GM Baerlie |
Theadric puts on a good show of aerial acrobatics, unfortunately the kobold chief interprets this action as an provokation and attacks. The kobolds in the seats on the balconies just watch and cheer for their chieftain.
Ini Dylara: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Ini Melon: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Theadric is sure that the dragon is an illusion.
Vailis |
"F$@&!" Vailis shouts in frustration as he moves forward to the maximum of his capacity while saying summoning words.
Just behind Vanya he completes his call summoning an augmented small fire elemental and pointing the dragon "Finish him!"
4 minutes duration, standard action because of summoner
Augmented: +4 Str and +4 Con in top of the normal creature
The fire creature darts towards the dragon unsuspecting it is an illusion and attempts to burn it with its slam.
Slam attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Bludgeoning damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
If hit, Ref DC 11 to avoid 1d4 of burn damage
GM Baerlie |
Vailis summons a small fire elemental and the elemental attacks the dragon. You see the elemental's arms swing through the dragon. Kibizax gets up from his throne and casts a spell. You see a lighting bolt coming out of his hands, hitting Vailis and Sam.
Damage CL6: 6d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 1, 5, 1) = 16 Reflex DC17 for half damage
Sam moves forward.

Vailis moves his hands trying to avoid the lighting bolt.
Ref DC 17: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
But the shock overcomes him ending with plenty of hair burned.
He says some arcane words casting haste on his closest companions.
Can only affect creatures that are 30' from each other with a limit of 4. Under current map situation, I chose: Sam, Maximilian, Vanya and myself
Sam, Maximilian, Vanya and Vailis start to move faster!
+1 to hit, +1 dodge to AC and Reflex saves, +30 feet of movement, +1 attack when full-attacking
4 rounds
Thanks to his increased speed Vailis moves very close to the scenario, setting himself next to the piano.
What do we need to climb to the scenario?
The fire elemental keeps fighting with the dragon.
Observing the elemental attacks go through the dragon, Vailis tells him in loud voice:
Melon the Roc |
Melon flies overhead, charging straight at the kobold leader with Theadric on her back. "Prowaaaa!!"
Bite, Charge: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 2 = 10 Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Bonuses from Bull's Strength have been calculated in. Hopefully Theadric does better on his charge attack roll :P
Maximillian Arcos |
Spurned on by Vailis' Haste spell, Maximillian closes the distance to the kobold spellcaster.
I'm assuming that the raised stage and orchestra seating will prevent charging. If it doesn't he will charge instead of just double moving.
Charge - Power attack + Haste: 1d20 + 9 + 2 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 9 + 2 - 2 + 1 = 25
Damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (3, 5) + 10 = 18
AC lowered to 19 until next turn
Theadric Greyhood |
"Yeeee-HAW!" Hood yells as Melon descends on the enemy. The halfling lashes out with his lance.
lance attack, charge, spirited charge: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 2 = 163d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2, 2) + 6 = 12
I'm not sure how this would work, but I have Ride-by-Attack if Melon wants to delay his turn until mine...we could then continue a swoop and charge routine.
Dylara Yssal |
That won't work, because Melon doesn't know the 'Serve' trick.
Exclusive: The animal takes directions only from the handler who taught it this trick. If an animal has both the exclusive and serve tricks, it takes directions only from the handler that taught it the exclusive trick and those creatures indicated by the trainer's serve command. An animal with the exclusive trick does not take trick commands from others even if it is friendly or helpful toward them (such as through the result of a charm animal spell), though this does not prevent it from being controlled by other enchantment spells (such as dominate animal), and the animal still otherwise acts as a friendly or helpful creature when applicable.
GM Baerlie |
No climb check necessary, but charge is not possible.
Vailis, struck by the lightning bolt, casts a spell and several party members feel the time pass slowlier. Dylara orders her bird to attack and so it does, but the bite misses the target. Maximilian moves closer to the stage, preparing to attack. Following Melon's movement Theadric pierces his lance at Kibizax, but misses. Vanya moves closer, pretty fast.
The kobold takes a step back and starts to cast a spell. Suddenly Melon feels heat.
Cast devensively: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20 DC19
RTA: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Critical?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage: 8d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 6, 6, 2, 6, 3, 2) = 30
Kibizax casts Scorching Ray.

Vailis |
Vailis casts a corrosive touch spell, and holding the charge in his hand moves fast as a tiger until he is next to the kobold chieftain, attempting to touch him to deliver the spell.
Corrosive touch+haste (touch): 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 2 + 1 = 23
Crit?: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 2 + 1 = 22
Acid damage: 4d4 + 4d4 ⇒ (1, 3, 1, 2) + (2, 1, 2, 3) = 15
Draw the longspear as well while he moves.
The augmented fire elemental maneuvers looking for a flanking position and attacks with a flame hand trying to subdue the kobold.
Slam attack+flanking: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 2 = 22
Bludgeoning damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
If hit, Ref DC 11 to avoid 1d4 of burn damage
Longspear AoO+haste: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 2 + 1 = 20
Piercing damage: 1d8 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Melon the Roc |
However, by that logic, I don't think Mounted Combat will work either. 'Cause Melon doesn't listen to Theadric at all... :S
Melon's critically hit by a fire spell and passes out. The avian drops to the floor, but luckily doesn't hit it hard due to flying just five feet above it.
Maximillian Arcos |
Maximillian takes a 5 ft. step and attacks twice with his greatsword.
Greatsword 1 + Haste - Power Attack: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 1 - 2 = 15
Damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (2, 5) + 10 = 17
Greatsword 2 + Haste - Power Attack: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 9 + 1 - 2 = 16
Damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 6) + 10 = 17
Theadric Greyhood |
"Noooo!!!" Hood cries as Melon falls unconscious beneath him.
Still, the damage to the bird did not look life-ending.
"I think he'll be okay!" the halfling response to Dylara.
"But you're gonna pay for that!" he says to the chieftain as he rushes forward with his lance.
lance attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 121d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
GM Baerlie |
While Dylara rushes forward Maximilian attacks the sorcerer, but the kobold's skin is really strong. Sam returns a scorching ray at Kibizax. He hits and burns the kobold's skin. Theadric shouts as Melon falls but tries to hit the chieftain with his lance. The lance does not hit. Vailis hits the Kobold with a spray of acid critically, the reptile's face melts. The fire elemental's attack finally fells Kibizax.
After a few seconds the dragon disappears. The audience watches the scene, some of them applaude when their chieftain falls. The chieftain’s fallen body suddenly takes on a bluish glow and the sound of electricity arcing grows swiftly from a faint buzz to a loud crackle. Bolts of lightning shoot down from the ceiling, striking Kibizax’s corpse over and over, filling the room with the booming sound of thunder and a palpable aura of static electricity. The fallen reptile’s body is wracked again and again with electrical fire until a glowing dragon made entirely of blue electricity rises from the corpse and takes wing. The dragon circles the room once with a roar then turns into an arc of pure energy, shooting through the ceiling with a final thunderous boom.
After her illusory show concludes, Yiddlepode reveals herself and asks you to surrender, immediately taking on the mantle of the tribe’s leader and spokesperson.
She’s trying to pass a hint to you in her wording that their surrender is only for show.
Vailis |
Sense motives: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19
Vailis drops the longspear to the ground and kneels "I vow in front of the powerful Yiddlepode! Oh furious leader! Spare us for our boldness. We just want to reach a fear treatment"
Dylara Yssal |
Dylara runs over to Melon and sheaths her sword, ignoring the lightning that strikes the old chieftain of the kobolds. She takes her healing wand and quickly taps Melon with it.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
It's only after Dylara's ensured Melon will be fine that she notices Yiddlepode. Dylara has no clue of what's going on, but figures she'll go go along with whatever it is and bows for Yiddlepode.
I figure Vailis knows what he's doing. He's a smart person.
"Melon, lie."
Handle Animal: 1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 4 = 24
Melon the Roc |
Melon's just back up when Dylara commands her to lie. The roc looks a bit confused at her master, but does as told and lies down.
Theadric Greyhood |
Hood, like Dylara, doesn't care what Yiddlepode is doing until he is sure that Melon is okay. The halfling puts his arms around the roc's neck as it stirs.
"Why should we...oh..." Hood mumbles as he sees Vailis kneeling.
I didn't remember this being part of the plan...
sense motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Sam Drakenfel |
SM: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (17) - 2 = 15
Sam enjoys the illusion show, it almost makes him forget how disappointed and annoyed he is that there were no real dragons. The whole thing ended up a waste and he would not mind a little more bloodshed. But seeing Yiddlepode grand appearance and Valik's reaction he realises its better to play along. She was their "women" inside afterall, no use wasting all the group's hard work so far. Besides his real weapons could never be taken away anyway.
Maximillian Arcos |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Maximillian merely nods respectfully to Yiddlepode and puts his sword away, "We yield to you, Chieftain."
GM Baerlie |
The kobold audience in the balconies stand up from their seats and clap their hands. Yiddlepode waves at them and bows before leaving the stage, gesturing you to follow her.
Once behind the stage she says "Sorry for the show, but that was necessary to become the new leader of this tribe. My father would't have agreed to a deal, but a path of peace is what helps us both. What are you about to offer if we stop harassing your shipments?"
Maximillian Arcos |
Unwilling to be a party to negotiations involving potential illegal activity, Maximillian walks away from the discussion to let the others handle it.
Vailis |
"We can grant you protection. You can count the Pathfinder Society to not interfere in your business here and we can support you against the other kobold tribes in the area. With our relationship and increasing trade among us, you can soon become the most powerful kobold tribe in Korthos island" exposes the half-elf trying to convince the new chieftain.
Diplomacy aid: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Vanya Kaleth |
"Details will need to be perfected later, but I think we can promise we would be willing to actually pay you to... move stuff in and out of the city without too much notice... and the Pathfinder's Society can be extremely generous with its allies... Also, I believe your brother's traps could have quite the market with us, I had to disable a couple and while not impossible to deal with they certainly showed cunning and talented mind behind their construction" says Vanya to the new kobold leader.
"It's a good thing we killed her father. He paid for all the pathfinder's lives this tribe claimed so there won't be too many hard feelings when we complete this alliance"
Sam Drakenfel |
The society could also fence goods, provide supplies at reasonable prices and get merchandise into the city for your tribe. I am sure a resourceful mind like yours could think of a couple more creative uses for a strong trade partner...
Diplom: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Dylara Yssal |
Dylara wisely keeps her mouth shut. Though she wants to get better at them, Dylara knows she's no good when it comes to diplomatic matters
GM Baerlie |
"Supplies at reasonable prices sounds good. And you know that my brother is a very good alchemist. His extracts are some of the best." Yiddlepode answers. "And the free stunt shows would definitely impress the other members of the tribe. They are always up for a good show."
Creating a truce with the kobolds shows nearly immediate payoff for the Pathfinder Society. Not only do the kobolds keep to their word with regard to harassing shipments, but the Society also arranges a deal wherein the kobolds are in charge of moving the goods through the sewers themselves so the Society doesn’t have to deal with the logistics and risk to its agents, except in cases where experienced Pathfinders’ skills are absolutely necessary. Additionally, the Sewer Dragons who survived the conflict with you stock up Yippitok’s lab and start offering alchemical supplies to the Pathfinder Society at a significant discount.
The end...
