I agree, getting rid of the crew now would be better. Would any of the bugbear army know how to sail? Thinking we could get a few of them to help us across the lake if so.
Nathanial Torken |
Alright, let's spill some pirate blood!
Soren Marsailles |
Nice! I vote we get them to "dinner" first, to have as much aid as we can muster. Also, it means they can't try and escape on the ship. We lure them in with food and drink, maybe get them good and drunk, and butcher them like pigs.
Sound like a plan?
Alice Duvotour |
From a tactical point of view, this is the best time to kill the captain an the crew. A battle on the lake could draw a lot of unwanted attention, and is a higher risk for us, in case something happens to the ship.
I'm all for getting them now with the help of the bugbears.
the Shining Host |
Vaundour I'll get to you in camp by latest Monday I want to see how events on the ship play out :-)
Soren Marsailles |
I'm hoping this is pretty obvious, but Soren (or someone, anyway) is going to coup de grace Odenkirk once he's asleep and helpless; the damage alone might not kill him, but I doubt he'll pass the Fortitude save to survive. Then, we dump his body overboard and go help the bugbears kill the crew... as much help as they need, anyway.
Soren Marsailles |
Oh, I'm sure we'll get one soon enough. We still have to infiltrate and destabilize the Watch Wall, so that Sakkarot can bring war to Talingarde and all. I'm certain there's someone big and nasty in there we'll get to slug it out with.
the Shining Host |
Certainly there is but the Captain's last stand is a quick nap not an epic battle, poor Captain Odenkirk!
Soren Marsailles |
If we were the good guys, I'd feel bad about putting a bullet in his head while he was sleeping... but we're not. It's times like this I remember it's so easy being evil.
Also, it just occurred to me that in every game where you're GMing, I'm either outright evil, or at least the most morally ambiguous. Someday, I will play a good-aligned character in a game you're running.

LOL. But you do morally ambiguous so well! :-)
Yep I would not feel bad, he is the type that would have slit all of your throats while sleeping on the ship if he was not afraid of the Cardinal.
Soren Marsailles |
I know I do, and importantly no one else in my home group really tends to do it at all; I'm usually the designated rogue (Or Slayer, Investigator, etc.) when we play anything around the table. I enjoy it, so it's fine, but every once and a while I like to break out of my niche and play something really different. I have a few of those here on the boards, too.
Amusingly enough, one of them is where you're a player and not the GM. Go figure!

Sorry for the lack of posting. A migraine took me out yesterday, then I was taken to the movies today for my birthday, and all of that was finished up with house drama.

Ah Loup's new game. That is my first go around with nWoD after all of these years :-)

No worries, it's the Holidays followed by the weekend so I don't expect posting really. Gives me a chance to catch up on Threads. Hopefully you are feeling better.
It is really challenging to Recruit 3 games at once, I'll never do that again. :-(
Morana Soto |
I only spotted one of your games. What else are you recruiting for?
the Shining Host |
To the Victors the Spoils
Everyone advance to 5th level. Hint, someone should try to get some sort of skills in sailing/navigation...
Odenkirk's Goodies: Greataxe +2, Masterwork Hide Armor, Masterwork Throwing Axes (2), 1 Potion Cure Serious Wounds.
Lockbox: 6,500 GP.
the Shining Host |

Werewolf the Apocalypse - closed now I started Gameplay tonight.
Dragonlance (Pathfinder Rules) - Closed that Recruitment today.
Greyhawk All Lycanthropes Game (Pathfinder Rules) - That Recruitment closes tomorrow.
Early next year I will be Recruiting for a Strange Aeons game with all Godling characters.
Soren Marsailles |
Is that a typo, or are we actually advancing to 5th level? Either way I'm happy, but I'm just curious. I have no desire or need to claim that greataxe, or the armor or throwing axes. I would like Cure Serious Wounds, but I have a feeling Grumble will need it more than I will.
If we're splitting the treasure equally, we each get 928 GP, with four left over.

On no, no typo, you all leveled! To 5th you go. Remember, you can EITHER take a FEAT OR Gestalt at this level.
That will be the last advance until we finish the first book which the group is now a little more than halfway through.
Soren Marsailles |
Out of curiosity, can we take levels in our "gestalt" class normally, or can we only access that class by sacrificing feats? I'm interested in potentially reaching 5th level in Gunslinger to gain Dexterity to damage on my pistol, unless there's some other way I can do that which I'm not aware of. I may eventually spend the feats to do it, but if I can take levels in the class that may happen instead.
Rolling for HP as well Hit Points: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (5, 7) + 2 = 14 to bring my HP total to exactly 40.
Soren will bite the bullet and take some ranks in Profession (Sailor), mostly because I like the idea of keeping the ship and using it myself instead of burning it to cinders.
the Shining Host |
HMMM. Interesting question Soren.
I would say that choosing not to Gestalt and yet leveling in that Gestalt class would create a bit of chaos when tracking increases but I will not prevent a player from doing so.
Soren Marsailles |
Cool stuff, I'll probably do that in a few levels once I've finished collecting the myriad of feats I need for a ranged build.
the Shining Host |
This next part of the adventure is tough, I think you might need access to 3rd level powers to pull it of which is why we double leveled. Plus there is no real break in the next chapter so leveling would be awkward mid action.
Soren Marsailles |
Gotcha. It's definitely appreciated, as Soren just became a LOT more combat capable with Rapid Shot and Bane coming online, and some nice new spells for infiltrating and such aren't too shabby either. Speaking of which, Soren should be all leveled up and ready to go.
Grumble Jack |
HP: 2d10 ⇒ (5, 7) = 12
Picked up Cleaving Finish this level, as well as Channel Energy (variant channeling: fire) Fiendish Boon and 1st level spells.
I know I want to take the Summon Monster version of Fiendish Boon, but this level my options are pretty limited. I have to pick a Fiendish Animal, or a creature with the Chaotic and Evil subtypes.
So that presents two issues.
First, we've changed the Antipaladin so that I can be Lawful Evil (because Asmodeus). So, does that mean my Subtype restriction should be changed also?
Second, none of the options on the Summon Monster 3 left seem particularly appropriate. Any suggestions? GM, do you have any alternates I can pick from?
Grumble Jack |
A Cacodaemon would work well. Grumble is daemon blooded and has some plot stuff related to daemons that might come up later.
Cacodaemons are less combat capable than most of the monsters on the normal list, but would make a really impressive scout. Their Soul Gem ability would be beneficial to anyone who went into magic item crafting (or would just be some evil loot that's hard to sell).
GM? What do you think?

Cacodaemons are fine by me OR I can look into a specific LE option.
Grumble Jack |
I'll take the Cacodaemon. The more I think about it, the more I like it. Thanks!
Edit: This has a lot of synergy. Grumble is immune to the negative effects of it's Disease, but will still be a carrier, which means unlimited-distance telepathy between the big guy and his new pet.
Eventually, Grumble will actually count as an Evil Outsider, which means he'll be able to eat Soul Gems for fast healing (as well as arbitrarily condemning the soul to the Lower Planes, which is just mean).
Also, the Cacodaemon's 1/week Commune ability could be a fun role-play opportunity and great tool for the GM to prod us in the right direction.
Alaric the Barbarian |
As I was looking for replacements Grumble I saw the soul gem ability and I was like he is definitely going to like this one. GM one thing you could think about is allowing grumble to activate the power that is listed for ingesting the soul gems. I know it specifically calls out outsiders but it is his fiendish boon and all. Just a consideration?
Edit
Nvm Ninj'd Grukble will be an evil outsider

Sorry I dropped of the earth for a few days. I had to arrange a lot of things which led into gaming this whole weekend, and I was all out of energy.
hp: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 2) + 4 = 12
I've not picked a bonus feat yet. I have scribble scroll, but would we be interested in Craft Wands? We have the tusk, but if we are going to use very little wands its not worth giving up a feat for.
Soren Marsailles |
I thought we were going to use the tusk as a staff, not a wand. That said, having a few wands is probably a good idea; Soren can use CLW wands just like Lothryin, and it gives us some more situational spells to use.
Vaundour"The Gentleman"Gathlain |
I'll get my leveled stuff done after work, not sure yet if I'll gestalt or take a feat yet. Leaning more towards gestalt right now but that might change. Just to clarify, we are going from lvl 3 to 5, right? Or did I miss a level up somewhere?
As for the loot, I don't really have a use for any of the equipment, but gold is always nice.

Correct 3-5. This part of the adventure will be extremely difficult if you fail in the early phases.
Morana Soto |
So I either have a bonus feat or a gestalt level, right?
I also took the craft magical arms and armor since it is a buy in for craft construct. So when there is time that is an option.
Alice I am fine with wands. They are useful as are staffs.
As for the loot I am only interested in the gold.
the Shining Host |
Wait, bonus feat? I thought the gestalt was in place of our regular feat?
This :-)
