled off someone I know =). 15 yr old female modern human. I'd like to give her bard abilities, except bardic knowledge. But she would have 1st-level bard spells and bard performance (Countersong, Distraction, Fascinate, Inspire Courage). Brock won't know this at first (obviously), and neither does Kayla. I'll work in her developing/finding out about these abilities as we go. You can also make inspire Courage only apply to Brock and Jetta, and Distraction and Fascinate on others...up to you. Thanks!

Interesting Brock, its up to you. If you want to keep her the way she is I need some more background information of her life. She could have been a singer in the modern world and knows how to Distract, Fascinate, and Inspire Courage. She just has been too shy and scared to really try. I am sure we can make it different enough. Are you willing to play her rather than I taking her over?

--------------------
Traits
--------------------
Charming: Blessed with good looks, you've come to depend on the fact that others find you attractive. You gain a +1 trait bonus when you use Bluff or Diplomacy on a character that is (or could be) sexually attracted to you, and a +1 trait bonus to the save DC of any language-dependent spell you cast on such characters or creatures.
Desperate Survivor: You are so desperate, you use up your energy and resources in order to accomplish the task at a determent to your continued ability to go on. Once per 24 hours, or until rested for at least 8 hours, add +5 to any skill check, saving throw, or +3 to attack & damage for one round. Afterward the desperation costs you, take a -1 to all skill checks, saving throws, attack and damage rolls for 24 hours. Once the penalty wears off, it is usable again. This increase to +10/+5 and -2 at level 10. And then to +15/+10 and -3 at level 20.
Mathematical Prodigy: Mathematics has always come easily for you, and you have always been able to “see the math” in the physical and magical world. You gain a +1 bonus on Knowledge (arcana) and Knowledge (engineering) checks
--------------------
Feats
--------------------
Dodge: You gain a +1 dodge bonus to your AC. A condition that makes you lose your Dex bonus to AC also makes you lose the benefits of this feat.
Eschew Materials: You can cast any spell with a material component costing 1 gp or less without needing that component.
--------------------
Special Abilities
--------------------
Bardic Performance: A bard is trained to use the Perform skill to create magical effects on those around him, including himself if desired. He can use this ability for a number of rounds per day equal to 4 + his Charisma modifier. At each level after 1st a bard can use bardic performance for 2 additional rounds per day. Each round, the bard can produce any one of the types of bardic performance that he has mastered, as indicated by his level.
. . . Starting a bardic performance is a standard action, but it can be maintained each round as a free action. Changing a bardic performance from one effect to another requires the bard to stop the previous performance and start a new one as a standard action. A bardic performance cannot be disrupted, but it ends immediately if the bard is killed, paralyzed, stunned, knocked unconscious, or otherwise prevented from taking a free action to maintain it each round. A bard cannot have more than one bardic performance in effect at one time.

Distraction (Su): At 1st level, a bard can use his performance to counter magic effects that depend on sight. Each round of the distraction, he makes a Perform (act, comedy, dance, or oratory) skill check. Any creature within 30 feet of the bard (including the bard himself) that is affected by an illusion (pattern) or illusion (figment) magical attack may use the bard's Perform check result in place of its saving throw if, after the saving throw is rolled, the Perform skill check proves to be higher. If a creature within range of the distraction is already under the effect of a noninstantaneous illusion (pattern) or illusion (figment) magical attack, it gains another saving throw against the effect each round it sees the distraction, but it must use the bard's Perform skill check result for the save. Distraction does not work on effects that don't allow saves. Distraction relies on visual components.

Fascinate (Su): At 1st level, a bard can use his performance to cause one or more creatures to become fascinated with him. Each creature to be fascinated must be within 90 feet, able to see and hear the bard, and capable of paying attention to him. The bard must also be able to see the creatures affected. The distraction of a nearby combat or other dangers prevents this ability from working. For every three levels the bard has attained beyond 1st, he can target one additional creature with this ability.
. . . Each creature within range receives a Will save (DC 10 + 1/2 the bard's level + the bard's Cha modifier) to negate the effect. If a creature's saving throw succeeds, the bard cannot attempt to fascinate that creature again for 24 hours. If its saving throw fails, the creature sits quietly and observes the performance for as long as the bard continues to maintain it. While fascinated, a target takes a –4 penalty on all skill checks made as reactions, such as Perception checks. Any potential threat to the target allows the target to make a new saving throw against the effect. Any obvious threat, such as someone drawing a weapon, casting a spell, or aiming a weapon at the target, automatically breaks the effect.
. . . Fascinate is an enchantment (compulsion), mind-affecting ability. Fascinate relies on audible and visual components in order to function.

Inspire Courage (Su): A 1st-level bard can use his performance to inspire courage in his allies (including himself), bolstering them against fear and improving their combat abilities. To be affected, an ally must be able to perceive the bard's performance. An affected ally receives a +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls. At 5th level, and every six bard levels thereafter, this bonus increases by +1, to a maximum of +4 at 17th level. Inspire courage is a mind-affecting ability. Inspire courage can use audible or visual components. The bard must choose which component to use when starting his performance.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A bard is proficient with all simple weapons, plus the longsword, rapier, sap, short sword, shortbow, and whip. Bards are also proficient with light armor and shields (except tower shields). A bard can cast bard spells while wearing light armor and use a shield without incurring the normal arcane spell failure chance.

Ugh.

Is this game just going to happen late and pass me by?

I was really thinking that - in the first round, I'd get off bowshots.

Did they suddenly just appear within range to pounce on us?

I will respond to your posts when I can.

I posted for Round 1 actions...

Ryada, get inside with the packmule - give them whatever food we have left. I can get more!

Savaric turns and backs toward the gate - he'll fire when he gets the chance.

I took that as your round 1 actions, you may still shoot if you want.

I will be waiting for your actions to be posted before having the zombies attack for round 3. Though I hope to have Round 3 done tonight.

Liberty's Edge

It's ok.

We never even got a possible perception roll against unintelligent undead we knew were coming, and I built an archer. I can't play a survival game when the game is stacked against me.

I need to withdraw.

So you choose to withdraw without bringing up the issue. I know I am not perfect at what I do and forget somethings. We should work on reminding each other when something is forgotten. Yes a perception check should have been made to see or hear the undead coming your direction to see if you act in surprise round that is my fault. If you are willing to stick around and see how things work that is up to you, I hope you make that decision.

Good Luck.

So if you stick around I would need a DC 17 perception check to see if you act in surprise round. Then your actions for the first two rounds, if not the third.

Liberty's Edge

They run that stealthily?

as much as I am a stickler for rules, sometimes creative and thematic license needs and should be taken.

-You knew you were being chased, IIRC without looking noone except one took time to scan the trees.

-Its a forest, all manner of undergrowth and shadows to distort vision and the like, sound tapers out quite quickly, especially if other sound is around, talking, I assume loudly since someone was trying to steal can cause quite the distraction.

-Archers work quite capably in 30ft ranges, hell for most melee you just take a 5ft step back and make a pin cushion out of em.

- The whole Idea behind the game IS that the odds are stacked against you. I am surprised we got to the village so easily.

-I blew a nat 20 on a diplo check and got crap all out of it :P except a sense I should not go up (which may or may not be a blessing). But hey, thems the lumps, make do with what ya got. Its hard GMing, and even harder GMing a PbP due to time issues, posting times and the like. If you point something out you really think is unfair and the GM is willing to fix the problem and admit he was wrong I don't see the problem.

anyway, thats my 2 cents. I just hope I get a little more info before venturing further. lol. Glad I used detect evil :P

Liberty's Edge

You aren't playing an archer who depends on perception. You also didn't get pickpocketed out of a closed pack for a specific item instantaneously, no perception roll. Fast stealth is a rogue talent, not usually available...I could go on, and it's the beginning of the game.

Have fun.

Thanks Cedric. Sorry to see Eldon go but I don't want a player who doesn't want to be here or willing to work with me.

Oh Cedric be glad you got what you asked for, if you asked other questions she would likely answer. You will find out soon enough...

on a non humours note- Hope ya find something more ya style mate.

Right Daniel, it was rather strong.

Hardish went for a slight of hand check, Rayda did an opposing perception check because the mule had the gear on it. I randomly assigned the items in the mule's pack and Hardish got antiplague. I thought that was rather simple. Eldon if you are still around how would have you done it?

Just to let you know Fridays are almost always busy for me and weekends get busy normally. So the main game days will be Monday through Thursday. I will still try to get a post in on Friday and the weekend days. Thanks for understanding and let's see what happens next.

I am willing to do each of you at the same time with spoilers unless you want time to speak with the other strangers before you go up. I am fine either way. It could give you some time to connect to each other while the first goes up. Whatever you guys want to do.

If the spoilers say so here. If talking to each other as someone goes upstairs continue to roleplay. The first person sent up will be an NPC that showed up before you all. So it will give some time to talk to each other and stratagize how to connect and survive.

Shadow Lodge

Female Human Cleric 2/Witch 1

On a chance excursion into the forest you spot two young girls and an older man, all human. All three are building a makeshift shelter in the trees with a heavy fishing net and some iron pitons, part hammock - part treehouse.

Of the three, a lithe blonde girl with half her head shaven who can be no more than 20 catches sight of you. She looks startled! Words of magic come to her reflexively and shadow-stuff begins to form around her right hand into...

"Wait Abasara!" the other girl says quickly. She appears younger than the one who noticed you - younger as well with dirty blonde hair falling to her waist. "I think they're friendly, at least...they look it? Khonnir? Where did dad go?!" she spins in a panic, looking for the older man who she spots quickly. He's quivering with fear behind a nearby tree.

I would like to ask a question before I make my next turn. Who is still standing and who isn't? I can see that one of the people is down, but Cedric has taken down a lot of men, and I cannot see which ones those are.

Cedric has been taking down men and climbing over their bodies. So I have been marking them as they go down. Cedric another acrobatics check if you have not done already.

The ones marked with the yellow lines have been hurt, the ones with the red X on them are dying or dead, and the ones with the yellow X are out cold.

one little thing, that know. religion should have told me it was at least a succubus ;) I would DEFINITELY know about that, especially if/when she transformed.

>.> <,< V.V ^.^... I am a 2 amongst 3s.... haha.

Does a knowledge religion or even planes check allow you to see through a disguise. Let alone that it is an ALTER SELF ability.

Perhaps I should have given you a disguise check to beat... DC = 19 +1d20

Just saying the only two forms you saw was an angel and a fallen angel, not a succubus. You can assume all you want.

Now if you did a Knowledge religion check on the symbols on the men's heads, that might reveal something...

you could just roll it for me next time, its possible! (albeit, highest I could get would be a 27...)

but I guess not, though I probably would have thought it was w/e it was altered too. So, alls well and good in the end I reckon.

I know I could have rolled it for you, I just had not thought of it.

Though with Alter Self, it seems like you would see that there is a spell on her, then again perhaps the way she was acting gave her away more than her appearance.

You can always do a k: religion or planes check to remember about a specific creature such as a succubus to know if they have ways to alter their appearance. Of which nearly any well educated pathfinder or adventurer would likely know.

Yep being low level I think detect magic would be your only indicator.
