How much do we have in coin to buy items?

Thorek Ironspark |

I think Lily was working on updating the loot doc, Cyrioul was handling that but we lost him right after the Ironfang forward base encounter

Thorek Ironspark |

I won't speak for everyone but I don't think I, personally, have the bandwidth for it right now.
Thorek's Level Up: Warpriest8
+1 BAB, +8hp, +1 skill for FCB
Fort & Will get +1
Additional 2nd & 3rd level spells
I was mistaken about this being a big boost level for Thorek; I thought Warpriests get Greater Blessing at Lvl8 but actually it's Level10--when they also get 4th level spells, so actually it's two more levels until things get extra awesome. At that point I'll also be eligible for the Quicken Blessing feat.

Esperanza de la Hueca |

Don't sell yourself short, Thorek, you get an iterative attack now!
This is a big level for me, since I get my first tier abilities for Artistic Flourish and Harmonious Strike, the two main features of Devoted Muse.
Numbers wise: +1 BAB, +7 hp, +3 skills (1 into Bluff, 1 into Stealth, 1 into Intimidate)
+1 dodge bonus to AC
+1 to Charisma
Fort and Will get +1
No spells!!! Ever!!

Lily Moore |

I'm sorry I've been battling migraines on and off this entire week. Also, this level gets odd for Lily. I'll explain it more once I update her sheet.l

Gaius Numida |

4th level spells here :) Arcane Eye and Dimension Door. You know, so we can spy on a location, buff, then tactically teleport to exactly where we want to be ;) Otherwise, just another boatload of skills for me!
Once we get the loot list up, Gaius will be able to take some orders for some magical crafting :) Obviously as time permits.

Esperanza de la Hueca |

Sorry you haven't been feeling well, Lily, but I hope you feel better soon!

Undari the Healer |

Undari picked up an iterative attack, a +1 to Constitution score, and an improvement in Wild Shape (now can use Diminutive to Huge animal forms and small or medium elemental or plant forms). He also put a rank in Linguistics to learn Sylvan and improved his skills somewhat. No new spell levels, but more spells of the levels he has.

Thorek Ironspark |

OH RIGHT, I completely forgot about the stat increase!
Thorek will take, hmm...Thorek will bump his Str to 17

Undari the Healer |

I plan to upload a new character sheet once we get the loot settled and do our purchases. What are the rules for prices and what is available?

Lily Moore |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I'm going to work on getting loot done tomorrow. I didn't realize that the sheet wasn't being updated for a while and we have a decent chunk of stuff I need to go through.
As for Lily she is taking one level of Swashbuckler to grant everyone Improved Feint Partner as a standard action.

Esperanza de la Hueca |

thanks, i love it

DM Vayelan |

What are the rules for prices and what is available?
Novvi the traveling svirfneblin merchant relies on a bag of holding sewn into her jacket and a handy haversack to transport her goods. She functions as a village market, readily offering anything worth up to 500gp and buying up to 2500gp worth of goods each visit. However, this purchase limit does not preclude potential bartering.
She usually brings along an assortment of magical items for sale, but there is no telling what her present stock will be.
She can exchange copper and silver for gold, and she also deals in slender gold trade bars worth 100gp each.
She can also be commissioned to travel and acquire specific items, such as how Thorek got his Kraggodan-forged plate armor.

Thorek Ironspark |

If it would be easier, Vayelan, I can make some time to resolve the current loot situation over the weekend--though I really would prefer someone else take over the duty long-term.

DM Vayelan |

My initial thought was to create a new loot spreadsheet to document the treasure recovered over the course of this book, then go back and incorporate items and wealth from the previous iteration of the spreadsheet. Admittedly, the prospect of navigating Cyrioul's old system is a little daunting, hence why my instinct was to start fresh.

DM Vayelan |

I'm also reminded that I should create an updated NPC tracker.
Herge the wood giant provides a discount on retraining NPCs, although I think they can only take PC classes if they're taken on as a cohort.
This also reminded me how NPCs can have their existing levels increased using "promotions" that the party earns. Of course, I'm not sure if Book 2 and onward supports this mechanic that was introduced in Book 1.

Undari the Healer |

I would be happy for you to take on the loot tracking if you would, DM Vayelan. I have done it for other campaigns on occasion, but I would have to totally re-do what came before as well.

Esperanza de la Hueca |

Additionally, I will also say that this blighted pixie - who was called Malignant Nolly - is NOT the one who collapsed the highland trail to slow you down. There is still someone else out in the forest besides the Ironfangs who does not like you.
i have, at this very moment, 6 months later, finally put 2 and 2 together

Yeah, Thorek's in-game indignation was pretty justified. When the party encounters the wood giant, he just uses Sleep Arrows to convince the party to replant the trees he thinks they burned down. Longfrond, on the other hand, unleashes waves of owlbears and other dangers on the party. Granted that she thought the "enemy" she was fighting against was one-and-the-same with the Ironfang Legion, but it's still a bit much to forgive.

I've started a new loot spreadsheet, documenting the party's finds from this book: here is the link for what I have so far.
Feedback is welcome. I can add a link at the top of the campaign page if you guys think it will be functional.

Undari the Healer |

Thank you!
Undari has, I believe, already laid claim to the Druid's Vestments and the Polymorphic Pouch. Given his low Charisma, the wand of Charm Animal would be a good choice for him as well if no one else wants it.
In my opinion, we should use the nonmagical weapons and armor that we don't want personally to equip our militia units, with magical weapons and armor first going to party members. I could go either way on selling the magic arms and armor to get what we want from the trader, or just using it to equip leaders of the militia units if appropriate...
What do you guys think?

Esperanza de la Hueca |

Thank you so much, Vayelan! I am busy for most of today but I'm happy to go through and put GP values on everything.

Esperanza de la Hueca |

Vayelan, the sheet lists an amulet of mighty fists that was worn by Ibzairiak, but I can't find a mention of it in the thread (other than him casting darkness on an amulet he was wearing). Would you be able to tell us its enhancement value and/or any abilities it has?

Thorek Ironspark |

Just to get some of the bookkeeping out of the way: Thorek's priorities are a Cloak of Resistance +2 and upgrading his dorn-dergar with the Impact enchantment.
@GM, given that Cyrioul was intending to focus on crafting iirc would we be able to use him to alleviate some of the bottleneck around waiting for Novvi?

Esperanza de la Hueca |

Okay, priced and added up all the items on the sheet. There were a few things I couldn't find prices for, though I expect the amulet of mighty fists is the only one with a significant price tag (unless the gardening shears are made of weapons grade plutonium or something). The total value of the loot we've recovered from Forts Nunder and Trevalay (along with the chimera lair) comes to 115,267.2 gp.
If I know something was already claimed by someone, I have zeroed its value out and noted who possesses it in the Action column (along with the value of the item). I zeroed them out so that they aren't counted when considering the value of the items we can sell.
Gaius, there are a couple wands that I know you have but I'm not sure how many charges are left on them. When you get a minute, please check the Fort Nunder sheet and see if the charges marked there are accurate or not. :)
A lot of the value will go toward outfitting our militia, and we certainly can't liquidate the whole bunch at once, but we're not doing too bad!

DM Vayelan |

@Esperanza: The Amulet of Mighty Fists was a magic item worn by Ibzairiak. While reviewing the spoils from this book, I realized I forgot to mention it when you slew the dragon. However, given the little post mortem performed on the body when trying to slip Cirieo and Flopsy past the korreds, it seemed guaranteed that the party would have recovered it.
The AP book actually seems to neglect to specify the amulet's modifier, so I've corrected the loot sheet to document it as a +1.
@Thorek: That sounds like a good idea. Sure thing.

Esperanza de la Hueca |

Very cool! That could go to either Undari or me, since we both have (or can get) multiple natural attacks. It's probably of more use to Undari since I primarily rely on my glaive, with my claws just being a backup.

Undari the Healer |

That would be nice, especially since he can now take huge animal forms.

Esperanza de la Hueca |

Just don't be surprised if I ask you for the occasional greater magic fang. :)

Thorek Ironspark |

THANK YOU Esperanza for tallying all of that up! That would come to 23,053gp and 4sp per party member as an even split.
Thorek would want the +1 shock bastard sword as a backup weapon and the +1 adaptive composite longbow as a tertiary ranged weapon. He'll sell the mswk heavy shield and the mswk scimitar. Upgrading the cloak to +2 and the dorn-dergar with Impact would cost 9,000gp and pretty much uses up his share of the haul.
I'm assuming resettling Fort Trevalay would take a few days, maybe another full week/militia turn?

Undari the Healer |

...and perhaps Strong Jaw

Unless there's more than one +1 Adaptive Longbow that's Lily's weapon upgrade. According to my notes Lily has a
+1 Adaptive Longbow+1 Chainshirt
+2 Amulet of Natural Armor
+1 Ring of Protection
She also used all the dragon bane arrows to good effect.
Edit
The dragon bane arrows aren't on that list???
Edit:
You can split my share of the haul. I'm not too worries about having upgrades just yet because I'm going having you all attack in my stead.

Thorek Ironspark |

Gotcha re: the adaptive longbow, will start upping her Str for it?
Thorek will take one of the regular +3Str composite bows instead then.

Lily Moore |

Gotcha re: the adaptive longbow, will start upping her Str for it?
Thorek will take one of the regular +3Str composite bows instead then.
How about this you get the adaptive Longbow and I buy a +1 normal longbow? The range is irrelevant given my abilities only work at 30 ft range increments.

Thorek Ironspark |

Nah feel free to keep it, if in a level or two a different magic bow comes along that you want, Thorek is okay getting it then. Right now his Str bonus is +3 so he hasn't outgrown the composite bow yet :)

Undari the Healer |

Okay, so summary for Undari:
Druid's Vestments (worth 3750 gp)
Polymorphic Pouch (worth 5000 gp)
Amulet of Mighty Fists (worth 4000 gp)
Wand of Charm Animals, 27 charges (worth 405 gp)
I need to know how many downtime days we will have so he can make his poultices.
Items of interest for purchase/enchantment:
Anything that buffs wisdom (secondarily strength): +2 for 4000 gp
Adding "Wild" to his armor (+3 equivalent bonus): 14000 gp
Enchanting his shield to +1, Wild: 16,000 gp
-> Not sure how we are going to decide how much coin we have for purchases & upgrading items -- especially if we have someone to with the feats to enchant it at half cost.

Esperanza de la Hueca |

Sorry Lily, I think I just forgot that you had that bow. The dragonbane arrows are on the Fort Nunder sheet, but I zeroed them out since all of them were used. I've updated the list to account for the things you corrected me on.
If Lily has one of the two +1 rings of protection, I think that leaves just me and Undari without them. Undari, I think you should probably take the other ring. Before buffs, my AC is as high as Thorek's now, and I'm sure we'll find/buy more rings.
My wish list: agile enchantment for my glaive (6000 gp value), and a +1 mithral chain shirt (2100 gp). There's other stuff but those would be my favorites.

Undari the Healer |

Thanks, Esperanza. I will add that to his sheet.
Do we have anyone who can enchant armor?

Gaius Numida |

Gaius can craft stuff too! I marked the relevant wands as Gaius' and fixed the charge numbers for the wands he has been using.
What numbers have y'all been using to calculate how much you have leftover to spend?

Thorek Ironspark |

Sell price right? Not like we'd have more money if we just sold the item anyway, so I'm not sure why it would count double against your share.

Gaius Numida |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

By my count, Gaius has 5530gp worth of the items on the list (including the acid arrow wand). That gives him 17523.4gp to spend, nice!
Crafting Goals:
Flute of Building (13000/6500gp crafted), DC 16 (no fabricate spell)
+2 int headband (4000/2000gp crafted), DC 18 (no fox's cunning spell)
He can't fail any of the checks, so if I've read the rules right, number of days is his only constraint. Again, assuming I've understood everything, it'll take 13 days to make the flute and 4 days for the headband. It also looks like Gaius has the option to up the DC by 5 (which he can still make by taking ten), to craft on the go, only using 4 hours of each day. Flopsy will help of course :)

Esperanza de la Hueca |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

You can also bump the DC up by 5 to double the speed at which you work.
Before everyone gets too excited, I do want to point out that the value I posted is the total value, not the sell value. Rolling everything together (before subtracting the value of what has been claimed from what we can get through selling) gets us a total of 164,702.2. The sale value of all that is 85,281.5, which comes out to 17,056.3 per person (after you roll in the currency and trade goods we already have). I welcome checking of my math but I think that's the number you should subtract the value of for any items you're claiming.
Adding up the value of the things I have, all my gear together is 13,483 gp. 8,000 of that value comes from the headband and belt, which reduces my gold share by 4000. So that leaves me with 13,056.3.
Was Cyrioul going to be getting Craft Magic Arms and Armor? Like I mentioned, I want to get my weapon enhanced but I'm not sure about sending it off for a week or more to get it worked on.

Undari the Healer |

So, if I math correctly, the sell value of the items I claimed is
(3750 + 5000 + 4000 + 405)/2 = 6577.5
Subtract that from 17056.3, and I get 10478.8 gp.
Adding "Wild" to the armor so he can be somewhat effective in close combat wild shaped is 7000 gp crafting and 14 days elapsed time (unless accelerated).
Getting a Headband of +2 Wisdom is 2000 gp crafting and 4 days elapsed time (unless accelerated).
Getting his shield enchanted to +1 is 500 gp crafting and 1 day elapsed time (unless accelerated).
Given our lack of downtime, I expect Undari would have to leave his armor behind to get enchanted, so we would have to consider how to handle that...

Esperanza de la Hueca |

Would you consider Swashbuckler Weapon Training to qualify as the Weapon Training class feature for Gloves of Dueling? I don't think I'll be getting it any time soon but they seem neat.
So, the plan for my share of the loot:
1) Agile glaive! (6000 gp or 3000+6 days of work)
2) +1 Mithral chain shirt (2100 gp or 1600+1 day of work)
3) Ring of protection +1 (1000 gp and 2 days of work)
4) Upgrading my cloak of resistance to +2 (1500 gp and 3 days of work)
Either 10,600 gp and 5 days of work, or 7,100 gp and 12 days of work. Plus however long it takes our merchant to make a round trip. Leaves me with some spare money that I'm not sure what to spend on.

To quote Judge Mills Lane: I'll allow it!
Also, now that the party will be spending greater amounts of money, Novvi will increase the frequency of her visits to once a week since you are now her best customers.

Thorek Ironspark |

Alright so with 17,056gp as the new base share the sword's sell price of 4,167gp and the composite longbow's sell price of 600gp leaves him with 12,288gp
That's enough to still get his Cloak of Resistance and Dorn-dergar upgraded, with 3,912gp left over after selling the scimitar & shield. That means Thorek could also upgrade his full plate armor to +1 status and also buy a cracked Dusty Rose Prism Ioun Stone!
Buy List:
Dorn Dergar upgrade (+1 to +1 impact)
Cloak of Resistance upgrade (+1 to +2)
Full plate upgrade (mswk to +1)
Cracked Dusty Rose Prism Ioun Stone
Note: these numbers assume Thorek is paying full price instead of crafting at-cost, if that's not correct please let me know! I'll get the armor upgraded to +1 spell-storing full plate instead :)
Leaving 2,412gp left over!
