I want to be totally clear on the doors, here;

You have already explored all the doors in the short hall behind the dais.

The room that Aylaeth and Mai and Livain are in is the "chanting room", and is through the door at Y-1 on the map. This room itself has a second door, on which Mai just picked the lock.

There is another door at Y-17 that a couple Red Dragonflight soldiers escaped out of.

There is another door right of the hallway in which you first entered; the "silent door."

Here is the map again, for reference, obviously the positions you are in aren't the correct ones, so ignore that.

SO! I know where Aylaeth and Mai and Livain are, and it sounds like Captain Lamorak is with them as well, for now, but after the door is open he will be heading back to the portal area while the magi start working on deciphering the runes.

Min, it sounds like, is starting with the door at Y-17.


There were originally six Warbanians, but the one that cut down one of the floating black dragonflight sacrifices died, so now there are just five. Two are with Damian and three are with Min, unless you guys decide otherwise.


Aylaeth: there's 8 hours of work and you two are gonna split it up. It's that simple.


@Aylaeth and @Mai: Okay, let's do the rolls here, then I'll post spoilered info for you telling you what you find out, then you can do awesome cool "research montage" posts in the IC thread. Here are the rolls you each have to make:

Mai, I'm not seeing K(Religion) on your sheet at all, that means Aylaeth will have to do that part for you.

As I said, you can roll each of these checks multiple times, but each roll costs you one hour of time. So, if you make them all on the first try, it'll be a total of four hours spent since what's happening here is you're both working simultaneously on different parts of the room (I assume Mai is on ceiling duty while Aylaeth looks at the floor). Aid Another checks are of course legal, but whoever is aiding can only aid one of you since you're working simultaneously.

So, whenever you're feeling lucky, roll away! Time for our roving scholar-warriors to prove their worth off the battlefield.

@DRA: I know that I took leadership with both Chu and Min but I have different ideas in mind for them.

I'm putting it all here just to make things easier lol!

Chu is out to create a network of informants and spies. Eyes and ears of the empire and will eventually expand this network beyond the empire of mists.

Min will, when he has time, start gathering soldiers and craftsmen to start combating Dragonflight forces in a small way. Most of this will be handwaved i'm sure and I was looking at gathering surviving members of Heartland to kick it off so its not a near future thing just yet.

If you want me to select different feats I will. :)

As for the whole Cohort part of it... yeah. Dunno how that will work yet.

I can see Min's being a commander on the ground with the fighting forces or getting things setup while he is away with the party. As for Chu's i'm not sure. A body guard or a similar idea like Min, a loyal head chief who keeps things in line and gathers together the intel.

I feel like Chu's will be a more Game of Thrones politic's/informants.

@Min: Just to be clear about the Warbanians' attitude; they aren't being snobs, per se, it's just that doing door-to-door bag-n-tag work really is something they don't do; Warbanians are the cream of the crop, and are hired for combat, then the regular army comes in for loot, handling prisoners, etc.

Basically, imagine if you're a helicopter pilot and you get hired to fly some researchers around in remote territory. After a quick couple flights, though, they just set you to washing dishes and cleaning camp. You'll probably do it, (unless you're a total jerk), but you're gonna make DAMN sure you get paid, and paid your full rate, because it's not what you signed up for, and really not the kind of stuff you're good at, or enjoy doing. That kind of thing.

I'm probably over-explaining. :-p

Nope, your explaining just fine and thats what I was just thinking lol. Also Min is very inclined to see that they get paid for their time. Especially for saving his hide from being skewered again by that devil.

Let me know when you got time about how you want me/you to handle the Leadership feat or if you want me to pick something else.


@Min: Important note; Red Dragonflight personnel escaped out three different places:

1. The priests escaped somewhere in the hallway where the children are currently being kept, presumably out the double-doors that led to steps.

2. The foot soldiers escaped out the door you're in right now, and I don't think it'd be too big of a stretch for a soldier/scout like Min to realize that they probably hightailed it right up the steps (remember the deadfall trap?) to the outside, across the balcony, and are making their way down the mountainside at this minute, if they aren't already in the jungle. There IS, however, also the possibility that they just went back deeper into the mountain, through that hall with all the doors. It's difficult to tell.

If you make a DC23 Survival(Tracking) check, (Warbanians can Aid Another if you want), then you can at least discern in what direction they went, but again; they have a huge lead on you at this point, and are all skilled, professional soldiers.

3. There was somebody, or perhaps several somebodies, in the "chanting room" where Mai and Aylaeth are currently working, and they probably escaped out the door on the far side of that room.

In short, the odds of Min tracking down any of them are pretty small. You're certainly welcome to try, of course, but that's a long road.

Stormfare is a good place for it, too, since there is a very large half-orc population as well as a population of very rare, peaceful gnolls. No idea what you're gonna do with the kobolds.

So yeah. As I say, it'll be interesting. I look forward to seeing how it plays out.

Just trying to state actions ahead of time to keep everything rolling quickly since Mai and Ayleath are going to be tied up for awhile....

All the rooms by Aylaeth have been explored.

AO-7: room with desk, etc. on fire
AO-10: room with lever and misc. empty phylacteries
AS-7: room filled with children and jail cells
AS-10: bunk room that you explored with the Warbanians, in which you found beds and some money
AV-8/9: double-doors that open onto stairs going up.

Basically, all the low-hanging fruit has been taken care of. All that's left is to explore the long, dark, difficult, mysterious areas. Which with the way Aylaeth's rolls went, you may have time to do. ;-)

Okay, so, with Aylaeth needing 15-ish hours, it's basically gonna be a full day to get the whole "rune room" figured out, including time for eating and sleeping. Tomorrow AM I'm gonna post Mai and Aylaeth's discoveries, and if the rest of you want to post what you're doing in the meantime (exploring? sleeping? catching up on your knitting?), that is totally rad but not required.

I'm gonna post the discoveries as a big spoiler to save space, and in the hopes that our magi will do some cool "research and report" posts. Though in the end if you'd rather just read the spoiler, feel free, just don't metagame off it. :-)

Also, Min, I'm gonna be pushing the Seer's group along soon, so it's gonna be interesting to see what happens to Lin and Belsarious. You two may want to start thinking about possible courses of action (on the meta-level) now that you know the rest of the group is not coming back to Stormfare anytime soon.

Min will be exploring what he can. Whether it is outside or inside the fort. If Damian doesn't respond then Min will take a trip outside and try and scout out the area around them before delving inside. Since he requires only 2 hrs of sleep he can do about 15 hrs of exploration easy.

Do you want me to post that in-game DRA? Or just some rolls like survival, P soldier, Stealth and such?

And, I could be wrong, but I'm not sure that Bel and Lin and Tora'an (and where is Keythan by the way?? ) and Brook and Sarish joining up with the Seers group is exactly what DRA had in mind with his comment.

It just doesn't make sense, in many ways. The Seers group is all about Stealth and getting Cassandra to where she needs to go all incognito-like. Huge Silver Dragon and Shining Celestial Pegasus incognito are Not.

Plus, I'm sure the Skyknights will be wanting to meet up with their mounts sooner than later. Being with the Seer's group on the other side of the continent might make that difficult.

Finally, the Skyknights have their own super urgent mission and I see no reason why those in Stormfare can't start working on it, as much as possible, from their end.

Considering the Volcano crew has a bunch of teleport scrolls (and a wand I think) on them, really they should all be reunited fairly soon. But if somehow they can't do it from their end, then maybe Lin and crew can scry out their location and start making their way towards them?

Anyway, bottom line is there's still lots for the Skynights in Stormfare to do, joining up with the Seer's group though is just not part of it, IMHO. YMMV.

So I was looking through some old discussion posts and noticed this one. If/when you get some dragonscale armor you should really look at this.

I could totally imagine Min having collected Lin's scales over their time together and having someone make this for him.

I totally though about getting Maiathreen some cheap armor that could be dragonscaled for this enchantment for a short period of time.

This armor has a long tail built into it, in the style of the dragon from which it is made, which coils and moves as though alive. The tail works to aid the wearer in numerous minor ways. For lesser armor, it grants +1 to the number of atacks of opportunity the wearer can potentially take each round, and a +5 bonus to Acrobatics, Fly, or Swim checks (each suit of armor grants a bonus to only one of these skills, determined randomly). For moderate whiptail armor the bonuses are +2 atacks of opportunityperroundanda+10competence bonus to the selected skill, and for greater whiptail armor +3 atacks of opportunity per round and a +15 competence bonus to the skill. One thing I can think that we could do is deliver the message to Lestho that she promised to do earlier. From there we could still hunt down some of the Abominations and such. there is loads to do. Granted if it involves buildings...

Well Lin makes a great battering ram now or crushing weight for small houses. :p

Heh, ya, I guess no more Dungeon Crawling for Lin eh? Her getting bigger is both a blessing and a curse I suppose. Going to Lesotho is a pretty good idea, but I know Aylaeth would be pretty bummed to miss the chance to revisit her home town and all. But we do have to stop at Izmir anyway, yes? To pick up Keythan, as I think I recall that's where he is. Anyway though, like I said, there's a good chance Damian and the gang will be able to teleport back to Stormfare soon, perhaps even by the next afternoon.

What time is it in Stormfare right now by the way DRA?

Oh and her, DRA, we had briefly discussed this a while back, but will Damian and I still be able to upgrade Keythan and Tora'an so they will be able to continue to be at least significant in a fight, instead of a liability? I believe we had been saying they could use the animal companion progression? But I am not 100% sure about that.

So I'm in the thinking stage of writing how Maiathreen and Servais met...its not going so well yet. Tentatively set during their escape from their prison, since Servais would have seemed like a well made masterwork sword until wielded by someone it deemed worthy. If that's the way it goes I'll be writing their entire escape. Possibly involving their denial of sanctuary in Tuatha.
