Everything looks correct save for possibly the masterwork quarterstaff (I assume that's your arcane bond), your AC also only lists '+3 dex' when you have +4. Your initiative might be off by one... and your damage dice for everything but your crossbow (you left out the -1)...
But I'm bad at any sort of proofreading that isn't grammatical. :)
Charlie Schmidt |
Ah, right. I always forget Imp Initiative is +4. I never take it, so I never know what I'm missing. :)
Charlie Schmidt |
Also, as an important aside... if you're trying to do something, and it is on my (current) skill list just above this post, at 8 or higher, just ask Charlie for help with it... and you're effectively guaranteed to get a +3 to it. (8 + 1d20 + 1d6 = 10-15... on a nat 1.)
Charlie Schmidt |
Charlie didn't say you blasphemed!
Charlie doesn't believe in any gods, and personally believes it's a copout. :)
Bottom right is down. Top left is stop. Top right is up. Bottom left either made the platform, or has a purpose that wasn't clearly visible.
Alynthar42 |
And a blasphemer. Alynthar was also that. Good to know. It would be best if he weren't allowed to speak to any of the Whispers, Flamers, or Verdant... if she could help it. He'd quickly ruin any attempts at reaching mutual dissatisfaction in agreement... and lead them towards mutual dissatisfaction in casualties.
And how does she not believe in gods? Does her world not have clerics?
Charlie Schmidt |
It does, but that doesn't mean she believes the reason their magic works is because a powerful outsider gave them access to it. It's possible that they did, but she's never seen evidence (and her nation doesn't have clerics of its own). As a result, she sticks with 'it doesn't matter to me' and 'saying x told me to' is opting out of free will.
Now, all that being said, Charlie didn't, and wouldn't say that out loud. That's why she thinks your character is a blasphemer. Pointing out that someone's diety had no hand in something closes doors with them, pretty much immediately.
Finally, she's trying to classify each of you into shiny boxes that you probably do not directly fit into unless you're playing a stereotype. :p. It's safe to say I don't think that.
I don't think a lot of things Charlie will. So please don't take insult.
:) hope that helps.

Worse, it's max hp. So it can't be healed. I'm maintaining that I cap out at 8. :)
Charlie Schmidt |
Nothing like necromancy on her planet. Some spells exist for obvious reasons, but dead raising isn't one of them. :)
Alynthar42 |
So, I was wondering. Will we be running into any other people in the course of this game? The survivors who are holed up in the citadel, that is? And how will I, as a wizard, gain new spells? Ordinarily I buy them or trade for them from other wizards, but if there aren't many people left, that may be difficult.
Charlie Schmidt |
Charlie wouldn't be looking for traps... but she would be looking for things of importance. Anything that seemed odd... and since she can find traps, that means she's covered. (and gets +1 to spotting traps!)
Tatu "Tanque" Skarskind |
By the way, I was reviewing the gameplay, and noticed that Charlie seemed oblivious to the concept of necromancy. Does she not know what it is? Or am I misinterpreting something?
Tanque's world has no necromancy either. No magic to speak of. Psychic/psionic abilities exist, but are not widespread nor understood as extant per se. Some folk can just.... do stuff.
Captured psychically talented "subjects" were very valuable to the invading aliens (the Darrein), who studied them and operated on them....almost always resulting in death or madness.
Charlie Schmidt |
Why not death -and- madness!?
Charlie Schmidt |
Ourselves. And everything ever! :o
Or perhaps the sentient AI
Charlie Schmidt |
Your SLA is full-power and doesn't cost anything to use. I dun think that makes it worthless. :) That may just be me, though.

Btw, how are we gonna do initiative? Do we have to wait for the people in front of us to post? I suggest we do what I've seen in PbPs before- everybody who gets to go before the enemy can go whenever they get the chance, then the DM moves the enemy, then whoever goes after the enemy goes.
Tatu "Tanque" Skarskind |
@Alynthar.
Moving to an attack position is useful if there is combat. So far, Initiative has been rolled, but much seems to be happening outside or before that, so that up until I flashed them or -you- shot at them, these critters are merely inhabitants, not bogeys.
Tanque sees three possible enemies. He has moved next to Shield to block the passageway - which anyone else can move through if they desire...
Now it is true he and Shield are in a position to be swamped across the face of the passageway, but being a guerrilla fighter, Tanque is a:) not sure these critters are aggressive, and b:) not willing to move into undefined, possibly dangerous space to be flanked or surrounded. Let them come to us, where we are nominally safe.
* Re: your abilities. You are much more than your magic or special abilities. Part of the challenge of this game is to try to work with what you have, not focus on what you do not yet.
Charlie Schmidt |
I recolored the rats to RGB. If you're colorblind and those don't work for you, just inform me of what needs to be changed! :)
Now you can just pick out which color to go for with relative ease.
Finally, walking into a room where things are floating around... would probably cause a host of problems. Keeping the enemy in 0-g when they attack while you're safe, may well have positive implications for the tanky-men!
Imagine, if you will... that the rats bite! But they have nothing to cling to, so they lose damage. Meanwhile... we swat, and they go flying!
Compare and contrast to fighting bundles of teeth and fur while swimming.
:) Hope that helps!

I suppose that's valid. I just tend to be a fairly aggressive player.
That's cool. I do however differentiate between an aggressive player and an aggressive character.
If you are always pushing to have combat and action as a player, then there will be problems.
I play a lot of….foolhardy/brave melee characters, who go toe to toe with foes, even when not martials.
Tanque is not one of those. To be honest, it's slightly frustrating, but true to his backstory.
And I know that, about the abilities, I just really want to start raising the dead.
Understood. And I know it can be frustrating. If Tanque dies, by all means raise him. Just don't expedite it. :)

That is the nature of PbP's Anynthar.
I do the majority of my posting from my smartphone, but I also tend to sleep (I know, right!) and work, mostly nightshift. Which screws with my diurnal patterns. And I'm in Australia, which makes things even more gleeful.
You can always find other games to play as well as this one. Look around for games on Obsidian Portal, or find games specifying that they are played over Skype, or Roll20.
