I understand we are tired, alone and yes, children, but for crying out loud.
Why would trained ninja children be afraid of 3 children that are more than likely are not trained (especially living in an abandoned house alone, presumably)? That's like a black belt being afraid of some random hobo.
Sorry for the outburst, but tell me I'm wrong for thinking like that. Seriously, if I'm out of the loop on how these ninja kids should be reacting to the world around them, let me know.
Deneb of the Word |
I genuinely thought that was you using Valdis being tired as an excuse to include some tension.
I was calling it out as a good form keeping to how our characters are feeling at the moment. I was absolutely not meaning to say it was bad.
As to how they ought to react I honestly don't know, yes we are trained but as we are talking ninjas I don't doubt something that has been hammered into our heads over and over is that there is always someone stronger in the world.
Getting caught and leaking secrets are very possible things to occur in a world where magics like charm person and dominate exist.
The information we got about these people was from a monkey. A smart one but the idea of fully trusting that information is going to be a stretch for most. For all we know 'Child' in Hanu's interpretation translates to anything obviously not an adult human. Adult halflings, Gnomes and other short races would fall under that description.
Personally I agree that in this set up we are not likely going to encounter something unreasonable like Vampire midgets. (though that does give me an idea for one of my own games)
In the game though I can't deny that with a higher dose of paranoia than I myself have (but would be entirely reasonable for a ninja trainee to possess) the idea of something dangerous in the house being a possibility.
Secondly you recall that Darkshade and you were acting the part of scared civilian children while actually talking right?
She didn't mention it in the most recent post but I err on the side of caution and assume that what she said could have very easily been that act continuing.
Valdis Nimua |
I had been, but I'd be lying if I said that after awhile of thinking about it I got a bit... carried away.
Also has not been thinking about that, however, seeing as she mentions not trusting anyone yet, I took that as her signing again. maybe we should come up with a combo of formatting to use when signing to help alleviate that confusion?
Like both bold and italics for example.
But yeah. These kids can't really be feeling that great right now, physically or emotionally. Especially being unsure if they can really fully trust each other. (Especially in mine and Darkshade's cases).
Deneb of the Word |
Many groups use Bold Italic for telepathy.
I use bold blue text for speech only some creatures can understand
EX: Familiar speech when it gains the ability to speak with a master or speech in a different language not all of the party knows.
this would be mostly due to the fact that I find spoilers ugly in the middle of dialogue posts
Perhaps we could use one of those to indicate the difference between spoken speech and the ninja sign language conversations?
Darkshade - Nedavin Torund |
I am playing Darkshade as;
1. A teenage girl.
2. Ninja are better when making the first attack, not frontline fighters.
3. Ninja are spies more than they warriors, hence why they have Average Attack instead of Good.
4. She is off balance because of the group's current situation.
5. She is a sorceress so she is a little more protective when it comes to fighting in straight up melee without using stealth first.
6. She is not a black belt, she is a green belt because learning to control arcane powers took time away from receiving her black belt.
7. The group are low level black belts and from experience, low level black belts can still be beaten by lower rank colored belts (including White belts) especially if they have a big ego. Again from experience, Masters are more along the lines of, "That's like a black belt being afraid of some random hobo." However anyone can beat anyone in a fight and Masters don't make the mistake of under estimating their opponent because years of training has taught them that anyone has the potential of kicking their butt.

I feel I should mention that he is still just pretending to sleep, he just really really wishes he actually could. If that wasn't clear.
Deneb of the Word |
From what can see of it the sentence flows like this.
Several of your older acquaintances worked for him for a short period of time while dumped into the city for their final test.
Secondly I picked Danny/Dan as its a common name in my world. I was a bit tired at the time of posting. As we are in an eastern setting here it might be wise to consider what common names are for this place.
Perhaps Deneb can make super secret communicators for us all in the future. I doubt the behind the back sign language trick is going to work all the time.
Deneb of the Word |
Yeah. Perhaps we can pass it off as family having western ties?
I'll be interested to see what Darkshade decides on for a name for Valdis. It just seems good practice to not use our names from the village, while farfetched Deneb is tired/paranoid enough to think our hunters might have figured out what we were called in the village.
Speak with dead is a thing in pathfinder after all.
Valdis Nimua |
So, who all wants to chance being robbed blind (yes I know, giving DM ideas) to rest here for... its what, like an hour to remove exhaustion?
Or go look for somewhere else?
Darkshade - Nedavin Torund |
Sorry all, I had an issue at work all day Friday and was working with Cisco Systems TAC to fix it. And today, my wife and I purchased a $6,000 bed because of our allergies. Because of those allergies, we have not been able to sleep well for the last 11 years and it was slowly killing us as a result. The bed is a Tempur-Pedic Premier Foundation with Twin XL OnPurple Mattresses.
Valdis Nimua |
And then I remember that Darkshade is toting around a katana and Deneb a crossbow. Still, hoping she buys that I don't have any other weapons. Provided the other two decide they agree to her terms and we stay here.
The Indescribable |
Well I said I would and I am. The interest in this seems to have died so I'm calling it. That said I want to thank you for taking the time to join this little experiment. Free form just doesn't seem to work, but you all helped tremendously in creating this particular ninja clan and I will no doubt revisit them in the future.
