DM, did Kythel recover any Hero Points from our last level up? Just 1 each level correct?
DM, can I also assume that Kythel is storing the body of Kravichak in the Cathedral of Wee Jas awaiting his questioning?

Well, we just celebrated Thanksgiving, no kids, no relatives other than myself, my wife, and my dogs. Had a chance to Zoom with the family, but having 5 households trying to speak at once is not optimal conversation :/ I now know how to make Italian Margaritas...
I am thankful for you lot, and the wonderful gaming we've enjoyed together over the years (yeah, years ;) ) Stay safe, stay healthy. I've already got another player in another game who fell ill to COVID, but she's weathered it properly. It seems to be creeping closer and closer to my inner circles...

Storyteller Shadow |

I have had four family members get it, no one was sick for longer than three days.
I don't think it's particularly deadly (especially now that the methods to treat it have gotten better) unless you are 75+.
The problem is how transmissible it is!

Marigold Montajay |

I hope everyone who celebrates it had a Happy Thanksgiving (or as happy as could be, given circumstances) and that those who don't had a Happy Thursday!

GM Rutseg |

One of the players on my local table got it on March, he passed it as a very bad influenza.
My parents took refuge at our little town in central Spain. Counting them only three houses open during autumn. Now, their neighbors took it and the mother (87) has been three weeks with oxygen now because she cannot properly breath. At the third house, household problems (male violence I believe) led to divorce and this week the man decided to hang himself. Five kids left orphan.
I do believe the closing is driving people mad, more than usual I mean.
Let's hope for a better 2021.

This basically matches my own observations as a healthcare worker. While nearly all of patients that I've seen hospitalized have been roughly 45+ in age and most of those at least 60+ in age, nearly all of them have kicked the virus. It's just so up in the air though, because some of the elderly seem to recover quickly and others can take weeks to get well enough to go home.
Several of my coworkers have had it by this point and all but one experienced either no symptoms at all or very mild symptoms and only really felt 'sick' maybe a couple of days out of their entire quarantine. But then you do hear reports of younger, ostensibly healthy folks getting it and not pulling through, so...there's still definitely some risk, even if you're young. Small, but there just the same.
I do believe the closing is driving people mad, more than usual I mean.
Yes, this is a large part of why I take issue with the expectation that society is supposed to just more or less shut down entirely until we have a reliable vaccine. Extended isolation and disruption of everyday life is taking a huge toll on the mental health of a lot of people and getting/affording therapy to deal with that isn't necessarily an easy thing to do (though it's getting better than it used to be). A lot of us are also heading into winter which can do a number on people and their mental health even in the best of times. At what point does it start becoming a real problem instead of an unfortunate but acceptable side-effect of trying to keep the virus in check? It's a question with no good answer :(

I really feel for you folks in the rest of the world. We did hard lockdown right at the start, but it wasn't too bad. Weather was still okay - and I live next to a park, so I got a walk in with kids most days.
Biggest issue was queueing up for food on a regular basis. My local food shop was open, but only three or four people inside at a time, so there was always quite a queue to get in.
I was kind of lucky in that between doing the family shopping, taking kids walking, blood doning (I'm a regular), and my volunteering with the local ambulance service, I actually managed to get out of the house most days to stave off cabin fever. And being a teacher, I had a reliable job that actually paid, and kept me busy.
Now we are pretty much back to normal, just scanning when we go into places.
I did like the empty streets and all the birdlife that came back during out lockdown though.

Hi Gang, apologies on the low profile - been highly busy with work and prepping for my yearly sojourn to Dubai for the festives (travel now involves far more working parts and monitoring of travel zones etc here in Bonnie Scotland).
Throw into the mix me turning 49+1 yesterday I've just not had time to try and recover my mojo.
Just wanted to let you all know that I'm still here and doing fine. I'm hopeful that the New Year will bring new sense of purpose and kick start my creativeness again and Maxim will be back with a blackpowder bang!
Congrats on the new moglin Marigold - she is mighty cute (in tooth and claw lol). Glad everyone is bearing up, wish I was more of a teammate right now for you all.
Appreciate the patience and understanding one and all. Will check in afore the festives to wish ye all well :)

Fifty, you say? Well that explains a lot, then. Let us know when you've finished moving into that retirement home. Figure if you're traveling on those senior citizen discounts, you can buy several pairs of reading glasses so you can catch up on game thread when your metamucil runs its course.
A word of caution- when you start taking the blue pill, remember to turn your Zoom meetings video feed off, and tell your doctor about any sudden loss of vision, when the blood stops flowing to your eyeballs...

Merry (Early) Christmas & Happy Holidays!
I had a positive test come back on Wednesday so I'm at home on quarantine for the next several days. Currently asymptomatic and feeling fine; hopefully it'll stay that way. But in the event I *do* start feeling puny and disappear for more than a couple of days, that'll likely be why.
Not wanting to worry anyone but I feel I'd be remiss if I didn't give you guys a heads-up just in case.

Were we able to Lay on Hands or Lesser Restoration your noggin, and see the little git of a virus gone... here's hoping you're gonna sail through, and avoid cytokine storms and all. Suppose we're all going to have our brushes with COVID in the coming months. Keep us posted, as we're intensely interested in your continued good health.

Will do all - Happy Festives to everyone, hoping the holidays brings a little light into the dark days of these times.
@Marigold: Hope you continue to feel the better o'er the worse. Echoin' my Bror - keep us posted Lil' Miss.
Once again to all, I salute your patience and understanding - not been the best collaborator of late to my own chagrin... Aim to amend that come the New Year and be back with both barrels!
Much Love
BD/Maxim

Agreed, get some rest if you need it. Most people stay asymptomatic and even if they develop symptoms recover well enough but as with any illness, let your body rest and repair itself!

Marigold Montajay |

Thanks guys! As long as I feel okay I'm going to make lemonade out of lemons and make the most of being stuck in the house - but don't worry, part of that 'making the most' is getting plenty of rest :)

GM Rutseg |

JJ gets a +2 to the check for having Wild Empathy, but the DC is a 30 so he might need some help (if you are not trained in Handle Animal, you can try to search for help using Diplomacy/Intimidate, but you get a -10 if you try to do it in a single round).
Without using magic, the only other way pointed out in the adventure to stop the herd from causing more harm is to fight it (it is a mob, some kind of special swarm). But I do understand why you might be not ok with erasing a pack of animals.

_JJ Surabar |

Think I'm going to need some better rolls here. Does it get easier as I peel off some of the horses?
(fingers crossed)

Yes, 1 HrP after level up.
Yes, if you wish we can RP his questioning within spoilers.

Hi there! So... is JJ ok about using a Hero Point to leverage the difference?
I do not think you have many other ways to win this encounter unless you find out a good magic trick to make it happen.
Otherwise, I could just give the stampede as lost and move on with a new event.

Celebrations were definitely a little different this year but the good for DH & I far outweighed the inconvenient (because there was nothing outright 'bad' about any of the details) and we considered ourselves very fortunate to be able to have the Christmas that we did this year.
That said, I know not everyone was as fortunate so here's hoping for brighter days ahead and a gradual return to normalcy for 2021 <3

Happy Festives to one and all. Hope it was brighter spell of days in these dark times, and offered some degree of celebration to you all.
I've returned to the UK from my annual holiday to Dubai, and back to the chaos of mutant covid strains and impending Brexsh*t...
Have been following the adventures sans Maxim with interest, pride and awe (you guys do rock). Will likely be post New Year until I'm back.
Meantime have a great Hogmanay when it comes. I'll raise a wee dram to your collective good health and camaraderie as is right an' proper.
Here's to a 2021 that is a mark'ed level up on what came before...

So, let's focus on the positive. This has been a great year of gaming!
A year ago we were fighting the demons of the Demonskar, a good interlude at half of Chapter 7: Secrets of the Soul Pillars. In one year you have well changed the power structure of Cauldron, defeated the remains of the Demonskar demons, cleaned the halls of Karran-Kural, dealt with your first Cagewright Fetor Abradius (which has become only first of a growing list), earthed the evil dracolich Vittris Bale, controlled the power of the Soul Pillars, put an end to the Last Laugh, attended Thifirane's party uninvited and spiced up the feast, unveiled Cauldron's puppet master Orbius Vhalantru and defeated the beholder, you took reins of your city deciding about its leadership and are now working on minimizing the damage on an earth-breaking catastrophe...
Chapter 7 and 8 were completed and we are well inside chapter 9.
All this done with good camaraderie and great humor despite the worrying moments many of use went through this year 2020.
Thanks all for this achievement.
Happy New Year!
