Justinian Doran |

Round 2
Justinian continues to move up. "Stay together." he says, loud enough for everyone to hear, especially Sunset. "If we get separated, they'll swarm us." He thinks for a moment about that.
"Pun definitely intended." He says grimly.
I'm a little confused on the Rounds. Should I be posting for Round 3 as well? I'd like to keep with Seraph, but she is moving a round ahead? Also, for everyone, I'm going to try and keep the spells and channels back until the s&^t really hits the fan, so don't get crazy.

Seraph_ |

i will wait until everyone has posted then before posting my actions to keep it simpler. I was assuming that the DM was already so we didnt have to slow down the roubds. Apologies for any confusion.

Asta Blackheart |

Asta runs until she arrives next to Seraph, aims her crossbow at the yellow ant, and squeezes off a bolt.
Moving to one square south of Seraph. Ranged attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 for 1d8 ⇒ 4 damage. DAMMIT

Asta's attack is swiftly followed by Seraph's charge. Charging the yellow ant and drawing her massive blade, she brings the weapon down at full strength in an attempt to kill the ant assailing Strawberry. Though the blow was well placed, the power she thru behind it made it waver as the cutting edge came down towards the ants large abdomen...

Sunset throws one of her special bombs after the fleeing mite. It briefly lights up an intersection thirty feet into the mine with an explosion.
Asta has follows Seraph with her crossbow ready.
Torod puts an arrow through the last ant killing it as he moves forward.
Strawberry moves forward to the mine entrance.

Sunset moves back and waits for the party to regroup.
"Looks like that lil' bugger scarpered. We're in fer lots'a fun an' adventure now..."

Seraph_ |

When the last enemy falls, Seraph stabs her blade into the ground and stowed her bow. Seeing Sunset's bloodied clothes she steps up behind her, cocking her head to inspect the injuries momentarily. "Stand still..." She placed her hand over the injury as she intoned. "Make right that which has been marred..." As the injuries started to heal she continued speaking. "... let no scars remain."

Sunset gives Seraph an acknowledging nod of thanks but keeps her weapons held at the ready. As Seraph moves forwards Sunset coughs, glancing to Astra,
"Here luv, a moment. Ye an' Justinian should shoulder up." She looks towards the other warrior. "Ye sword swingers, with yer shields an' all, should be better fightin' t'gether, hey?" She susggests.
"Jus' look out fer fallin' in't holes an' pits an' stuff tha' lil buggers might a' been diggin' while we've been sotrin' things out some." Sunset cautions.

Asta is next with Torod and Strawberry taking up the rear.
Sunset carefully checks the ground in front of her as she moves deeper into the mine, taking a left 30 feet from the entrance the group moves deeper into the mine following the tunnels carved by the miners as they followed the gold vain. With only a handful of short dead end branches, there is only one way forward for the first 100 feet.
20 feet ahead of Seraph and Justinian, the floor suddenly gives way under Sunset exposing a 30 foot pit with a living carpet of some type at the bottom!

Pretty sure I can grab the rope easily next round. It's surviving the ants. An' I in't even bin dipped in honey. :P

Justinian Doran |

How wide is the tunnel? If it's 10' then Asta can't lower a rope unless she's still behind Seraph and Justinian. How big is the swarm? If it's the 10'x 10' of the pit floor, then Asta should cast an area spell or drop an alchemist fire. (And avoid Sunset.)
"Seraph! Grab that rope from Asta and pull! Someone drop a spell or a flask in there, and don't hit her! Justinian shouts as he brandishes his holy symbol. A cyan light bursts forth, it's healing power just reaching Sunset at the bottom.

Justinian posted 40 secs ahead of me lmao, editing. kinda of.
Setting her blade down she moves to assist Asta, taking hold of the rope and waiting for when Sunset grabs hold to pull her up out of the pit. "Cover us." Expecting an ambush she asked the rest of their companions to provide cover.

And much thanks for the healin!
Passing the rope is a free action so Seraph and Justinian should be able to pull away smartly. :)

Justinian Doran |

Yes, the tunnel is 10 foot wide. Swarm is 10x10. Yes you could target a square that Sunset is not in, splash would still hit her, but where the fun in that. Also I believe she has DR 10 vs fire anyway.
That's where I was going. Justinian doesn't have the cash to afford any of that, so it's up to someone else.

Sunset, |

Is DR 5 fire. Lets not get too far ahead of our DR, hey? (^_~)

Sunset throws a bomb at ground zero, highly effective at burning lots of ants and singeing herself.
Asta gets out a rope and throws one end into the pit.
Justinian calls out orders and then channels the healing power of Iomedea for Sunset.
Seraph drops her blade and takes hold of the rope ready to pull.
Sunset calls back to hold on the raining fire on her.
(Assuming speed of pulling a person up a rope is about the same as accelerated climbing {half speed} with no check.)
Grabbing hold of the rope after throwing her bomb, Sunset holds tight as Seraph and Asta pull. Unfortunately these ants are clingy and the ones on Sunset continue to bite and sting as she is pulled halfway up the pit.
Torod and Strawberry keep guard, but don’t see any creatures attempting an ambush.
The ant swarm starts to climb the pit walls.
Situation: Seraph and Asta have hold of the rope pulling Sunset up. Sunset is 15 feet from the bottom and top of the pit. She is still covered in ants that are clinging to her.
The clinging ants can be removed by Sunset taking a full round action and making a DC17 reflex save. Also, by High winds or any amount of area effect damage.

"Somebody throw some alchemist fire into the pit, and try to get Sunset in the splash zone," she snarls between her teeth.

Asta and Seraph haul on the rope pulling Sunset 15 more feet to the top lip of the pit.
Seraph’s tail pulls out a vial from her backpack.
Torod pulls out a flask of alchemist fire and hit Sunset squarely with it. A flash of fire burns all the ants that were clinging to the aasimar and severely burns the rope she is being hauled up by which what is left is now on fire and looking like it won’t last much longer. On the bright side Sunset is unharmed by the alchemist fire.
Crisply little ant bodies rain down the the pit from Sunset.
Situation: Seraph and Asta have hold of the rope pulling Sunset up. Sunset is at the top lip of a 30 feet pit. The rope she is holding on to is severely burnt and on fire burning (likely to give way any moment).

3d6 is a crazy amount of damage for a swarm at our level...speaking of which, I only rolled 2d6 for my Channel, and it should have been 3d6. If allowed, I will add another d6 for Sunset.
Channel fix: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Really?
Justinian sighs as the alchemical fire eats at the rope. '...just once....just once...I wish someone would take heed...' But he doesn't have time to voice his thoughts. From the side of his pack, he yanks his coil of rope and attending grappling hook from the quick release. He drops the free end next to Sunset while setting the hook on Seraph's pack.
"Don't move." He quips grimly to the tiefling paladin.
