Actually, Lily, if you want the Amulet of Natural Armor +2 as well that'd bring your AC to a respectable 21, right? Go ahead and take that too, and Thorek will pick something up further down the line. He's not hurting for anything right now.

Although you march to an unknown fate to battle an enraged dragon and rescue fey that may not even appreciate your help, you have already dealt a devastating blow to the Ironfang Legion.
With your decisive victory at Trevalay, all three forts have now been wrenched from the Legion's control, leaving the Chernasardo liberated of their influence. Even without the aid of the rangers or hidden supply caches, you have newfound strength and your unwavering comrades to rely upon.
Welcome to Level 7!
As a reminder, for HP, you take the HD's average, rounded up.

Woo! Time for my first level in Devoted Muse! For the most part, this isn't too different from another level of Swashbuckler, but I do get to start adding Charisma to my AC as a dodge bonus. So that's pretty nice.
Also taking Combat Reflexes so my AoOs per round go from 1 to 6. Any hob trying to run around me or Thorek is in for a bad time.
After this level, though, I start to get all kinds of debuffs I can start putting on enemies, like giving everyone concealment against the target, even if they have blindsight.

Undari the Healer |

Undari gains fourth level spell slots (nothing prepared in them, as of yet). He also can make his magic herbalism concoctions in 1 minute each, so that will go much more quickly. In theory, with the right expensive oils, he can cast Reincarnate, so that could be interesting...

Gaius Numida |

Woo! :D Will edit this post later with a quick change log.
EDIT: Easy level! Every tier of spells got another slot prepared, one extra 3rd level cast per day, and he is ready for an improved familiar when he finds the right little buddy :D

Thorek Ironspark |

Nothing crazy for Thorek at Lvl7 (next level is a big one!) but plenty of nice bonuses. Increase to BAB, took Weapon Specialization to boost damage with the dorn-dergar, and third level spells! Also beginning Sacred Armor

(These are Ironskin poultices at level 7, so they should give +5 natural armor--see errata--but might be a +4 as depending on which math you believe).
i really, really love this feature

Finally updated my character. There should be links to everything. If a link doesn't work tell me. As for leveling up I gain dispel magic, shadow enchantment, and a weird psuedoiterative if I successfully hit an opponent I feinted.

Undari the Healer |

Do we have a map yet so we can see if there is a good place for us to lure the dragon into a confined space?

DM Vayelan |

@Undari: I have already updated the map. I just changed the link title at the top to better clarify this.
@Lily: Using the +1 dragon-bane arrows with your +1 bow, when firing upon the dragon, I believe your total weapon bonus would be +4 (1 for bow enchantment, 1 for arrow enchantment, 2 for bane property) and your damage bonus would be +2d6+4.

Thorek Ironspark |

The arrow and bow enchantments don't stack normally, but I'm down with it if we want to house rule that!

DM Vayelan |

I was doing some research last night to figure out whether the bonuses stacked, and I found myself a bit confused by what I found.
Thank you for the more succinct clarification, Thorek.
I don't think we need to house rule this. Using the arrows against Ibzairiak will already give a +3 bonus to hit and +2d6+3 damage because of how their enhancement is boosted against dragons. That should be enough.

Undari the Healer |

Well, it would have been a good plan...

Thorek Ironspark |

I'm thinking that the plan is still sound, carnivorous pitcher-plant thingy notwitstanding. We'll stick to cover inside the fort, rely on Lily, Gaius, & Undari for ranged attacks and try to get Thorek/Esperanza in melee somehow. Can't stay in the open!

Gaius recognizes the plant as a Basidirond, a fungus that feeds upon mineral-rich soil, often by fertilizing it with the fresh blood of creatures it ambushes. The creature's spores are perhaps the most important thing to watch out for.
OOC, the fey who was leading the Red Rock Revel at the fort lured the basidirond to the front gates to guard the place while the fey partied. The fey never actually used the front gates much because the iron bands on the doors made them uncomfortable.
This has come to bite everyone in the rear, since the feys' would-be rescuers have now run afoul of the basidirond.

Are we on round two or three? I just want to make sure that I'm not jumping too far ahead. That's what she's going to do next turn regardless.
Also, in case your wondering Burst of Adrenaline says and d20 based Constitution, Strength, or Dexterity roll. It's a weird spell

This is the third round of combat we are finishing up, not counting the surprise round when Undari brought down his first bolt of lightning.

@GM I don't know if there's something special at work, but Thorek does have Darkvision so the dragon wouldn't have concealment in anything less than supernatural darkness.

You are correct. Thank you for pointing this out.
I mistakenly thought the Darkness spell counted as supernatural darkness.Unfortunately, your axe throw would have failed to meet the dragon's AC by 1, so it scratches the dragon's scales without causing harm.

Thorek Ironspark |

Aw bummer. Found the AC at least!
IIRC 3.5 Darkness did cause supernatural darkness from the get-go.

Gaius Numida |

Just zoomed in on the dragon's picture. That is a messed up dragon. Geez, it looks like its own acid melted its face a little!

His broken and poorly-healed jaw, as well as the many scars along his body, are mementos from a 30-strong band of trophy hunters called the Griffon's Sons that came after him about 15 years ago. The few survivors of that band spread stories of the dragon's cruelty. They also gave rise to his nickname, "the Scar-Maker," because of the acid burns he inflicted upon them. In fact, Ibzairiak hounded them for 3 days before they reached civilization just to torture and scar them further.

That's a very badass backstory. Dragon vs a gang of 30, damn...we're about 24 short *laughs nervously*

That's why I wanted to share the backstory with you guys, even if out of character.
On one hand, it lays bare the formidible odds against you. On the other hand, it will also make your potential victory all the more heroic.

Thorek Ironspark |

Nah, Thorek can get to the top and it'll be a (perhaps frustrating!) surprise :)

Gaius Numida |

Lily, doesn't the dragon only have a 20% concealment? So shouldn't anything above a 21 on your percentile be a hit, or am I missing something?

DM Vayelan |

This is correct, but her attack rolls haven't hit the dragon's AC yet.
Tragically, the only time she didn't beat the concealment was when she rolled the Nat 20.
Thorek Ironspark |

Also, I should have stated it in my statblock (I'll add it to active conditions) but Thorek's is currently AC28 between the Ironskin poultice and Shield of Faith

Thorek Ironspark |

A friend of mine likes to call that the "parabola of destruction" lol

Undari the Healer |

Double 20’s to hit and triple 8’s on the damage roll? Amazing!

Esperanza de la Hueca |

holy crap

I can't remember if I've mentioned this before, but I keep links to Fey related posts on Gaius' profile. Now that I've referenced them at least once, I thought it would be good to make sure y'all knew too!
On Gaius' profile, he has a "Fey Compendium" spoiler that links back to all the GM's posts about Fey. Feel free to use it as needed, it would be flavored as Gaius referencing/sharing his notes with y'all, which he would simply adore :)
