Halorn Zakok
|
Halorn moves his horse forward, making sure the goblins are following. "I've got 'em right now."
He looks over at them, glaring menacingly. "And they'd better stay here and stay quiet."
| DM Rickmeister |
You notice the goblins are very afraid of you, until you turn your back. You're pretty sure they are imitating you when you aren't looking, because you can hear muffled giggles. More than up to this point.
Also: An unconscious goblin on a horse will suffer for it. No way to 'brace for impact' on a horse, means his ribs will be under constant strain. You will probably have informed the others that it would be best for his health if he were to be placed in "line" as soon as possible.
Also: Do you have bandages, salves etc? I'll handwave it, but technically you need that for LTC.
Also: "out of site" > "out of sight" ;)
1d20 + 2 + 16 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 + 16 + 2 = 33 (dex, fine size, circumstance)
Yukie
|
Yukie has remained silent when it became obvious that the goblins grew ever more restless, but now that the situation has gotten more tense, she feels there isn't much she can do about them, besides...
"I volunteer to remain and keep an eye on them. I may still be able to offer some support from afar if necessary."
She locks eyes with her tiger, and points to Horatius. "Aiko, please accompany him."
Aiko has been given the "defend" command to, well, "defend" Horatius. (No roll necessary right now thanks to my +11 bonus on Handle Animal!) Yukie draws her wand of Magic Missile.
Horatius Lartius
|
Taking his gaze from the cliff edges above them Horatius nods in acknowledgement of Halorns statement and then returns to watching their scouts advance. Concern for his exposed companions causing the normally stoic paladins grip to tighten on his sword.
Erastil watch over the few who risk their lives for the many...
It's funny when I read your "site vs sight" comment I thought you were correcting me the other way and was going to argue the point. Then I went back and looked at what I'd wrote and smacked my forehead. :)

Jory Redcap
|
Jory glides along. He is mainly looking for threats from the towers, but also suspects a troll on this bridge. Jory gives Yukie a grateful smile for his magic armor. It really makes him feel confident.
He avoids the urge to whistle, as he feels this is what he should be doing. Not mining, as the rest of his clan.

Surprise round:
West tower: Shooting at Jory (FF 19)
Goblin 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 > 1d4 ⇒ 4
Goblin 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 > 1d4 ⇒ 2
East tower: Shooting at Tiasar (FF 10)
Goblin 3: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 > 1d4 ⇒ 1
Goblin 4: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 > 1d4 ⇒ 3
Goblin 5: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19 > 1d6 ⇒ 2
After coming over the shock of the inital volley of crudely made arrows and bolt, you notice that there is a plume of greasy black smoke coming from the top of the east tower. It doesn't take long to pick up on density, and will continue to do so.
The heavy wind above the bluff’s crest dissipates much of the early smoke, but it won't for much longer.
Jory nimbly dodges the first arrow shooting in his direction, whereas the second bounced off the mystical armor provided by Yukie.
Tiasar is less lucky. His eyes were drifting towards Jory as he was avoiding the arrows, but in doing this he neglected his own safety a bit. Two arrows and a crossbow bolt hit him, one getting dangerously close to his knee. The pain is not to be ignored.

East tower: Shooting at Tiasar (FF 10)
Goblin 4: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 > 1d4 ⇒ 3
Before anyone has had a chance of getting over their inital shock, you can hear laughter and goblinspeak coming from the top of the towers, and see three goblins hanging over the top to release a second arrow at the poor Tiasar and Jory, standing alone in the middle of the open ground.
Tiasar is hit by yet another arrow, and is starting to feel a little worse for wear. And even Jory, momentarily worried about Tiasar, is feeling two of the crudely-made arrows pierce through his magical armor.
Jory, Halorn and Tiasar: you're up!
Halorn Zakok
|
Halorn commands his horse to stay and moves his full speed up to the East Tower. He gets closer, but doesn't quite reach them immediately. He looks around at both towers, looking for an entrance or a ladder.
"I'm gonna be real sick of goblins by the time this is all over..."
| DM Rickmeister |
Tiasar
|
Gasping in shock he looks at the three projectiles in him. Then the fourth lands and he feels the pain. His brows cross furiously as his head swims, and he chants a few quick words off and raises one blood streaked arm to the sky. As his arm points there's a slight delay, then a bright streak of lighting that silently fires up to the sky and creates a portal. Out of the portal comes he head and shoulders of an enourmous red dragon, who looks coldly down at the battlements. Laughing, Tiasar shouts to them "You know not who you trifle with, surrender before I level the entire countryside!"
Bam silent image. hopefully that might give them pause
Jory Redcap
|
Yukie's armor saves from the surprise attacks, but two from the next salvo find their way through his armor doing extreme damage Almost max damage--Jory status 12/19hp
Jory swings around quickly drawing his bow, stepping towards the action, and putting two arrow at the goblins that were slower to fire. The first of his shots, Jory concentrates extra hard on full attack vs goblin 3 first- flurry of blows--perfect shot on arrow 1--grants reroll
arrow 1 hit/arrow 1 reroll/arrow 1 damage: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 121d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 71d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
arrow 2 hit/arrow 2 damage: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 221d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Jory thinks ironically the shot he concentrated on the least was the more accurate. Daily use of perfect shot expended.
| DM Rickmeister |
The first arrow strikes true, hitting the goblin despite being partially behind the broken wall of the tower. The goblin curses and shouts at you, sticking out his tongue.
The goblins that are tied behind the horse are laughing and hooting!
Goblin 3: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 > 1d4 ⇒ 2
You can hear one goblin barking something that sounds similar to commands, and the other one firing down at Halorn. However, the fear of return fire and the dragon hivering above them has seemingly altered their steadyness, and they fly past Halorn without coming close.
Horatius, Yukie and Andre, you're up!
Horatius Lartius
|
With a surge of speed Horatius sprints towards the Eastern tower.
| DM Rickmeister |
now are of typical goblin craftsmanship.
The towers are simple structures. Inside, the ground floor of each tower is a 20-square-foot circular room where the goblins are lairing.
The wooden stairway that once climbed the interior wall of the tower rotted away long ago, and now a single 50-foot ladder rises from the ground of each tower to wooden hatches leading to the roof.
Yukie
|
Yukie's eyes open wide at the sight of Jory and Tiasar getting pelted with arrows. Obeying Horatius' command, she steps forward and points her wand at one of the goblins Jory managed to already hit, sending forth a bolt of magic power.
Meanwhile, the white tiger follows Horatius, ready to pounce on whoever could threaten him.
Yukie: Five-foot step up and to the right, Magic Missile from wand to Goblin #3.
Magic Missile damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Andre Xanderz
|
Andre seeing the arrows and bolts hit the mark against his new friends moves up quickly and says
By the power and glory of Sarenrae give me the power to heal
Andre's holy symbol around his neck glows red hot and explodes from him and envelopes all those near him

East tower:
Goblin 4: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 > 1d4 ⇒ 1
The two goblins in the west tower align their bows an are aiming for the paladin who is charging forward, with the tiger right on his heels. Just as he is checking for an entrance, he can feel one arrows penetrating his shoulder blade. He manages to keep his momentum and not fall to the floor, as Yukie's tiger starts growling at the assailants, unable to defend Horatius as his master ordered. The other goblin fired his arrow at the dragon, and sees it going through it. He is baffled, and staring up into the sky.
At that exact time everyone sees an arrow coming from above, and the giggles of a goblin who is shouting.
"Ik heb hem ik heb hem!!"
The goblins in the other tower are shouting something back: "Achter u! Pas op!!"
Jory, Halorn and Tiasar, batter up!
If anyone speaks Goblin, let me know, I'll translate it.
Tiasar
|
Tiasar shakes his head at the goblins "Fine, have it your way!" he has the 'dragon' shake itself free of the portal and take off towards them. As it does so Tiasar runs forward, getting closer to the tower. The dragon archs its back and releases a jet of fire down towards the goblins at the same time Tiasar casts 'burning hands' up at them

The goblins are uncertain what the dragon is doing there, the ones in the eastern tower are dissapearing. Maybe they fell flat on the floor?
Also: The fifth goblin has something special about her. She looks like this!
I also put up the picture at "Campaign info".
| DM Rickmeister |
Am I missing something?
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE IT... But PFS has to be within the "lame" rules aswell :p
Jory Redcap
|
Jory looks emboldened and relieved as the healing washes over him and flashes a rare smile at the cleric. Two more arrows speed after the goblins; they are poorly aimed.

I forgot the distance of burning hands so I'm changing my previous action, much the same except the dragon is breathing up into the air and Tiasar casts ear piercing scream at one of the goblins

Halorn Zakok
|
Halorn moves up to the first tower, but can't quite reach the door. As he feels the arrows zip past him, he thinks "It sure is good to hear the sounds of battle again. It's been too long." A grin grows on his face--it's not a pretty sight (CHA 5).
He hears what the goblins are saying, but pretends that he can't understand.

"Achter u! Pas op!!" = "Watch out, behind you!"
Horatius > 1 dmg
Yukie's tiger > 1 dmg
The goblin with the weird contraption on her head is cursing, and peeks over the edge of the wall. She releases some kind of vial containing a red fluid, which gravity pulls towards Halorn. He gets a direct hit on his helmet, and the fluid is running down his shoulder and scalding his face. Horatius and the white tiger are splashed slightly, and have a distinct feel how much more Halorn would be screaming, if he hadn't worn his helmet.
Andre Xanderz

Seeing that the goblins are trying to get free once again.
The darned goblins are escaping!!
Andre will turn on the captives.
Stop biting the ropes or I will call down the fires of Sarenrae upon you

fire bolt ranged touch square next to them: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
A fire bolt goes wide of the goblins burning grass in its wake.

You can hear a multitude of voices saying the following sentence, all mixed.
"Yes yes!"
"Fire burning!" <laughter>
"No shoot, no shoot!!"
"Filthy Icetooths!"
"We no escape!"
"We help"
Horatius Lartius
|
Horatius reached the doorway to the Eastern tower just moments before Halorn. As he reached back to pull the goblins arrow from his shoulder a sudden burst of light and heat washed over him as the goblins fire washed over Halorn. Quickly shielding his face he felt the burning liquid burn his forearm and could hear Aiko growl in pain.
Ignoring the injuries the paladin stayed focus on his task smashing at the goblins blockade with a mighty strike.
Power attack against the door : 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Damage : 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 3) + 7 = 16
Based on this I believe it would be an AC of 3 (10 + 0 for size -5 Dex -2 inanimate) Not sure where you want to set the hardness/HP
If he does break it I'd like to follow up with his move action to enter the tower and start fast climbing (+5 to climb DC which would make it DC 5 I believe). This would let him move at half speed up the ladder (minus whatever it took to reach the ladder).
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

...
South is >>> that-a-way >>> on the map, so I moved you accordingly.
Also, I added temporary arrows to show the way.
Horatius runs around the corner, with his greatsword ready. When he arrives at the entrance, he chops the very crudely made wooden door in half with a single stroke. He kicks the rest down, and can see the one goblin staring down, a surprised smile on her face. She says something to her friend: "Ze zitten in de val subiet. Klaar?"
Halorn Zakok
|
Halorn speaks in as low a voice as possible to Horatius. "Watch it soldier! They've got some kind of trap planned in there. Maybe they've got some way to keep us locked in and unable to climb while they drop stuff on us. Durned if I know what else to do."
Horatius Lartius
|
Horatius nods grimly at the dwarfs warning.
"The signal fire must be put out. If I fail you must succeed."
Sparing a glance at Aiko he says, "There is little you can do here friend. Find your mistress...go to Yukie."
"Clear the East tower" he calls out as he steels his resolve for the dangerous climb.
I figure Horatius is too far and to focused to hear Andres warning.
Yukie
|
Aiko seems determined to remain and protect Horatius from threats somehow, but her mistress sees her lingering there from afar, and realizes that the animal can't do much right now. Yukie whistles her back to her side.
Meanwhile, the goblins are more restless than ever, and despite their apparently eagerness to help and hatred of the other goblins, the rest of the group seems to realize that their help would likely only add further chaos to the battle. The soft-spoken Tian woman can't keep them all in line in the heat of battle like this, but luckily Aiko's return should make an attempt to join the fray much harder for them. Between the horse and the tiger, they will pick the tiger. Yukie smiles before sending another bolt of magic power flying across the battlefield, this time at the apparent leader of the pack.
Free action: "Heel" command to Aiko.
Move action: Move somewhat closer to the battlefield. (Taking elevation into account, I THINK Goblin #5 is within range, but if not feel free to move my token since I didn't use all of my movement this turn anyway.)
Standard action: Magic Missile from wand to Goblin #5.
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Aiko: Double-move back to Yukie's side, between her and those dangerous gob-gobs.

Jory and Tiasar, I think you skipped a turn. It was Horatius, Yukie and Andre, and then the goblins again. I'll do their turn in a minute.
| DM Rickmeister |
Goblin 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 > 1d4 ⇒ 1

East tower:
Goblin 4: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 > 1d4 ⇒ 3
EDIT: Goblin 4 is dazed.
As Yukie is calling Aiko back, the tiger responds immediately. As he passed Tiasar, the elven mage sees the goblin he just enchanted looking around, making some gestures to the one standing next to him. He doesn't undestand what happened.
The goblins in the western tower release their arrows, before dissapearing from sight. Horatius gets the full load, while kicking down the door!
| DM Rickmeister |
Your prisoners have all but chewed through their bonds, and are helping eachother tear (?) free. They begin to run forward, all the while hooting and howling various.. battle cries?
Most are in goblin, and are not exactly ignored by the goblins on the tower.
I added 5 shapes on the map for the freed goblins. They are still unarmed and unarmored.
| DM Rickmeister |
Jory:
Jory's first arrow flies straight to its target, followed quickly by another one who is not quite are well-aimed and loses too much momentum. The first arrows seems to be ready to pierce the head of the goblin on top of the tower, but he failed to calculate the wall he was behind. The arrow deflect a very small amount, but enough to but scratch the ear instead of end the life of the goblin.
Tiasar: You want to re-target the sleep-spell, please?
| DM Rickmeister |
Repeat:
Tiasar turns with annoyance and takes out a small pouch of sand. Opening it and throwing it into the air, he sings a few words in elven and the dust settles over the goblins.
The two goblins stop in their tracks, look around at the sparkles in the sky, and close their eyes. They fall down, and start snoring like you wouldn't believe.
Casting Sleep centered on our goblin prisoners. DC 16 will save or be asleep for 2 minutes
Goblin prisoner 1: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
Goblin prisoner 2: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
On the round following a direct hit, the target takes an additional 1d6 points of damage. If desired, the target can use a full-round action to attempt to extinguish the flames before taking this additional damage. Extinguishing the flames requires a DC 15 Reflex save. Rolling on the ground provides the target a +2 bonus on the save.
Halorn Zakok
|
Following instructions from the Manual of Standard Dwarven Tactics, Halorn drops to the ground and rolls to put out the alchemist's fire. He shouts to Horatius: "I'll be there in a sec!"
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 2 = 10
Edit: Ouch! Taking the damage (or the DM can void and re-roll)
Additional damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
| DM Rickmeister |
Rolling the dmg yourself = ok.
You currently stand at 6/12 HP, Halorn. Just don't forget to use spoiler or OOC tags, if you don't mind.
The goblin with the weird headdress moves closer to the hole where the ladder is sticking out of the roof.
Horatius, Yukie and Andre, you're up!
