Here I am. You looking for a response to the e-mail(s)? Not sure if this is the tail-end of some correspondence or not so I just wanted to make sure.
Responses are fine, but not necessary - as much or as little as your role-playing dictates. Just thought it might be fun, and a good way of providing a little background information.

Just out of curiosity, what season is it in-game? I was going to mention something about a coat but if it's summer that's not particularly appropriate I imagine.
Consider it early fall.
Could my character have made a more in-depth internet search on Dr. Brewer & the Sanatorium before coming?
Also, does my Blackberry have a signal? (Bobby's checking it in the game thread)
A more in-depth search doesn't reveal much else - the Sanatorium has been favorably reviewed by former patients. Dr. Brewer is regarded as a fine caretaker, but his theories are significantly less supported - two rebuttals in particular, by a Drs. Hagen and Allen, were considered to have rather effectively debunked the entire thing. Brewer has also received lauds in the use of rehabilitated psychiatric patients as staff, something he claims adds to their empathy with the other patients.
Concerning the Blackberry: I'm going to allow it's use on a case-by-case basis - in situations where the knowledge that would be gained is unbalancing or would otherwise destroy the dramatics of the story, it will mysteriously run out of signal. For most other things, I'll probably let it slide.

Sorry, just noticed this now... I really dont' intend to use it to any great extent. It's really just how my character is supposed to stay in touch with his superiors at the company he works at. But, I totally agree with you.

Bluh. Sorry, guys, I got a sudden notice of a family reunion (technically more of a 'we've finally decided the date guess what it's next week!!!') and I've been scampering about preparing for that. Posting kept slipping my mind.
Plus I'm not quite sure where to go, but I think I'll let Sal and Bobby figure that out amongst themselves. I leave on Thursday, get back on Sunday (and then I'm keeping company for another five days), so I'll be on blackout for the first half and slow posting on the second. It's just fine. My family stuff went a little... downhill anyway so I've been pretty thoroughly distracted anyway.
The 90 reminds me of the other CoC PbP I played in where one of the other players had a tendency to roll 00s (often on firearms rolls - and at one point he shot and killed one of the other players, though I can't remember if that was by accident or due to succumbing to a bad guy's magical influence).
That's a tough situation to be in as a GM - on the one hand, rule one should be Have Fun, and killing off players is not going to make them feel like they're having fun. On the other hand, making a game where actions have consequences and high drama is a lot more engaging than one where the players think they can get away with anything.
And sorry to hear about tough times with the family - hopefully everything will get better!
Well, if you're in a Call of Cthulhu game, I think most players realize that death isn't so much 'if' as 'when'. In that particular game everybody was really great about it, and despite the large turnover everybody had a parade of very memorable characters (usually with a couple tucked up their sleeve). It wasn't quite a death-a-minute horror movie meatgrinder, so usually each character had their limelight before sailing into that good night (or going insane).
Interestingly enough, the guy who rolled all the 00s was the only 'starting' character to survive until the campaign folded under the weight of real life. Mind you, he spent the last third or so in the asylum (with wonderful updates about his progress/lack thereof!), but it was still impressive.

Sorry for my absence of posts recently. The end of the quarter is coming up so work on projects is at an extreme, almost unending pace, leading to me almost forgetting about this excellent PbP. If it's no trouble, I wouldn't mind my character being GM controlled. Otherwise, my quarter will be over next Tuesday, at which point I will be free from daily 13-hour coding marathons...
I've been meaning to post that I was going to wait for Bobby to show back up, but time kinda got away from me, too...
I wouldn't be averse to extending the hiatus a wee bit myself. Things've been a bit hectic around here, too.
Extending hiatus sounds totally ok to me - I understand real life getting hectic. I'm glad the two of you are still enjoying the rp! I'll post responses whenever you guys feel fit to throw posts up - this game goes in my mental schedule as "It happens when it happens." Good luck to both of you!
Well, with the holiday excitement now over (or at least in hibernation 'til mid December), things are nice and calm here. I'm ready to resume as soon as Bobby/EG is.
Even if Bobby shows up, I might have to extend the hiatus a little bit - a stupid mishap on my part means that the book I was working out of, as well as my core rulebook, got left at home over Thanksgiving. This will definitely slow my posting speed somewhat, but I can probably make my brother tell me some things over the phone. Sorry for the stupid move!
