DM Rickmeister |
Not exactly, common, but you'll figure that out. Nothing more, sadly. :(
Andre Xanderz |
Andres intent was to heal all allies and stabalize the prisoners. Sorry I didn't make that more clear and sorry I haven't been on sooner
Before healing his team Andre goes to each of the fallen prisoners and casts stabalize on them to ensure they do not die feom their wounds.
hopefully this will teach them to stay bound and not to cause trouble

Horatius Lartius |
Horatius walks back to the group with Halorn. Seeing the dwarfs grievous injuries and the dead goblins nearby he bows his head in salute.
"Well fought Master Halorn. Your prowess in battle is most impressive."
Beckoned over to Andre he kneels to receive the channelled healing of the sun god. Rising he says,
"I am honoured to receive the Redeemers light. Thank you."
As he speaks Horatius takes in the sight of the wounded goblins. Recognizing them as their charges he asks with concern in his voice,
"What happened here?"
Horatius Lartius |
Horatius looks more closely at the unconscious goblins.
T10 Heal for 15 if needed to notice their wounds
"Some of them appear to have been gravely wounded. Their attacks left no choice but to strike back then?"
Horatius Lartius |
Turning back from his inspection of the goblins a confused look upon his face.
"Do you mean to tell me that we attacked the unarmed goblins which we have been charged to bring safely to Trollheim at the order of the Chamberlain of the Pathfinder Society himself with lethal force? With no threat to ourselves?"
As he speaks the confusion on his faces fades and is replaced by one of disbelief.
Horatius Lartius |
"Hold master wizard. The specifics of your own actions are certainly important but in the end we bear the responsibility for our charges as a group." he says gesturing towards the goblins. "This discussion involves all of us.
Good try :)
Andre Xanderz |
Andre will walk up to Horatius
The charge was to bring them good palladin. Tell me if I am wrong but the law states that prisoners are not to escape. Therfor they have broken the law. The law further states that escapees should be caught with whatever means are necessary. I believe to have them escape and not deliver them would be worse than delivering them bruised o slightly scorched.
Shaking his head
You act as if these things are little children lost and we are but bringing them home. These are dangerous evil creatures and should not be taken lightly. You also seem to forget that a goblin does not need a great sword to do harm claws and teeth are enough.
Horatius Lartius |
Horatius replies calmly to Andres statements,
"Brother Xanderz I do not argue that these are not creatures of malice and chaos. Were they to achieve arms and attack us it might well be necessary to strike back in force. But I am not told that this is what happened."
"Our sole mission here is to deliver these prisoners alive to Trollheim. It is for this task that we have travelled over half a continent and now trek through one of the most unforgiving wildernesses known. If they manage to escape then indeed we must take action but killing them in the effort does us no good."
"As you say they are not children but none the less their continued health is our responsibility."
Yukie |
After confirming that Aiko is no longer injured, Yukie returns her attention to the conversation and steps forward. "I fear there has been a misunderstanding. I was close enough to hear them, and they did not intend to escape, but to join the fight. I believe this may have been a rival tribe of theirs."
She looks back to Aiko. "I must confess I sent Aiko to stop them, to prevent them from bringing further harm upon themselves and causing confusion. She is not yet trained to subdue by nonlethal means." Her head is bowed, her eyes closed and her voice genuinely regretful.
Tiasar |
Tiasar begins looking annoyed "They will recover, so I for one do not regret the pain of a goblin that would think nothing of killing us in their sleep. I do not intend to bring them direct pain since it's simply easier for me to incapacitate them, but do not expect me to pity them when one of our dwarven friends hits them over the head"
Jory Redcap |
Jory stands beside the cleric and squints at the paladin as if trying to see more clearly.
"While you abandoned our prisoners to let them run free, I kept them in sight and denied those poor, poor goblins their freedom. It appears I chose duty over amnesty
"
Jory looks around, "We get the prisoners secured to the horse and move on quickly. You can start the moral arguments when we are safely away from this battle site."
He speaks to Andre and his scowl changes to a smile, "Glad to have a first rate healer along. Knowing WHEN to heal, that is the trick."
Horatius Lartius |
Upon hearing about the goblins intent Horatius puts his fingers to his forehead and shakes his head.
"Goblins" he mutters to himself.
Hearing the sincerity of Yukies second statement he takes a deep breath and lets it out.
"It is not my intent to condemn the split second choices made in the heat of battle. I ask only that we keep the goal of our mission foremost in our minds and that we treat the prisoners as befits our natures rather than theirs."
Looking towards the towers he continues,
"I do not know if I reached the signal fire quickly enough or not. Either way I suspect our way forward will be contested. Let us search the towers for anything of use, this land offers little and so we should take advantage of what opportunity offers, get the goblins on their feet and move forward."
An idea dawning on him he asks Yukie,
"If our prisoners know of this clan of goblins perhaps there is some information they can provide about them or their territory. They may well be unwilling to aid us but if you would be willing it may be worth asking."
Yukie |
Yukie raises her head. "Yes, they may have some useful information. Hopefully they'll be cooperative." She looks to the rest of the party, expression neutral. "To speak bluntly, I would rather they be fit and unpredictable, than to know that every wound reminds them to be resentful of us. But since the group has spoken, I will respect your wishes. Hopefully we can speak again when we are rested. This battle has taken its toll on our minds, bodies and souls."
She excuses herself with a small bow, and briskly walks to the few goblins still standing. Before she speaks to them, she tries to assess their current mood, on a scale between "displeased" and "undiscriminatorily murderous".
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Assuming you want separate rolls per goblin, otherwise take the first one:
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
By the way, I'm assuming the thing with Yukie offering one goblin a potion hasn't happened. I jumped the gun a bit and assumed the party would be fine with a full heal, but if she does that now it may cause problems.
Horatius Lartius |
"I imagine they would chew through it just as quickly. I have hemp rope we can use, let's save the lighter, more costly rope in case we need it. They are quite adept at escaping their bonds but at least the rope slows them."
Once they're up if we can't reuse what they've chewed through Horatius will provide rope.
"I found these upon the goblins at the top of the tower. There were also various weapons I didn't bring down."
He holds out a CLW potion, two alchemist fires and 25 gp.
"Additionally for what it's worth it would seem the shaman worshipped Zarongel, a barghest demigod."
Jory Redcap |
Jory takes an unconscious goblin and stretches him face down over Halorn's horse and ties his wrist to his ankles and pulls the rope tight with no room to move. "See, his arms are so high over his head, his mouth can't reach his bonds. If they are to be healed, they have to be completely restrained. I do not want to chase them down every time we encounter other goblins, especially after this last fiasco with many leaving them unguarded and thinking they would behave."
Jory looks at the horse and speaks to the dwarf rider: "Good show at the tower today. We all know dwarves are more known for the licks they can take than the licks they can give; you proved that today. Can your horse carry all the goblins restrained? They feel pretty light. I can no longer trust them to move where they are supposed to."
He look around concerned. "Let us get quickly on the road and away from this area. The warning is definitely given."
Jory will lead the way again.
DM Rickmeister |
The goblins are being dragged to the center, tied down by the ropes provided by Horatius and start complaining as soon as they wake/come by.
You can tie the goblins on the horse, but as Horatius said in "Discussion":
Horatius Lartius |
With their muppet heads I'm not really sure how to manage it. In the end I think we're going to end up herding them like errant cats until we either track down some manacles or a cart/cage.
I don't think we will have much luck in binding these creatures without causing them significant harm. We will have to place our efforts in keeping them as corralled as we can. Let's get back to the road. As we pass perhaps those with sharp eyes could look within the towers for anything of use. Beyond that let's keep our eyes sharp.
Jory Redcap |
Jory announces, "We check their bonds every fifteen minutes. If they are loose, they get to ride the horse Jory style. These three I had to chase down can start with a horse ride to motivate them."
Jory hopes the program to earn walking privileges by not biting rope is successful.
Horatius Lartius |
Jory I share your frustration about keeping our captives in line but I do not think they can be taught any meaningful lesson. They live in chaotic warrens of violence and sadism and so they give no mind to such things. Let us set our guard about them and get them on the move again. They seem willing enough to follow, even if not in the manner we might prefer.
Andre Xanderz |
As much as I hate letting little evil creatures loose, I don't think we can keep them well. I suppose I will need to heal them and let them walk
Andre waits for responses prior to healing the goblins.
Jory Redcap |
Jory suddenly seems agitated. He looks to Andre. "Whatever you want to do. I just don't like shooting them when they run away. But I was given strict instructions by a superior in the Society. I try not to let them down."
He moves over to Yukie. "I am doing my best. I am not a bad dwarf." He seems to want to say more, but is very uncomfortable and tongue tied. Jory seems to be almost fighting back tears. Then he grimly nods to the group.
"I got point again." He moves out with what appears to be a heavy weight on his shoulders.
Perception/Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 191d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Horatius Lartius |
Horatius watches Jory walk off to begin his scouting with sympathy and understanding.
"Aye friend dwarf, the burden of duty is never easy and rarely simple"
He sighs, opening and closing his left hand to flex the recently healed flesh of his forearm. Looking at Andre but still considering the dwarfs words, he quietly says,
"You have tended your flock well. Heal the goblins, the road calls us forward."
He begins walking towards Yukie but stops for a moment when he reaches Tiasar. "That trick with the dragon was well done master wizard. The distraction it caused may well have saved some of our lives." He briefly grips his shoulder as he continues on.
"Yukie, are you and Aiko alright?" He waits for a response and then continues, "I found this on the shaman. Would you carry it? I will be on the front line and it is unlikely I will be able to administer it if needed." He hands her the potion of cure light wounds.
Returning to the group he nears Halorn and offers his hand gripping forearms as warriors. He speaks no words but nods in respect of the dwarfs battle skills and resilience.
Is everyone ok with taking a look in the towers before moving too far onward?
Andre Xanderz |
Something tells me that Dwarf doesn't do well in social circles.
Andre shakes his head at the angry little man.
If anyone else is in need of a little more healing stand close
once everyone who needs healing is close Andre walks over to the goblins and begins to pray as he does his symbol grows red hot and flames burst forward but do not burn the little vermin but heal them instead.
channel light: 1d6 ⇒ 5
That is all I can do for now.
Yukie |
Yukie had excused herself from the conversation, focusing on the goblins for the most part, but she did grasp that the group was coming around to healing their prisoners. Jory's approach comes as a surprise, and his words take the woman aback. She ponders them silently, and manages to respond with a smile, but he's wandered off before she can try to reassure him.
Horatius then comes to her, and entrusts her with a potion. "Yes, thank you for your concern. Aiko had a few scratches, but you were the ones who took the brunt of it to protect us all. I was truly relieved to see you safe." She takes the offered potion and nods. "I will use it wisely."
I'm assuming you guys can search the towers while I talk to the goblins, and then we can head off towards more adventure!
She gives her thanks to Andre when he steps over to heal the goblins, and turns her attention back to them. It's time to ask them a few questions.
"You know these other goblins we fought, don't you? The Iceclaw tribe, wasn't it? What can you tell me about them?"
"Is this part of their territory? Do you think we will encounter more of them?"
"Do you know anything else that could be useful about the general area?"
"...Lastly, I'm afraid we haven't properly introduced ourselves. I am Yukie. What are your names?"
Let the Charisma-bombing begin! I'm making one roll for each question, according to the rules for requests. If you want/allow one roll per goblin, assume I'm taking 10 for a result of 21 to ask the same question to another one if it fails.
Diplomacy 1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
Diplomacy 2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15

Diplomacy 4: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
DM Rickmeister |
The goblins, after being rounded up, are either lying unconscious or are a bit stupified by the events that happened. The one that was tied to the horse tries to explain to the two that **mysteriously** fell asleep that the dwarf shot the others, and that the tiger attacked Ruak, and the brown man attacked that Stokko!
They are mumbling amongst themselves, and their unsure gazes at you guys send one message: "What do we make of this?"
When Andre goes closer to the group, some flinch slightly but they try to maintain their posture. When he takes out his holy symbol and starts chanting, the conscious ones protect their heads with their scrawny hands, shouting: "N..." before they notice the blast doesn't hurt them. One of the unconscious goblins is starting to wake up, so the remainder are being prodded and shaken.
I'll answer the questions one by one, and I'll assume another goblin answers everytime. I'll allow a T10 on the general "Like me!" and use the rolls for the requests.
"You know these other goblins we fought, don't you? The Iceclaw tribe, wasn't it? What can you tell me about them?"
"Yessa, woman with cat! Them be icetooth raiders. Filthy filthy goblins! Not like us, no no. We strong, and smart, and good with weapons. They be NOTHING!"
He follows up by spitting on the ground, and uttering in goblin-tongue: "Sneeuwtanden zijn rot, en moeten sterven!""Is this part of their territory? Do you think we will encounter more of them?"
"They everywhere, misstres! But we did good, not many left. Like rats they is, hiding from us! We stronger, we better, we kill a lot of them!"
He finishes off by hitting his chest!"Do you know anything else that could be useful about the general area?"
"Kaekii not know! Go away, you hurt us! You just little boss, kaekii speak to big boss only! Kaekii IS little boss too!"
He turns away from you, and gestures at the others to be silent (behind your back)."...Lastly, I'm afraid we haven't properly introduced ourselves. I am Yukie. What are your names?"
"Joe-kee! Joekee! Haha, is goblin name! Joekee is good name! We are Stokko, Kaekii, Ruak, Nafnaf, Inopa, and Eekie!"
You get a bit confused when he is shouting names and looking around and pointing and looking at you and pointing, but you can make it out (with a slight headache).Andre Xanderz |
Andre smiles at the goblins as they wake up. His conflict between these being evil creatures and the fact that they are not harmful to the group as of yet is still causing him to teeter on what to do with them.
DM Rickmeister |
Horatius Lartius |
While Yukie questions the goblins Horatius will spend a few minutes searching the ground floor of the tower he climbed.
T20 = 21
After coming back to the group and hearing the results of Yukies questioning Horatius ponders a moment.
"If the Icetooth were broken and scattered then it may be that this group is not part of a larger clan but instead working for a different master." He shakes his head. "There is no way to know though, the best we can do is proceed carefully."
If someone wants to search the other tower while Horatius does the eastern one then I think we'll be ready to go.
Halorn Zakok |
Halorn stays and watches the goblins as Yukie chats with them. He does his best to listen carefully, especially when they speak in Goblin. He will spend most of his time looking busy by taking care of his horse.
DM Rickmeister |
All right, everyone figure out how you'll continue from here (goblins, hunting, scouting, etcetera) and i'll continue the story.
And put in a "dm" spoiler what kinds of gear you have specifically for ice cold weather conditions.
Horatius Lartius |
Assuming we roughly maintain our prior walking order...
As the group starts to move with Jory scouting ahead Horatius falls in on the Eastern side of the group of goblins. As they walk he moves his gaze between the Eastern ledge above them, the the path ahead and the group of goblins.
Cold Weather outfit
Snowshoes (not currently wearing them but will put them on if the snow starts getting deeper)
Yukie |
Yukie is puzzled by the "little boss" comment, but figures it must be a goblin thing. She commits the names to memory, and tries her best to find some way to tell them apart.
The previous arrangement seems fine to me.
Cold Weather Outfit (+5 Fort saves vs cold weather)
Furs (+2 Fort saves vs cold weather)
Snowshoes (Helps with movement in snow)
Andre Xanderz |
Andre walks out of the other tower closing up his backpack.
Found some gold didn't count it thought we could do that later as we should be off.
Jory Redcap |
Jory scouts ahead as the group prepares to leave. He is dressed warmly with his cold weather outfit.
DM Rickmeister |
Tiasar, post when ready, I'm keeping this thing moving :)
With the rough hills at now far to the north, the land opens into a broad grassland where the snow is much sparser. The sky is overcast and the temperature has risen, making the march south somewhat easier. For as far as the eye can see, there is nothing but open ground and great fir trees that dot the landscape.
The goblins have been behaving, largely due to Yuki talking to them a lot while walking the distance.

Horatius: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18

Halorn: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Andre: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
You recognize that a major snowstorm is coming, and that you should start preparing a camp as soon as possible.
You realize that setting up camp takes about an hour, and it's best if one acts as the leader of the camp set-up, while others help.
= One PC should make the eventual survival check, but other PCs may assist in the roll.
Everyone:
When posting your first comment on what Halorn and Horatius will say, be sure to include a survival check. This is roleplay time, but please use spoiler tags to sum up what you do (instead of ooc tags). :)
Horatius Lartius |
Making their way through the broad plains Horatius is pleased at the time the group is making though the benefits of the open landscape do come at a cost. During one of his pauses to scan the horizon he notes heavy clouds beginning to head their way. Seeing that Halorn seems to be looking in the same direction he walks over to the dwarf.
"I am not well versed in woodland lore but I fear a storm is headed our way."
Assuming Halorn agrees with the assessment
Horatius calls a stop pointing out the weather he and Halorn have noted.
"We'll need to setup camp quickly if we are to beat the snow. My skills in this regard are limited but I will assist as best I can. Perhaps if we moved to a group of fir trees we can use them to help brace us from the snow and wind."
Horatius will follow the lead of whomever is best in Survival.
