Holding off post until I see whether Wix has dropped Skeleton 2 - pretty impressive damage roll!

GM Iliad |

Despite some rough rolls, you guys are doing okay with three out of six skeletons eliminated (The other group only took out one and the fighter received a confirmed crit).
As Wix continues trying to skewer the party, I'll repeat something I posted earlier:
'Those of you proficient with bows are expert enough to know that the rain and wind is going to hamper your aim.'
Hint, hint..

Petracleus |

The skeletons appears to take a bit of a shine for the big guy with the sword (and the nice high AC), inevitable that a claw would hit soon enough.....glad to avoid the critical though.......
Now if only Petracleus could hit anything with the pointy thing that he seems to have forgotten how to use!!!

Petracleus |

Yeah, rocking those 20's now we are out of combat!!!

Petracleus |

Have a good break - you are doing just fine keeping things trundling along......I am sure we would all permit you some time off!

If any of you are into pirate-themed RPGing, you might check out the Razor Coast kickstarter.
If you don't know Frog God Games, they are the successor company of Necromancer Games. Necromancer made pretty much my favorite third edition adventures. They're best known for Rappan Athuk, but they put out quite a few EXCELLENT products.
Frog God published the Slumbering Tsar adventure path and the Northlands saga, among other stuff. And Frog God is coming out with a campaign setting that will include both their stuff and Necromancer's.
I've got almost a dozen Frog God products and they produce top notch stuff. I'm in at the $50 level of Razor Coast, which is a pdf of the player's guide and the campaign book.
Obviously, no pressure, but if you do like piratey play, I'm pretty certain you will be very happy with Razor Coast.

Also, at a suggestion from the other group, I am checking out roll20.net for mapping. Updating the excel sheet was kind of a big pain.
I'd guess it's not something that we'd use for a bit, but I am exploring the option. If it looks feasible, I'll ask you to check it out.
A - it's free
B - Internet Explorer requires the Chrome plug-in
C - It doesn't work on ipads.

GM Iliad |

The other group had some problems with accessing roll20 for their main posting. I may try to learn it down the road, but we won't be using it in the short run.
Who knows: maybe Paizo tabletop will be useful.
BTW, you guys are doing great so far. Posts have been on the mark and timeliness hasn't been an issue. From my side of the table, I'm pleased with how it's going.

First level party: troll.
I suppose I could put up an ad for a new party...
For me, when I RPG, I have to remember I'm not playing Age of Conan, where I wade into battle, studly equipped and feated up. And death is a minor inconvenience. I'd wager a majority of MMO/video gamers would struggle mightily playing actual RPGs.
DUNGEON!
I had the original version of this.
To those who are relatively young, you can't imagine how cool this game was before there were computer games or WoTc Castle Ravenloft board games, etc.
My friend had The Dark Tower and I had this. We spent many afternoons in fantasy worlds.

I think if you read this, step by step, two or three times, it makes sense. Of course, I know what I'm trying to say..
CHASE RULES
You each get one Turn in a Round. You get one Action a Turn. You will be moving from one Location to the next.
Each Location will have two skill checks. You may try both skill checks or only one. Attempting one or both skill check counts as your Action.
If you attempt one skill check: pass and you move forward one Location. Fail and you stay there. There is no loss of turn for a single skill check. I mention the latter because:
If you attempt two skill checks and pass both, you move forward two locations. If you pass one, you move one location. If you fail both, you stay there and are "stuck." You lose your Turn next Round.
You may sacrifice your Action to 'mark the trail' for that Location, permanently reducing the skill checks for everybody by -2. You stay in that location.
You may use a spell or attack for your Action. You stay in that location.
You can see other people at your Location (which will be named; i.e., Giant Boulder, Cliff Edge, etc). You cannot see (but possibly can hear) people at other Locations.
Since you'll almost certainly end up in different Locations, we'll have to go in initiative order. There will be exceptions, but I'll clearly denote that. So, please wait for the person before you to post.
After all five of you have taken your Actions, I'll make a final post ending the Round. Then I'll make a post starting the next Round - first person in initiatiave will go. Then the rest in order.
I'm going to follow this post with another on how to post your skill check (ie, ic description of what happened).
Questions, comments? "Forget this, I'm out of here" responses....

GM Iliad |

Each Round, I'll present the description and the two skill options, with DC. You decide which check (or spell or attack as appropriate) and make your roll. After the roll, write up an ic description of what happened. I'll then wrap up that turn with the results.
Here's a sample:
GM
As you come across a clearing, the path is suddenly rent by a deep, stony crack in the earth.
DC 15 Acrobatics check to make a giant leap across; or
DC 10 Survival Check to find a way around the crack.
PLAYER
Survival Roll - 7
"Linflass' headlong run came to a skidding halt as he stopped short at the lip of a deep crack in the earth. He furiously looked about, trying to find a way around the crack."
GM
Your hurried search fails to find an alternate route. You hear the footsteps of several goblins as they gain on you.
Then I'll post for the monster/NPC.
For your next turn, I'll lay it out again and you can decide whether to jump or search more (or spell or fight)
That make sense? I'm going to try and let everybody make their post for round one before anybody goes in round two and so on each round.
I've heard and read that chases can be hard to run and dull. I'll try to keep it from flying apart. With the descriptions (instead of just a skill check), I think we can make it fun.

Thanks for letting us know....hope you can get your RL issues all sorted.....
I'll check in on Monday and see how it is going.....

GM Iliad |

Sorry, folks. Heading into Easter, I thought I could get this jump started again.
However, I recently got the green light to pitch a screenplay for a tv pilot. I am completely redoing the original script (it was rejected several years ago). I realize now that I am going to have to cut out everything but family and work (which includes RPGs and Age of Conan..).
I apologize for not carrying this game through at least to the end of the first adventure. I haven't worked on a screenplay in several years and this was unexpected. But I can't pass up the opportunity to make this happen.
I enjoyed running this game and I might try to pick up the pieces down the line, but I can't see beyond this screemplay project right now.
Thanks for signing on and helping me figure out how to GM.
