Wow, comparing Mikka's welcome to Cyan's she's kind of offended. lol
Poor Mikka!
Cyanne offers a hug.
I think that part of it may be manner of arrival. We were dragged in by a magic carpet, introduced by people Caramir knew, and then wound up healing people.
That, and everyone's tired of being suspicious and just want help from the monsters.
Mikka, have you figured out whether you know Cyanne yet? I did actually work your druids into my family background in a recent post, Druid Ex Machina.
Cyanne Miller
So then I should recognize you.
No wonder Mikka is offended! Cyanne comes in on a flying carpet, gets a friendly reception and didn't recognize Mikka?
Oh, for shame Cyanne! Where are your manners?
I didn't know until now that I knew you, but now that I do know, I feel I should have known you immediately!
Cyanne Miller
Let me see if I can fix that a little today, Mikka, when I suddenly recognize you.
As I clearly should have... all along!

Offended? Mikka might think the group had a higher estimation of her capabilities, taking care of herself in the woods, than the two who needed an armed escort and transporting. :)
Caramir
lol. friendly reception? The same dude that interrogated me bowed to you.
I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you mean Caramir? He did have his reasons to act like he did, and I'm available to discuss them with Mikka IC, if she so desires ;)
OOC, I'll just say Caramir posed ONE single question when he met Mikka - hardly an interrogation.
Cyanne Miller
Caramir, watch what you ask for...
I've already had my in-character pouty face moment concerning you...
I can't wait to see Mikka's if she decides to do one. But first Mikka has to decide how she handles exuberant hugs from barely grown girls she hardly knows.
Cyanne Miller
Trux, is it okay if everyone does their campfire watch conversations simultaneously, so I don't hold up gameplay with the long one I'm doing with Caramir? Or do you need us to go in order?
Cyanne Miller
Happy International GM Day, Trux!
Everyone else, I have been enjoying the fireside chats during your watches. There's been some great conversations to read.
Hugs,
Cyanne

Just so you all know, First Watch has concluded its conversation.
Very nicely done, Caramir! That was simply lovely.

Advice on camp site, from someone who doesn't do much camping. Take what would make sense. I'm just putting them here to get the list going.
The back of the camp is against a large fallen tree that provides cover from that direction.
Were able to gather a fair number of dry branches that we could use for the fire. A couple of the straighter ones were set aside so we could ignite the ends and use them as flaming spears / staves / improvised weapons igniting them in the camp fire.
Some sort of natural hazard (thorn bushes?) making it more difficult to approach silently.
A large rock that we could stand on and see a distance while on watch.
I would say slightly off the game trail -- we don't want someplace that nocturnal hunters would stalk. We don't need a source of fresh water, Kakao would tell people he can create it.

I hadn't thought of it last night, but a dry gulley / stream bed is a terrain feature that Cyanne has been asking for. In terms of defense, they would be coming over difficult terrain (up the sides of the stream bed) while we would be gaining +1 for higher ground. Cyanne would allow us to retreat over the stream bed if needed.
This is assuming the gully / stream bed is deep enough to make a tactical difference.
Cyanne Miller
Cyanne definitely wants a natural pit or crevasse, though a stream bed would do. Slowing this thing down by luring it into difficult terrain or a full out pit would be Cyanne's idea of a good time. She wants to gain the elevation advantage for her team, whether by hanging a bridge between trees for the archers, or dropping the Hollowman if she can drop him.

Slightly off perhaps, but close to. Darkvision/earshot range, 50 feetish. We don't want to get tripped over by every coyote on the stalk, but we want to be near enough the trail that we can intercept anything marauding its way towards the village.

Guys... I'm not sure... Entangle? I have a feeling the Hollow Man will just waltz unimpeded through it. He was never slowed by vegetation before.
I can't explain IC, so I'll do it here.
Woodland stride is the normal way to move through thick vegetation, and it has a specific exclusion against stuff that is magically enhanced. Even if the creature makes the saves, it is slowed because it is difficult terrain. Even if the strategy totally fails, the spell is dismissible.
Given all that, I thought it the best way to slow it down. I even positioned it to maximize the amount of time we would have to distract it.

I like how you add the little details to the map, Trux. I can tell exactly which bedroll is Kakao's by the size.
I assume the arrow indicates direction of the Hollow Man's travel.
If you saw an arrow while I was working FORGET IT. THIS I COMMAND.

I was referring to the white arrow that was part of the 'bleeding bear' (as in I think it started as a bear and someone put a lot of red around it). There was a little white arrow just below the bear going straight down.
Wouldn't it work better to do something like:
FNORD Forget the yellow arrow! FNORD
Um...I was going to put some sort of example there but forgot what it was.
Oh, and I had been away from the Paizo site for a while because it wasn't responding. Decided to watch some anime while waiting for it to come back.

Re: Cyanne
Then the bridge crosses the gully through the trees!
Sorry chief, that was the most bridge-like shape you gave me.
Further note: I'll be starting recruitment for a Jade Regent story this month. BARAKUS WILL ALWAYS HOUSE MY MOST MAIN HOMIES. One Love, y'all.
If any of you are absolutely desperate to try and explore the orient, please PM me regarding it. However, my first inclination is to find newish players to meet and share with.
Please note, there is no guarantee that any AP campaign concludes at the last published installment. Some positions are already reserved.

That's because I couldn't get the drawing tool to work... I couldn't get any lines after the first disastrous one! Bret can back me up on this one -- he heard the cursing (in elvish, or course) on my end.
But no problem. We'll go with it!
So okay, the bridge now goes through the trees -- giving party members a choice of high ground in the tree or continuing on to the ground on the other side!
Enjoy your Jade Regent Game. I'm oversubscribed, so I won't be applying. I'm busy enough with all the games I have now!
Morti Hearthstone
Dealing with sick kiddos at my house -- yay winter! :( -- so sorry for lagging posts at climactic point.
Jade Regent looks like fun, but my plate's full, and I'm already in Iron Gods with you.
Cyanne Miller
Cyanne is so glad that she gave Morti her alchemist's fire. That was excellent!
Everyone, what I do will next will depend on whether the hollow man stays in the entangle. If he does and the entangle stays up, I will just keep casting on guidance on Caramir (without actually getting on the bridge myself) so he keeps hitting with that bow of his.
If the Hollowman moves out, I will charge after him with my spear the moment the entangle drops.

Karl, I've placed five giant tokens around the campfire on the map. Please circle/otherwise let me know if any of them strikes your fancy for your character.
We can always change these up later if you guys want to draw your own or purchase others via roll20 marketplace.

Sorry my post got eaten and I'm not at my computer. I re post as soon as i am.
