Yes, we restarted, so no one knows each other except the PC and their companions. Even then you might not know them too well.

The dark clouds overhead let very little light through and even though it is midday it feels like it is early morning still. A light breeze comes through with the smell of smoke.

He responds to Hardish before the metal man gets close enough to speak, evenly his voice is confident, "My sight does not slow me down, I have grown from it. I will be able to hold my own and keep up, otherwise don't worry about me, I understand."

The Darkness speaks to Matthew, 'No these ones will be your doom, do not stay with them, search out the relic, The RELIC!!!' Hardish can see the confidence waver for a moment as the elf before you cringes in pain.

"I am fine, just a headache," he says as he waves off Hardish and rests his forehead on a nearby tree.

"I have no love for cultists, and wish them all to leave me alone for their own sakes." He says in a dreary voice in response to Daniel. He stands up straight waiting for more conversation or for them to start walking.

Lite:
He can feel a darkness within Matthew, one that he cannot understand. You don't feel he is possessed by a demon but something is wrong with this elf, he does not seem right.

Mia:
You feel that this elf, Matthew, has magical talent bursting just to be let out. You know your connection to Daniel and can feel a similar but different sensation like it coming off of him.

Daniel:
A dark spirit surrounds this elf. You can't figure out what it is, he does not detect as evil.

Hardish seems content with the agreement and translates briefly to his follower. Finally, without another word, Hardish gestures toward the road in front of them and continues walking in the direction of the hummer.

you imagine that Daniel gets a lot of this, Lite hovers over his left shoulder, and the bird is perched on his right. He hangs his head in a sigh and begins walking towards sandpoint, not really caring much for an answer just yet. However, he does keep an eye on the masked man.

"Matthew Smith is my name and yes a dark burden though it does not devour me and it works against the cultists with me so I accept it for now. I have a connection to strange beasts at times." He says trying to explain what he himself does not understand. With the sound of foot steps he follows.


Down the path the travelers walk. Mostly in silence as they listen for any sounds of threats.

You think the vehicle has stopped and it is no longer making noise. Off to the right of the path you can see a small pack of walkers heading this direction, they are about 40 to 50 feet away. It looks like maybe five.

Perception DC 28:
Farther up the path about 100 feet, up a hill you can see about a dozen walkers and crawlers around something near the road.

Hardish feels an unexplained hostility toward Daniel, a desire to get away from him. "I don't know what you're talking about as far as dark powers. I was able to escape the cultists before they..." He trails off, lost in a memory.

"Hardish." He says, to himself, more than anyone. "My name is Hardish Swift. If you wish to travel with me, I cannot rightfully stop you, but do not attempt to control my actions. I will not be chained. "

Daniel smiles, Just behave yourself, mostly. At least when I can see you. After all, the world is full of lawlessness as it is, and the name's Daniel.

As you walk you can hear the hushed babble of Lite and Mia Arguing over petty things. Perhaps becoming a slight distracting.

Matthew freezes at hearing that undead are near. He listens intently

He quietly speaks to himself, then says, "Come and protect me now."

A black cat like creature hops out from behind one of the trees and comes up to Matthew, who holds out his hand until the cat puts its head under the hand. He then brushes it once.

Perception DC 10:
Matthew seems to be making gibberish from the words he speaks under his breath. A portal of darkness appears just off the path where the black like cat came from.


I should have labeled the first perception check of 20 with 'You also get to act in surprise round.' But it is passed that now.

Round 1
He quietly gives a new instruction to his feline, "Hunt the dead."

With that done he summons another more strange creature, lifting his hand above his head he pulls his arm down and closes his fist while saying, "Send me more..."

With that a Vilstrak comes out of the ground and stands besides him. This creature is a bipedal man-sized semi-humanoid seemingly carved of stone. It has an insect-like head, large, long arms, and thick, trunk-like legs that end in hoof-like feet.

Matthew gives it a simple command, "Guard me."

The feline creature meanwhile has moved into the treeline like a shadow.

Round 2

Daniel can see one of the walkers being pounced on by the cat. Only the bite tears flesh from the walking corpse.

Hardish sees the approaching undead and the reaction of the rest of the group, he decides to go along with them. He draws his shortbow and looses a durable Arrow on one of the walkers. shortbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 151d6 ⇒ 4

Meanwhile, Fatima squats down on the road and closes her eyes, as though in meditation.


Round 1

Hardish shoots an arrow hitting one of the zombies making some flesh and blood splatter from the walking corpse. Daniel advances towards them. Lite... Then the shadow advances towards its prey. The zombies slowly walk up to Daniel looking hungry as ever as the forest holds them back some.

Round 3 Hardish sees the mob of zombies swarming the paladin. He grits his teeth before finally dropping his bow and drawing his rapier as he moves up to engage. "You owe me for this, Paladin. " He says as he tries to draw some attention towards himself.

Daniel takes down one of the zombies but there are still many crowding around him. None of them seem to be able to get through his more guarded stance.

Shadow continues to attack the zombie and flanks it with Daniel. With its bite and claw it is able to take down the zombie.

Matthew puts his hand in front of him ordering the thing beside him forward, "Attack!"

The Vilstrak moves forward and charges the closest undead, its insectoid head clicking as it goes. Though its slam does nothing to the undead.

Shadow continues to attack, now an adjacent zombie so it flanks with Daniel. It misses and gets hit for its trouble.

The Vilstrak moves to flank it with Daniel, it misses horribly the first time then slams pretty well the next time but not enough damage to take it down.

The lite actually hits this time as the zombie's flesh sizzles and burns some. Though it is the same zombie that Daniel slices in half. Still other strange things appear to be fighting on Daniel's side.

Daniel strikes the zombie infront of him (flanking with the Eidilon)

Hardish stabs at the walker as he approaches and continues poking holes in the next round.

Daniel actually hits the zombie and tries to slice the legs out from under it but his blade merely sticks into the armor on its leg before he pulls it back. Hardish seems to hit it but his rapier seems rather ineffective. The zombies attack and Daniel is able to dodge and avoid their bites using his armor and weapon effectively against them. They don't even see the cat creature as something to eat, perhaps even one of their own. The light shoots and the ray barely misses Mia.

Shadow attacks the corpse again but fails to get through the tough hide and armor on the thing.

The Vilstrak continues to flank a walker with Daniel, it smashes the zombie pretty good but most the damage appears to have slushed off with a bit of flesh.

With the immediate threat gone. Daniel turns towards Mathew.

Matthew takes a moment to formulate his thoughts into words then answers Daniel, "As I have said before I know not the dark spirit that is connected to me, nor how it happened. The two creatures are apart of it, if I don't summon them when I get threatened sometimes I pass out and horrible things happen. So I summon the least of my nightmares. The cat I call Shadow and it has been my untamed companion for the last month since I was torn from earth to this horrible nightmare." He breathes heavily understanding that they might attack him soon. His hands twist and turn then he speaks under his breath a glimmer of magic goes over him and holds around him.

The Insectoid humanoid just stands there looking around for something then kicks the corpse once more. Shadow claws into the corpse some more ears alert to Daniel's movements. It cuts out the heart of the corpse and begins to eat it.

Shadow looks up at Daniel and licks its chomps then wanders off around in the underbrush.

Matthew responds to Daniel with not a very concerned attitude, "If you attack one of them perhaps I will be able to summon something else. I hate the twisted nightmarish creatures that come from the void. That is what I really only do as an attack, so you can expect it in the future." He pulls a towel out from his cloak and wraps the two ends in his hands.

The insectoid headed humanoid waits for a command which Matthew soon gives, "Come and guard me."

The Vilstrack is evil. Though the cat and Matthew do not.

A lone zombie seems to have separated from the rest of those up the road and is shambling this direction. The others are beginning to follow it.

Calm is upon the forest again as each of you take a few deep gasps to recuperate from the quick battle.

Without even a command Shadow moves to the path and moves towards the undead. Though Matthew speaks and commands the Viserack to attack as well pointing in the general direction as he lets go of the towel with that hand, "Go forth and destroy the undead."

With the command given the insectoid headed creature with the hoofs quickly double moves out of the forest and onto the path towards the undead. The cat takes more time in the forest and pops out behind the summoned creature.

Lucas pulls out his bow, and fires a blunt arrow in an attempt to kill the closest zombie.

The Viserack and Shadow charge towards the zombie... The Viserack missing with both swings as Shadow bites and claws into the desiccated human walking corpse.
