"True marvels, here! Hey, look at this, they even have got masks that move on their own. What? What! To arms!"
Jonah draws and activates his wand of bless. ... which I completely forgot until now, sorry guys.
"Desna, bless our path with chance encounters!"
GM Zinou |
Good, no surprise round, then
Jonah's fine sense of observation makes him notice that what you perceived first as masks are in fact Vargouilles attacking you! Before the fight, he blesses the party in Desna's name.
Two hideous looking creatures burst free of their casing in a shower of dust and stone shards and begin to fly (10' off ground). They appear to be blackened, bat-winged fiend's heads with tentacles dangle from chin and scalp, and fanged mouths hang agape.
You (except Jonah) have a first round of readied actions or ranged attacks, because they are still breaking free.

"There is a warning here," Falco explains as he traces the markings, "a warning against the power of idols. Probably what caused the madness in those men. There is also a chant here that will break the enchantment on one person, though."
As soon as the creatures break free of the wall and start flying through, Falco breaks off of his study and fires his wand at the closer one.

Titian Flaxseed |
Titian looks at the creatures as disgust crawls across his features. "What in the name of Sheyln are those things?" He grips his glaive and readies to attack if they get near.

"Should we check the lavatory? I've been told that such places sometimes get trapped with magical fireball spells. I'd love to see that in action!" says the carefree halfling, opening the door.
Paeter Linseed |
Satisfied with himself now that he has finally landed a solid blow with his sword, Paeter boldly past Jonah as he opens the door to the lavatory. He then notices the halfling's stout armor and decides that the Flaxseed can lead and it will give him a chance to see his capabilities better. Might as well see what a Flaxseed can actually do.
GM Zinou |
Titian and Falco: I'll let you move yourselves on the map.
When Jonah kicks the opens the door, he sees... restrooms. What did you expect? These public restrooms seem to be for the use of visiting clientele. Several stalls are here and a huge cesspool below collects the offal. Mad laughter echoes in this cramped stone chamber. The stench of sewage battles the cold of the mist, but through the haze can be seen smears of blood across the floor, walls, and ceiling, as well as the doors of several stalls.
Jonah sees a snake and there is an ape-man that appears from within the last stall.

Paeter Linseed |
Paeter readies a strike for the next creature to come through the door, non-lethal if it is the monkey man, flanking with his distant relative. "Hostages that fight back are the worst." Paeter bemoans.

Jonah Flaxseed |
Anyone still wounded? You can assume I'll use your wand on yourself and roll the dice in my stead.
"Alright, so the lavatory was not a good idea. Shall we try the other door? Once everyone is up and running of course."
GM Zinou |
Feel free to retkon any healing.
You get back in the main hall. A long hallway leads to this grand hall, wherein the Blakros Museum shows off its finest collections. Mock vines cling to the walls and hang from the fifty-foot-high domed ceiling, and huts of grass are strewn about the open area. At the center of this sprawling chamber, a miniature replica of a traditional Mwangi ziggurat rises out of the mist to a height of nearly twenty feet. At the top of the ziggurat, a rail-thin elven gentleman is strapped to an altar, his bare chest painted with strange sigils and monkey paw-shaped blots of paint.
All around you, the room fills with howling monkeys. They are climbing on the walls, in vines in the ceiling, and all around the room. A large ape jumps down from the ceiling and pounds his chest, letting you know who is king in this room.
