Rev Rosey |

Welcome to the all new Lost City game thread.
The players:
Bluenose - keeping Guldarin (Dwarf Invoker - controller)
Celestial Healer - possibly keeping Nayce (if so - half-elf assassin - striker)
Detritus - changing to someone darker than an eladrin cleric
Fabes - a wide variety of characters to choose from
Pat - melee leader under construction
Peasant Railgun - drow paladin
Wrath - looks to me like you can pick just about any role you like.
Timescale: Not until Halls finishes. The climactic battle has just started, so depending on how that goes, I'd say our likely start date would be October-ish.
In the meantime, I need to read the adventure a few more times and you can all start rustling up pcs (or making potential adaptations to the ones you have already).
For old-timers, feel free to keep any items you already have and give yourselves 17,000gp to spend on whatever you want. Re-tool to level 13.
New characters, you start at level 13 and get one magic item of level 14, one of 13 and one of 12 plus mundane stuff for free. You also get 17,000gp to spend on what you want.
I suggest that you all allocate some money to a communal pool for rituals before you go on a mad spending spree.
As noted on the old Halls thread, no evil alignments please.
The lost city is hidden in a desert, which may make some difference to the types of powers and feat that you choose. Bear in mind that you won't necessarily be spending a lot of time in the open however.
This will be set in the default Points of Light setting using the usual deities and such.
If anyone has queries, questions or just wants to run stuff past others, go ahead.

Rev Rosey |

I don't understand is this an invitation to make new characters or play the ones you have outlined?
Formyself I'm considering an Eladrin War Wizard
Apologies. This is a new adventure for a pre-existing group. I do already have seven players, but if you'd like to be put on the alternates list, I'd be happy to do that.

FabesMinis |

I think I will go for playing Gladness the tiefling mage (controller), as we look to have all the roles covered, so we can double up. Plus two controllers are lethal :D
"Tally-ho, chaps!"
Oh yes, she has the characterisation of a Victorian adventuress...

Rev Rosey |

Tieren is also interested in this. 8 is a lot, but based on past experience there may well be a fair attrition rate, so I'm inclined to say let's go for it. You're all reliable players and I'm prepared to risk it if you are.
Doors close here however. If anyone else wants in, they will be alternates.

I built a Goliath warden last night in a fit of enthusiasm. He's an earthbound with some crossover into controller given the powers I've chosen.
I'll get him statted up today and post my new forum persona in here for all of to look over. Any and all advice is welcome, especially since I've really only experienced this game as a dm.
Rev, I can email you the character builder file if you are happy to let me know your address, or would you prefer to enter it manually from what I post here?
Cheers

Rev Rosey |

Use this to contact me off the boards.
The Leaders:
Pat - halberd wielding goliath cleric (if I'm remembering right)
Fabes - dainty Victorian-esque artificer
The Tanks
Peasant - elegant drow paladin
Wrath - goliath warden
The Striker
Celestial - Nayce the pensive assassin
The Controller
Bluenose - Guldarin - long-tongued philosophical non-Scottish dwarf
I'm barely controlling my laughter already.
Detritus and Tieren - looks like Striker and Controller seem the places to go, but feel free to play what you want.

Greeg |

Ok, here is Wrath's Goliath Warden, Greeg.
I've created him using the character builder I have available. So far its only the mechanics that I copy/pasted from the summary tab. I'll go through later when I get more time today and update descriptions for feats and powers.
I'll create some sort of background for him as well, possibly tied to Pat's? since they're both goliaths and both new to the party.
He's big and protective, comes from the mountains and likes long walks through dark places.
For some reason, the character builder has placed a -2 penalty to both my AC and Ref that I can't work out, so it is possible both those stats are higher than this profile suggests.
I still have 7000 gold left to spend, which I'm happy to chip in to get rituals for folks, or to buy a collection of potion type things as required.
Will send you that file soon Rev.
Cheers

FabesMinis |

Forgive the presumption...
The Leaders:
Pat - halberd wielding goliath cleric (divine) (if I'm remembering right)
Detritus - sentinel druid (primal)
The Tanks
Peasant - elegant drow paladin (divine)
Wrath - goliath warden (primal)
The Striker
Celestial - Nayce the pensive assassin (shadow)
The Controller
Bluenose - Guldarin - long-tongued philosophical non-Scottish dwarf (divine)
Unknown
Tieren - striker or controller
Fabes - prob arcane controller or striker
We deffo need another striker, so I will play whatever role Tieren does not.

Kevaras Zanorin |

All of the strikers and controllers i want to make probably would not get along with the Paladin, having fiendish/undead/shadowy pets doesnt make for a good companion.
I've seen my fair share of fiends and shadows during my previous life in the Underdark, where they're as common as cows and horses here on the surface.
Although my boss, the Raven Queen, opposes the undead on principle.

Pat o' the Ninth Power |

EDIT: Missed that detritus is the Essentials druid, which is a leader.
So:
Controllers: Tieren (psion), Bluenose (invoker)
Leaders: Pat (cleric), detritus (druid)
Strikers: Celestial (assassin), Fabes (??)
Defenders: Peasant (paladin), Wrath (warden)
So, a paladin, a cleric, and a sentinel druid for healing, controller synergy, plenty of defense, adequate striking. Probably 5 melee and 2 ranged, plus Fabes.

Tieren |

Ok so I'm working on some equipment here and I'm wanting a second opinion on this:
Manifester Weapon: Power( Daily) Minor Action. You gain 1 power point until the end of your next turn. You can use this power point only to augment a psionic attack power.
Does this seem like I would have to use the weapon itself in said power, or I kick off the weapons ability with the minor and can use the point through say my orb?

Good question. My instinct says that if the power is attached to a weapon, then you need to use it *with* the weapon, but I'm very open to correction if anyone knows any better.

For those who may be concerned about group size, something I'm noting as I read through it is that The Lost City is a big sprawling adventure. There may well be times when you will find it advantageous to split up (I know, I know, heresy and don't split the party). Without giving too much away, there is a lot of potential for the party to try and influence matters among different communities.

Wrath - I've run Greeg through CB for you and a couple of things occur to me.
He's fantastically flavourful, which I love, but you may want to swap out a couple of feat to make him a touch more effective. This is from a non-power builder, btw, just based on experience of what kind of defenses you are likely to be meeting at this level.
Anyway - practicalities.
Taking Improved Defenses (which you can't do in old CB) gives you AC28/F28/R24/W26 which makes you a good bit tougher all around. I (tentatively) swapped out Sudden Roots.
The other thing I think you should seriously consider is some kind of weapon feat. +16 to your attacks is going to be very tough for you. I've tentatively taken out Crushing Earthstrength in favour of Hammer Expertise which puts you at +17, but I'm sure others can find ways to improve that without removing the flavour that you want.
For some reason it doesn't believe you can have a heavy shield, which is silly. I do, so it stands.
You need to pick either Giant or Dwarven as an extra language.
Apart from that, he looks great :)

Tazi |

Depends on the size of his hammer.
Oo-er.
Hey boys, Tazi here, your Thief (Master Thief paragon path). Shortbow as primary weapon, back-up with shortsword. Most of my powers and feats are about shifting around and climbing (I assume there will be plenty of ruins to clamber up).
I have a bag of holding, but will ditch it if someone already has one.

Excuse me, miss. Your link is non-functional.

Thanks Rev, I'll take another look over him soon and retweak. We have some time before kick off so I reckon I could adjust him to be a little more effective.
I also think I've doubled up his AC items. Both shield and armour provide standing bonuses to AC until first hit. One is specifically item bonus, the other is no type (Force shield). However, I think they don't stack and I could probably do better with more thought.
I'll play around and make some changes and then post him that that website you're all using :)
Cheers

Latest character run down, as of today:
Controllers: Tieren (psion, ranged), Bluenose (invoker, ranged)
Leaders: Pat (cleric, melee), detritus (druid, melee?)
Strikers: Celestial (assassin, melee), Fabes (thief, ranged with good melee)
Defenders: Peasant (paladin, melee), Wrath (warden, melee)
This looks like a good mix: You could be a little ranged light, but as long as Guldarin can keep the edge team alive with Angel Power you should be OK.

Tieren |

Has anyone looked at the Thrallherd PP for Psion? Really confusing stuff! Seems like it could be pretty cool but I don't understand some of it, Its not totally fleshed out. I can't tell if you wanted to give a thrall a craghammer, if I would need to burn a feat on prof or not for the thrall?
I love the idea of a gnome riding around on the horns of a minotaur thrall or something similar. Playing with different builds now, obviously haha.
