I actually have an old d20 book that has a lot of rules on flying and air combat checks (It was all about airships, flying mounts and etc.), I will see if I can find it and post something for you to take a look at and take from it what you will.

Up to you though~

I didn't see any harm in it as of yet, so why change what we've been doing?

Yeah, keep that on standby, but thanks so much for bringing it up! Agree with you that, you know, so far so good, I think. I honestly mostly want to have it all in one place for my own reference, as well as sharing purposes. The PFR app on my phone is quick and all, but still. :-p

We'll get 'er all ironed out. Important thing, as far as I'm concerned, is that you guys have a blast playing. ^_^

Roger that DRA and good fight there Syl, you battered that last brute down nicely =D

I was merely there for a little pay back in the flanking department >B-) but it was short lived! XD

Now we can get down to business *evil laugh* where to go next~

Well.. once its our turn again. ~.^

Male Human Battle Herald 11

I feel a tad dirty with the charge attacks. In the space of two rounds (possibly for the cost of a Hero Point and an AOO), Damian charged a red dragon twice and dealt a total of 162 damage from Damain plus 22 damage from Keythan.

Of course, the dragon could probably drop him in an equal amount of time if full attacking. It hits Damian on anything but a 1 (which would also hit if it weren't an auto-miss). I hope he killed it, because the dragon's likely going to make it a priority to kill Damian ASAP.

Damian's a bit of a glass cannon.

Male DraRid 9 - HP 66/66 AC 23, T 14, Flat 19 - F+7 R+10 W+6 Init +4; Senses: Superior Low-Light Vision (X4), Darkvision 60ft; Per +14

@DamianLol charging is what a Cavalier does, although having to focus each round is a pain, this is still a lot of fun =)

But don't apologize for what your class was bred to do lol =) At least SOMEONE is dishing out some damage, that red tore me and my poor dragon up in close combat. So don't feel bad even with spells increasing my dragons AC he still needed to roll less then a 6 to miss. He needed to roll a 1 to miss Min XD!

Also your giving me some really good idea's for a revamp i'm doing on dragonrider. =)

@DRA Just to give you a heads up, i'm going to be out at a Doctor's appointment with my wife for most of the day. Sorry if I cause a slow down or anything :( . So if you don't mine DMnpcing me I would appreciate it.

@Min: no worries, thanks for the heads-up!

@Damian: Those were some bodacious charges. If there was ever a time to land to giant haymakers like that in a row, that was the time!

Allo All!

Hope you don't mind my sneaking in here DRA, [stealth] fail! [/stealth] but while our game is in a bit of a lull I couldn't resist a peek at this one. ( And besides, Jorzan does have a somewhat vested interest in Izmir after all... ; )

And so, having read all the IR of your guys game, I just gotta say...WOW!!

Holy Crap that was an Epic Fight! And it was Very well written and played by all (but, you know, not as well done as our game, of course, yet still very very enjoyable...hee hee : ).

It was a great read and I thank you all muchly.

DM DRA, if you don't want anyone cross-reading games, no problem at all, just let me (us) know. Otherwise though, I look very forward to reading more of your guys stuff!

Male Human Battle Herald 11

Funny, I checked out your game, and I think ours is better. Nyahhhh!

Waiting on DRA to update ours, Damian is mid-conversation with some important exposition.

Jorzan! Hey man, no worries at all! I have no problem at all with people reading cross-thread, as long as you don't use it to meta-game. :-p Thanks so much for the kind words, much appreciated. ^_^ You guys are the ones that make the game great, though, seriously. I just built the playground, you make the swings move.

And yeah, weekends are always a bit post-light for me, but I have everyone caught up now, and things will once again be rocketing along. Hang tight!

@Min: Got your message, man, thanks for the heads-up re: posting frequency. 16-hour days are no fun, hang in there.

@DRA:Yeah its no fun working this much, but it does pay the bills of course. lol I'm looking into a different job up where I work. Less hours, more pay and benefits. But it takes like 6 months to get processed.... Also signed up for college so this year is gonna be a busy one. xD I will make sure you know first if i'm unable to post or some such.

Looking forward to this next step in the adventure, although I feel like we are flying towards a mushroom cloud of doom... Scary! xD

Seriously. You have NO idea. You're actually heading straight for one of my IRL groups. You're witnessing the result of their combat, and are about to cross stories with them. :-D

I didn't realize lol I try not to look at the other groups, just because I don't want to spoil anything for myself when I actually meet the guys ninja in on the thread. Although the ukulele thing made me peek once, it was too funny to resist!

Male

Our group has a Zen Archer looking to avenge his fallen master, a fighter looking to avenge the noble who snacked on his one true love, an Oracle who's haunted and drinks to keep the visions away, and an orphaned thief/magical experiment ShadowDancer.

I think you can make a case that Justahl and Karthan are the only two people who aren't driven by some mad compulsion. (And Justahl's a Paladin of Iomedae, so he's compelled...)

Someone's gotta have a sense of humor. It might as well be the pyromaniac Fire sorcerer. :)

LOL. Awesome AdAstra, love the way you describe our game too. Legacy of Marianasu may be more 'Epic' and ‘Flashy’ what with the large flying mounts and grand palaces and all, and huge Epic Artifact quest and all, but I think our game has a bit more…depth? (and can’t think of the other word I’m looking for…darn it. Kinda 'darkly intricate'?) on a more personal level. Anyway, that’s just atm and MHO. As I said, I’m loving both, both games and story lines totally work and I can’t wait till we meet up! Game On!

Top 32? I don't know what that is. If this is a thing for congratulations, though, then congratulations! :-) And regardless, thanks for the heads-up.

Female Dragonrider 4/ Paladin of Sarenrae 3

He made the Top 32 for RPG SuperStar. Congratulations, my friend! I would have entered but college demands too much of me.

As for depth, you really have no idea where this rabbit hole goes - where you're in the nitty-gritty, we're the polar opposite. Think not of competition, but two different sides of the same coin - we both have our uses...

Yes, 'Depth' was not really the word I was looking for...still don't have it in mind. And no no, no competition! That bit was just a little fun jab. ; ) As I've said, both games are supremely entertaining in their own ways and I am thoroughly enjoying both of them. And both teams definitely and obviously have their purpose and function.

Finally, just have to say here that the scope (and Depth! ; ) of your creation here DRA, the incredible detail of your world (or Park : ), and the, at least to me, incredibly novel idea of combining both IRA games and PbP games simply blows me away. What an undertaking for you! Hopefully you're independently wealthy and thus have the immense amount of time it must surely take to do all of this. Because frankly, I can't imagine how you are doing what you are doing So well!

And Isaac! Congratulations mate! I hadn't even realized the Superstar had begun again. Loved your item. It would definitely be one I would pick up for a PC, (especially Jorzan!). With the improvements and suggestions the judges it could become a fantastic item. I'll be following your efforts from here on in and I wish you the very best of luck!

Well, at least you can talk to yours.

I'm a Paladin and I seem to be choked out of my divine link to her - must be all the Iomedae men around me... and the lack of women.

Very strange to see my real name on the Internet. One of the pages is named Isaac in the thread, which was weird enough.

Ach, you humble me, sir, thank you very much! ^_^ I'm just glad you're having fun, and hope everyone else is. Just think, your missions are only just starting now. This has all been warm-up so far. :-D

So, guys, now that you're leaving the embattled city of Izmir, what's your flying order going to be? We have some pretty disparate fly speeds here, with the Griffin only clocking in at Fly 80 compared to the much faster dragons.

Dolo, how fast is your Eidolon?

With whom is Belsarious riding?

DM Downrightamazed wrote:

Glorfindel clocks in with a mere 60' fly speed but GOOD maneuverability. Hasted jumps him to 90' ;p

Or...you could "gift" me with a magic item that gives constant expeditious retreat that doesn't stack with Haste and I would be better able to keep up. :D

Glor is also only a medium sized beastie so no piggy-back for Bel. Sorry dude.

I suggest a loose diamond formation as follows:

Griffon

Dragon...........Dragon

Eidolon

Ha! I like having the different fly rates, actually, it allows for the Dragons to function as outriders.

Okay, just put up a "detail" close-in map chunk with the following info:
Yellow Circle = where you are now; Izmir.
Blue Star closest to you = roughly where the blast of arcance energy emanated from. That's a week's travel or so for your group, over 400 hundred miles away, which gives you an idea of how massive that thing was.
Blue Star way south of you = roughly where the monk and his companions should be, the ones who are in possession of four(!) of the Abominations right now.

Also, Dolo, something to note; in addition to the libraries in Stormfare and Lesotho, Mamban will be a good place to collect knowledge, and there is a very famous library in Choban-La, in the desert of Rass-La, which you would know that Choban-La was once Chobansynyankh, the greatest Necropolis in the Land and one of the three great Telestari cities. So once you've gone after the items before you, these are all possible research centers.

Belsarious can ride with Min and Lin since she is a large creature =) and can effectively hold 2 people of medium size although I will have to check my encumbrance table. Although the dragon can fly while in heavy encumbrance and be unaffected.

+1 with the Diamond formation idea

Lin only clocks in at 30ft fly spd and 30ft normal speed. When I first created this character I tried to find a suitable feat but Fleet wasn't forth a feat for a dragon so I was out of luck in increasing her speed.

Female Dragonrider 4/ Paladin of Sarenrae 3

By the way - the griffon is the fastest of us all here. My white's only fly 50, and I believe Min's silver is 30 or 50, don't recall atm.

Also, due to the rules for dragons, Bel cannot ride on Ansrithar's back either - would take you if I could.

EDIT: Ninjaed. Teaches me to preview too early.

Male Human Battle Herald 11

Damian can take the front spot. He would, I think, insist on it.

Thanks for the speed updates Min and Syl, I keep forgetting it's different for dragons-as-mounts. This means getting to the nearest blue star on that map fragment is gonna be more like two weeks, allowing for proper rest and such.

Assuming you all are ready, you'll be fighting your way out of the city tomorrow. :-) If you could all make sure your current HP totals are correct in your profiles that would be great.

Spellcasters, pick your buffs. You'll have ample time to apply them before you leave.

Now if you'll excuse me I have some enemy combatants to prep. >:-D

Male DraRid 9 - HP 66/66 AC 23, T 14, Flat 19 - F+7 R+10 W+6 Init +4; Senses: Superior Low-Light Vision (X4), Darkvision 60ft; Per +14

The only buffs I have are shield on Lin and Min lol! True strike is a little useful to cast since it lasts all of 6 seeconds ;).

Potion of cure light wounds, 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Lin is at full Hp~ with that =)

Male Elf Witch 5 / Ranger 1/ Eldritch Knight 5

OK Dolo and I have to divy up potions etc, and I have to figure out who I can hitchhike with since the flight hex is limited, I would say Dolo but that puts both casters in one place.....

I also have some pilum that whomever can use should we face a foe with a shield at range..........

I presumed and added the wand to my sheet, leaving potions to be figured out.......

Belsarious you basically have to ride with Min, it turns out, since Lin is the only flyer large enough to carry you. And yeah, potion distribution can happen whenever/however. Min has some, as well.

Male DraRid 9 - HP 66/66 AC 23, T 14, Flat 19 - F+7 R+10 W+6 Init +4; Senses: Superior Low-Light Vision (X4), Darkvision 60ft; Per +14

Indeed! The witch doesn't have to hitch hike ;)

Potions I've got in my possession~
1x Cure Light Wounds
2x Invisibility

Semi Useful items~
Campfire Bead - Magical - Handy!
Smelling Salts - Can help wake up characters driven into negative hit points. Its a fairly neat item~

If anything doesn't jive well with the setting I will remove it promptly DRA. :)

Those items are all fine, Min. I only draw the line if things get too...clockworky, if you know what I mean. Like even the Alchemical Golem is pushing it a little far for me. The Explored Land wasn't created with steampunk in mind. Not that I have any problem with steampunk, that's just not this land. So but so yeah, what you've got here is totally cool.

If my plan works you should be attacking the creature followed by my slumber hex, followed by your second attack, on a slumbering foe....

Can we DMPC her instead? Losing an attack with only 5 of us vs. a superior number may hurt.

Also, DM is on fire rolling Saving Throws! Ouch!

I know, right?! Holy crap! Now watch; in the games where I'm a player I'll roll all ones and twos. :-p

Syl's plan seems to be to take Captain Coyne at his word and continue rocketing towards the mountains, so I'll take that as her action. Unfortunately, the Marrashi are not slow, so they'll keep up with her.

Syl, I'm gonna move you to the side of the board with your pursuers so I don't have to stretch out the google spreadsheet to ridiculous lengths.

I gotta say, too; the combo of Dolo/Glorfindel is brutally effective once you guys get your mojo working. I had my doubts, but holy mackerel.

Fair enough - she draws some of them away, which will help the overall matchup stay even. That means Captain/Barcus is up!

One of the hidden gems of some of the new base classes is, despite their limited spell selection, they get access to spells a full level sooner than most other casters. Haste for summoner, enthrall for witch, etc.

I've been dying to play a summoner at this level but in the many games I have been in, it is either very low level or it dies the PbP death as is common.

Thanks for the words and the opportunity. I am loving this game!
