Paeter, uninjured, lets Syrak take the potion and tosses the alchemical items to Falco. "This might help you until you get better magical powers." he says resolutely.

True to his word, he lets the pirate run free after surrendering, though not after confiscating his battle attire.

---

At the Lionfish, Paeter looks to his comrades. "Plans? Perhaps we should try to sneak aboard?" he says, unsure how to get aboard without being seen.

"Oh come one, Syrak. We have better things to do: explore a ship!" says Pandoor, already trying to find some verses about ship exploration.

-------------

Once before the ship, Pandoor suggests.

"I might charm a sailor that could help us get in!"

Pandoor wanders on the dock and tries to see a broad shouldered docker operating on the ship.

"Hey! Long time no see! What was it the last time... AH YES! At the Formidably Maid! Quite an inn, isn't it! What are you working on now, did you retire from business? Mind to show me around?"

Pandoor eyes a female dwarf dressed like an angler. She looks around, confused. She then shrugs, "Can't say I remember that, but you've got a familiar and trustworthy face my halfling friend. You need to see something? I'm happy to oblige! It'd do me some good to go for a paddle. Come on, let's go. You bringing your friends too? I guess they'll fit." With a smile she adds, "The'name's Smulwarts Gultrock! Pleasure."

She has no problem rowing you to the Lionfish.

But what you do when you get there is up to you. There is some activity on deck, but there's no rope lowered. Obvious options are climbing the side (tricky, but good cover), climbing the anchor chain, noisy but easy). It sounds like there is only a pair of sailors on board.

Map is updated with the ship (sorry, it wouldn't extract correctly), just place yourself where you plan on climbinb up.

Falco holds his mouth open in shock. "Better magical powers? My magical powers are certainly better than yours! And they have developed steadily since my studies began. How are your magical studies going, Linseed?"

With a humph Falco turns away and storms off ahead of the other halflings. He keeps quiet during the talks about rowing to the Lionfish and takes a place in the back of the boat to sulk, studying his spellbook en route.

Climb: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 According to the PFSRD, ship's rigging is DC 10, so Paeter makes it up 5'.

It's not 100% strictly by the rules. You only need 1 success here. It's DC 20 up the side of the ship (the rigging are the lines above deck.) It's DC 10 up the chain, but that's really loud and obvious. Pandoor is up, but Paeter, let me know if you want side or chain. If you go chain add a Stealth check.

Falco gets himself up to the deck and the sailors see a group of armed boarders. They immediately start to shout. He tells you that he was put in charge of the Lionfish while Alejia infiltrated a ship known as the Topaz Titan, and that he was instructed to sail the ship out to sea to rendezvous with her after she takes the Topaz Titan. If he doesn’t show up, however, she’ll execute her takeover plan anyway, simply scuttling the Topaz Titan once she brings it near a harbor instead of allowing her crew members to loot the cargo.

As Pandoor thanks the remaining men, Paeter walks up behind the two humans as they point back to Riddleport to support their claims. "As my other cousin said, thanks."

With a quick motion, he gives two stout shoves to both of the pirates, sending them careening overboard. "Also, this is our ship now." he calls after them as they splash into the water.

While Pandoor heads back into town to find a crew, Paeter waits patiently with the boat, searching for any secret rations of elvish wine or dwarven whiskey. "Hmm... there should be something here." he ponders to himself as he ransacks the Captain's Quarters.

On the way to Viper Cove, Paeter searches for pirate booty:

He finds a magical hook hand +1, 5 barrels of cheap rum, and a large, ornate treasure chest (itself worth about 45 gp) with a sextant in it (500 gp).

I just realized that a massive update was eaten, and only because THREE other games of mine had the same.

Map is up to date, but you'll need a post from me...

It doesn't take long to find a crew and Captain willing to make the trip to Viper Cover. Indeed a few seem eager for it. It's a day of sailing, but once outside of Riddle port it's smooth.

The only landing point on the rocky islet called Viper Cove seems to be through a cavern entrance that leads to a shallow cove concealed within the island itself. The walls of the cavern are lined intermittently with torch-adorned sconces, and another ship is already moored on the northeastern side of the embankment—Topaz Titan is emblazoned across its hull in orange letters that shine brilliantly even in the limited light. Several hastily-sealed cans of paint, a wood rasp, and sandpaper are barely visible on the ship’s deck. On the eastern side of the large cavern, two exits lead further into the cave complex. The captive, a mildly unhinged, but still enjoyable fellow named Cad asks, "Looks like there's space to dock. Do I park this fine lady, or are you jumping out to swim in?"

Paeter looks over the magical hook hand and his childhood fantasies of being a pirate come rushing back. However, the man has enjoyed the use of his hand for a couple decades and he sees no need for the weapon in the near future.

---

"Dock our ship and we shall raid the Topaz." he states. "Keep the sails ready to be loosed. We will be back shortly." he remarks.
