Bah...us humans die off too quickly by lifespan. :)
At the time that Gallix, Uesugi and D. are sitting on a bench with a cane from old age, you three are still kicking ass 24/7. ^^

What was that? :P
No wonder elves have pointy ears like that, they're pulled every time as punishment for ridiculing the short lifespan races. ^^
On the other hand, we might reincarnate as gnomes, POWERFUL gnomes, and cheer you up so much you'll be beat when the day is over.
Rinse and repeat... ;)
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne

Please! You think Gallix will live long enough to need a cane? I sincerely doubt it. Haha

Oh man I have found memories of reading about Asterix when I was younger!
Sir D. Arthraven
|
+1 to that. :)
Plus of course the animated films.
12 tasks, Cleopatra, the problem with amnesia....
My brother and i still recall almost every bit of silly dialogue...
Not to mention some of the songs, about the poisonous cake in Egypt. ^^

I remember reading them in the original french. So funny! Best part of my elementary school french class! Where are you from, D?
Sir D. Arthraven
|
Holland.
You start French early, we don't get it until middle school.
French-USA state?
I was poor at French.... ^^
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne
|
Schools differ about language programs in the US. I took French as well, but didn't start until high school. We did have Spanish and American Sign Language available in middle school if I recall, but I opted for French, so I had to wait.

My elementary school, Hamlin School for girls, was like something out of a kid's novel. I was in a snooty private school that had definite hangovers from its finishing school roots. French started in Kindergarten, and we had classes in needlepoint and etiquette. On the other hand, we also had kick-ass science and math classes.
The building we were in was an actual haunted mansion with a restricted floor that we weren't supposed to enter and a supposed tunnel in the basement that dated back from prohibition and the bootleg era. Never found the tunnel, but I did see the ghost of Mrs Stanwood once, and of course I snuck up to the restricted floor. It had a gorgeous skylight, and was a great place for a small kid to sneak away and read her books in peace.

I was raised in New York City. Spanish is overwhelmingly the secondary language, so I learned that while in high school.
Also, if you're going to mention an old human kicking ass all day, I'm always going to think of future Bruce Wayne.

Here's a picture of the inside of my school and here is what it looks like from the outside. Now imagine it with little kids in uniform everywhere, and you can get a really good vision of what my school looked like. Yes, we slid down those bannisters.
New York City would be a very interesting place to grow up, Sirettis! I learned spanish late, and most of mine is self-taught.
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne
|
Cup, that sounds awesome! Sounds like you were half way to a Hogwarts experience! Haha.
Sirettis, I grew up in Central Florida, so I had a similar experience, but I decided against having language skills that would actually be useful in my context. Haha.
Uesugi Hideyoshi

beautiful school indeed. grew up mainly just a little outside of Toronto. In Canada French is taught early since it is our second national language.
Cup

Hey, I also got latin training -- something I've been grateful for all my life. It was a weird education but a really good one. You're not too far off about the Hogwarts experience. We definitely had girls that would have fit right into Slytherin.
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne
|
Yeah, I'd love to learn Latin. I studied ancient Hebrew and Greek is college and seminary, and I wouldn't trade those for anything.
If I might venture a guess, would you consider yourself Hufflepuff?
Cup
|
Ravenclaw, though I have some Hufflepuff tendencies.
Cup
|
You absolutely do have to read them! BTW, thank you for being a good sport about Cup's crush on Mr. Peppers. It amuses me, and fits with in-canon literature about gnomes. They really see beyond species barriers and can't figure out why everyone else doesn't.
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne
|
I'm the same, Cup.
Peppers, you could largely disregard the movies. They don't do the books proper service in my opinion. The new movie in that universe, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, is wonderful though.

I guess I haven't read much these days, other than these forums for the past few months! And I'm not sure how much I'll be doing once ice starts to form.. Likely it'll line up with the BuA adventure of course.
As far as Cup being one of Mr Pepper's adoring fans, I'm thinking he'll need to get used to it as his arcane power grows and with it his fame and renown. Maidens of all shapes, sizes, colors, and creeds will flock to his flowing locks and dour looks. She can say she was the first. (aka No problem!)

I tend to read discussion before gameplay.
Cup's got a crush on Mr. Peppers?
Oh boy.... :)
We get French, German and English in middle school, of which the latter starts in elementary's last year.
Having done Tourism-ed, i was able to speak a lot of English.
Speaking only my own becomes boring if i'm abroad.
A pity i forgot about 90% of the SPanish we were taught there.

Edit:
Suuuuure, girls flock to the Snape type. ^^

Oh man, 45 min meeting and I come back to 15 discussion/10 gameplay posts...!

Gah! Posted, GM moves us along. I edit to catch up, Uesugi beats me to the conversation with the priest.
I just can't catch a break with you people! Haha

Good morning. Except that it's bedtime!
Let's do the Time Warp again!
Hmm

It's just a jump to the left...
By the way, got my game day boom this evening. Sadly no grippli for me, but it is a pretty cool one that gives me temporary access to some combat feats depending on where the scenario I'm in takes place. Kinda like martial flexibility but regionally based.
Cup

Yes, you won it in my game! I won no boons but my players won plenty!! It made me a happy GM. Six boons over three games.
I'm such an over achiever.

Yeah I'm definitely grateful for the lucky rolls that landed me that boon. That was a fun game too. :)
Sir D. Arthraven

This is surprising.
I've been away for almost 5 hours, and only Uesugi has posted.
Mr. Peppers
|
Good morning! Let me help you out on that D.
PS, I won a boon from the jungles on Luurg from the first half of the gameday thinger, be interesting to see what it is.
Sir D. Arthraven
|
My boon gets me bonuses vs genies....who would have thought...
3 things, of which 2 use up checkbox slots when used.
AC, +4/6 on social stuff...neat.
Sirettis
|
I got a boon that requires my character to be a tough guy.
So, grippli Barbarian who wafes into melee too much? Intimidation Fighter? Ooh, a braggart bard!
Mr. Peppers
|
What is everyone off today for the holidays and busy cleaning and cooking or something? Gotta take short breaks doing all that stuff!
GM Red
|
I'm here! But I can't do much without you guys.
I'll have even more time on my hands tomorrow since I'll be at home. Ah, pretty nice for a Canadian to get US Thanksgiving off.
Mr. Peppers
|
You're welcome.. I do what I can.
Mr Peppers is going to get out his cattle prod to keep people moving along I guess.
Sirettis
|
Sirettis is outside playing with the kids, so she has nothing to contribute.
I'll be online today and tomorrow morning and then it's Turkey Time. Let's say I don't think I'll be active by this time tomorrow.
Mr. Peppers
|
Yes tomorrow I'll be posting in the morning then not again until that night if I survive the food coma.
