Two more players to post then you will all be assembled. I will ave the thread up on Sunday night instead of Saturday night, forgot I had a 40th birthday party to attend and it will be a late night.

I will be away from Thursday to the Monday afterwards for vacation. just an FYI. I will bring my Tablet and Chromebook and hopefully will be able to post while I am there. If not, that next Tuesday night we will gear up again. The good news is that I will be able to read a bit more of the adventure during that time!

Out of curiosity, what's the tech level for the campaign in regards to firearms? Depending on what it is, I might change Soren around a little bit to fit the setting. Right now she has a musket, but if you'd be running the game as Commonplace Guns/Guns Everywhere (Rules for that found here), then I'd rather grab a rifle or something.

I had not really thought about it until just now as I have little experience with the Gunslinger class.

Let's start with the Emerging Guns tech level. Perhaps as game develops, Firearms can evolve and may well make or break the future of the Campaign. It may be interesting for the Heroes and the Villains to get into a bit of an arms race depending on how effective they are and how they are used.

For now, you will be one of the few Gunslingers in the Kingdom. I will make sure that once your characters have arrived at your initial "destination" there will be a Gun available for you there. Obviously, the scenario as it starts out has the entire group lacking any equipment except that which you acquire here.

First level can and should remain Gestalt. It's the next series of levels where characters will revert back.

Tell me, are any of you interested in a 6th Player? There was one submission I really liked that would fit well. Let me know all of your thoughts on that. I know this is an AP suggested for 4 and 7 is nearly twice as many.

Maybe, depends on how well the character/player will mesh with the rest of us, and if you'll be able to properly upgrade encounters to take into account a 7th player.

If you're cool with a 7th player, I'm fine with it. Just as long as we don't end up with people stepping on each other's toes.

Not to be a spoilsport, but since you said you didn't really want to make huge sweeping changes to the encounters, I don't think an extra person is a good idea.

We're already going to barrel through the AP, I don't think there's any reason to make it even worse.

Thank you all for your thoughts.

This was the same notion I had as well Pyotr but the concept was solid and easily worked in. I will pass on that 7th Player based on the reservations you state as I had the same ones.

To balance the AP, from level 2 on, each Player will be rolling for HP and retaining whatever they roll, even if it is a 1. That will lead to less steamrolling, I think, as you will have to take less risks with less HP. If that does not work, I will find some other simple way to tweak things to make the AP more challenging.


Shadow's Status

Flyn, the character creation process which I will leave similar to what was done by Infernal GM with a few tweaks.

Level- Gestalt 1. Level 2-10 - Single Class. You may Multiclass freely unless there is a specific restriction in RAW against it (i.e. no Barbarian Monks).

Ability Scores: 24 point buy system, from a base of 10, with increases and decreases to scores occurring on a one-for-one basis. Remember that no ability score may be higher than 18+-modifiers or lower than 08+-modifiers.

HP- First level Maximum. Level 2-20 - Roll HD + Con bonus. You must retain whatever you roll, even if it is a 1.

Classes- Anything goes.

Alignment- LE or NE really required. CE will not work well and Good, well, look for a different AP.

Race- Anything goes.

Skill Points- 2 bonus Skill Points per level. (Per the AP).

Traits: 2, plus a Crime Trait, plus an additional Trait if you choose a Drawback.

Starting Equipment: Even though you will begin with no equipment, save for a ragged prisoner's garb, you will have 500 GP worth of belongings that have been confiscated by the prison in lockup. Once we get there, you can sort all of that out. If Damien and Xoruk do not make it that far, you can take their stuff as well. The new arrivals have their goods on the transports still...

Familiars: Does anyone besides Nathaniel have one?

I am leaving out the Patron idea, I want you all to masters of your own destinies. The mystery figure who did free you will grant each of you 1 magical item to start out with once you arrive.

Rolls and Combat.

When combat ensues I will roll initiative for all PC's and NPC's, then set the order.

DM INfernal had an interesting idea about block initiatives but I will not incorporate it as where you are on the battlefield does not necessarily mean your action will focus on that area.

To track rounds, let's do the following for each combat round ex.

Nathaniel - Round 1 - 10/10 HP - Condition - If Applicable

Each round should have a follow up.

Nathaniel - Round 2 - 8/10 HP - Condition - N/A

And so on.

Nathaniel - Round 3 - 5/10 HP - Condition - Str -4 Ray of Enfeeblement & Con +4 Bear's Endurance.

This will allow me and the rest of you an easy way to track rounds, hit points and various modifiers that effect the characters as combat takes place.

Let me know if there are any objections or suggestions that may be better than what I have come up with.

Base saving throws seem to be missing.

Skill points seem a bit low but it may be the class you chose: 2 granted by AP + 1 per level as human +1 int bonus should be 4 + whatever the class receives (choose better of the 2 due to level 1 Gestalt).

Nothing else jumping out at me.
