Four hundred and fifty plus years is a long time for a colony to be isolated. A lot of funny things happen to people when they are isolated from the rest of humanity for that long. What will become of these people?

Okay, we got escalated from call-centre to manager. Yey!

While I was tinkering up Ceres reply I realized that I was thinking of playing some cards as a show of faith but then I realized that I shouldn't be spilling our beans without consulting the rest of you : )

In short, I was planning on a quick jab to puncture the spy notion then move over to the more important stuff - sucking em dry for info :P

They seem to be well aware of our homeworld fakery or simply running a quick bluff. However, they are going to find out about that eventually anyhow, so I'm thinking of simply giving them some nuggets of truth right away.

Remember that ship that brought us the Martha MacTavish?

It carried a dire warning about something ominous that was lurking about. If our current hosts had any visit from the galaxy at whole, they would also have heard this. If not, which seems more likely, a picture of a slagged (retouched so that none of the stars appear) warship might nudge them in the right direction.

This should give us a good reason for lying about our origin - and keep doing so. ("This ship ran gauntlet trough a supernova to give us an early warning. Still wondering why we don't just hand out a map leading home to every insistent stranger?")

Now, this ominous threat also gives us a pretty good reason to ask them to reassure us that their 'Fateful' is simply marauding neighbours and nothing more. ("Yeah, you keep saying they are just thugs. But we can't be sure of that [hint: Give us proof/plot info!]. You might just be in league with them... And I rather fire my jump drive inside here then get caught by them!")

I also plan to compare this station to a doughnut and/or a merry-go-around :P

Thoughts?

Great memory. Good instincts. I support.

cheers

I like it. It seems like they was us to think that they have us by the short hairs (and in a way, they do), it just seems our M.O. to kind of screw playing it quiet.

So yeah, I say raise a ruckus, bring up the melted ship, and let tensions get high. Then, when the other guys start attacking, we can either make an escape, or join up for the betterment of everyone, just like TVTropes likes! : )

Mkay, then I will roll with it!

However, the hour is sorta late here, and I don't want to accidentally declare war just because my brain is more focused on my bed then my post. I shall get something up tomorrow asap!

(Also, I noted that mdt was sorta swamped today [form another pbp] so I think I can get away with a good nights sleep before slapping him with another post :P)

That said, if anyone can think of something to say or bring up (be it a nice formulation or another point) or anything, feel free to spash them up here : )

(And yeah, it would be sorta cool to pewpewpew a bit with our ship. Until the other guys pewpewpew back :P)

Silver Crusade

Shame the Her ladyship is not there, she would say,

what she would say:

Get the ship to hack thire computer system again, it did it once it can do it again, stop them Targeting Us while we get away, then fine a safe spot to make a brake for the gate.
While they gett attacked or what ever.

They will count you a target and they will think your in with the bad guys, but ha no, that or sit inside ground Ziro, I know you think we can dissuade them from this, but never forget the paranoid military mind. Coincidance as done for us here, they suspect us with the bad guys any way They will come and get you ASAP, to try and get us to talk ,
spill the beans etc if your not nothing last

Where expendable, they have not done it yet because they are worried they could start ta conflict with your bosses, if they do,

The other view is that ship is after us not them.

Ether way expect company, if it's not been sent, now we now made a move to split, it will be sent.

Least they are going to do, is split us all up and put you under arrest until they know what's going on.

@Speech - it turned out a bit rambling, hopefully not too wordy!

@Data packs - Ceres will send over a picture of the SSS William retouched without the stars in the background (they can be used to identify us!) as well as a few readings and pictures from our expedition there. Radiation and a few pictures of cooked crewmembers and thin speckles of blood should do the trick. As for Them, Ceres will send whatever the Lost Colony Protocol sent us (pic)

@Next PC - I don't totally recall, but didn't we have rolled stats ?

And while we are on the topic, it would feel only proper if the Captain-stick wandered on to the next person : )

@Hacking - Do we think that perhaps our ship left them the video we got? To infect a ship heading to the main world and disperse at a moment of choice :P

Honestly, I have a hard time seeing any (logical*) reason for them to actually lie to us and we might be able to coax some sort of image off our probes.

I saw we stay put but don't stand down. We should make it clear that we intend to stay neutral in any disputes between other human colonies, at least without all of the information (from both sides) as to the nature of the disputes.

We don't really lose anything by staying put (for now). And if they try anything funny we blow our way out.

Well, if we let them on our craft, we have a home field advantage, and might be able to take a captive if things go sour.

But if we go on their craft then we might get to see more of their technology level.

So, I guess this is a decision of safety vs. curiosity? Either is fine with me, honestly.

They've already visited us during their inspection. I'd prefer having hostages than being hostages if it comes to that.

Map | Captain | Stamina 28/28 | Lifeblood 12/12 | AC 16/12/14 | Ref +3 Fort +2 Will +7 | Init +2 |

Indeed, safety vs curiosity.

Now - it seems as if we are a bit split on the issue, should I just roll a dice =)?

1=Our ship
2=Station
3=Their ship

(On the other hand, no-one was mentioned the Station... Skip that one ?)

I'm not sure we should even consider the station. It has all of the bad things associated with meeting on their ship, with no real chance to gain new information.

Ok, so I'm going to assume that we're giving up our weapons.

But how forward do we want to be with them? Full disclosure, or evasive?

Map | Captain | Stamina 28/28 | Lifeblood 12/12 | AC 16/12/14 | Ref +3 Fort +2 Will +7 | Init +2 |

Hmm. I thought about it a little bit and I am not sure what is best.

Now, Ceres feel that giving up the location/route/name of our homeworld is a no-no ("Sorry, I am not authorized to give you that information!). However, everything else is pretty much in the open (perhaps we should shut up about the Mylthani for now).

So - confirm 'yeah we are a lost colony too'. A bit about the state of our world, a bit about what we can trade, a bit about declaration of friendship ect ect. Perhaps if there is something they want help with? If they want to send a diplomat.

Everything but 'here is a map to our home'.

If that made sense :P

Thoughts?

Map | Captain | Stamina 28/28 | Lifeblood 12/12 | AC 16/12/14 | Ref +3 Fort +2 Will +7 | Init +2 |

So, basically, a disclosure where we are honest about exactly what we can and cannot say.

Map | Captain | Stamina 28/28 | Lifeblood 12/12 | AC 16/12/14 | Ref +3 Fort +2 Will +7 | Init +2 |

Also, the warship that visited us didn't strike me as ancient. But, given the mission of 'nova-running', it might have been a surplus vessel that was sacrificed.

Is our host running a bluff perhaps ?

We should be wary of giving any kind of star charts. Our home is not that far from them, yet they never found it. So either they have limited warp capabilities or no real ability/desire to explore (and I didn't see any closed warp points along the way).

Map | Captain | Stamina 28/28 | Lifeblood 12/12 | AC 16/12/14 | Ref +3 Fort +2 Will +7 | Init +2 |

It didn't feel like the warp-point we entered trough was known to them, given that it was completely unguarded.

Perhaps they had more pressing issues to spend resources on (their b*&@%%~ crazy neighbours for once! Unless they lie, of course ...)?

Or simply didn't have time/energy to scan their entire system yet. We didn't have much to actually *do* on our homeworld, so all the resources could basically be allocated to this exploration phase.

Hmm.

I shall try and get a meaty post up by tonight : )

You entered from a closed warp point, meaning it wasn't detectable on this side.

Ah, must have missed that when I went dredging through the warp descriptions. My bad. : /

I'm good with the time skip. Character creation will take me some time due to the infrequence of use.

I would greatly appreciate an abridged timeline going back sufficiently long enough to incorporate a new character's backstory. So much has happened, and I believe I've forgotten more than I remember.

I would also appreciate some forecast of skill usage in the future. I built vathan for personal combat, but his Forte only came into play about 5-10% of the game. Don't get me wrong. I still had fun but felt the character was too much of a spectator. Which was fine, because there was so much to spectate.

Maybe you could provide a description of the key roles or positions for the future mission that we can build characters towards.

Cheers

I'm actually going to leave it up to you guys.

I'm assuming you'll want to continue with explorers (scout class opens up). If anyone wants to do mylthani, let me know, as I'll have to work them up as a species.

Last I knew you were all leaning toward the 8-10 year skip. Just need to know for sure.

I think explorers would be nice.

Or perhaps the 'proper' navy/army in a campaign against those obstructing fanatics. But I'm not sure how much *stuff* we can actually fit into that line, before we either go splat or succeed.

I *think* I will remain human : )

Thoughts :

I would think that Ceres might have been assigned as being in charge of the Scout Corps. Vathan makes sense, given his martial bent, as having been put in charge of the Forward Recon Marine Regiment, making him the senior marine officer outside Telthani (which would be in MWP08).

Holt would make most sense being in charge of R&D and the naval shipyards in Telthani.

Annarra is likely a representative on the Clan Council at this point.

Thoughts, alterations?

What sort of characters does everyone want?

I'm good with vathan's appointment. Even if he achieved more from luck and being a PC than skill.

As for new character concepts, where do you want to take the next story? More exploration?

If yes, I would enjoy the following concepts in no particular order:
* psychic
* medical officer
* first officer
* captain

Would you want the mission state sponsored? Or would you want to go corporate sponsored like the subplot of Aliens?

Are there any aliens available? What do the Mythani game mechanics look like?

If I stay human, I may want to link my next PC to Vathan. Maybe a bastard that he finally discovers.

Cheers

Yes Aannra would have done all she could to bring about unification under the big agreement, a would council, / confedrucy would be her aim, out side of that them growth of the pyicopes, empathas being identified would be part her doing. Member of the Clan Council is a must.

I would like to stick with Zodany, like vathem I would like him liked to Aannra,
Was thinking it my be her son/nephew .
If vathem gos Mythani psy then thinking we all take a little psi stuff. A psi crew would be cool and we would be his collective

Son/nephew Utoxiter Lee would by Pycorpes trinned noble/Scout,
big into the new cybernetics .I also really like the idea of a precog poilot .

Mylthani up on the campaign page.

Lysandran are also an option, however, Lysandran have no PsiCorps, and very few psi's.

No other alien species yet (may come down the line).

Lysan is a Constitutional Monarchy, currently led by Empress Alsatia Aleskina Malteria Leskova the Third. The colony was originally settled by a mixture of Russian, European, and North American settlers. It started out as a Tax Haven for the rich, who set themselves up as royalty with titles. Over time, the titles became inherited and an actual monarchy resulted. Their language is a heavily modified version of Galactic, salted through with Russian, Yugoslavian, and English words. Their speech mannerisms are something of a cross between South Alabama and Vladistovian Russian.

Mission can be state sponsored, or private corp. Private corp will be heavily heavily overseen by the government though, considering the dangers out there.

I feel that state sponsored would probably be the most sensible. Also, it feels better. Can't really put my finger on why, but it does (probably due to how corporations is frequently portrayed in Sci Fi :P).

Also, I'm going to mention again that I would be happy to have the Captain hat rotate around, so to speak : )
