Syrak Divinion |
Inspired by Pandoor's oration Syrak slogs forward into the water and attacks the giant bird.
Inspired Power Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Dungeon Master S |
Syrak wades through the water, muscles straining as he goes. Pandoor's bardic power pushes him forward.
The swing of the sword just barely hits, but the wound is deep, and Syrak can tell that a couple more like that will do it.
Round 1:
Pandoor: Bard
Syrak: ATK
Falco: Go
Paeter: Go
Baddies: TBD
Worm:
Bird: 11
Paeter Linseed |
Paeter advances on the worm as he lunges from his position on the bookcase to stab at the swimming beast. "Hiya!" he cries heroically.
Trident @ Worm | Inspire: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 8 + 1 = 29
Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 1 = 9
Trident Confirmation @ Worm: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 8 + 1 = 28
Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7
Dungeon Master S |
Paeter spears the worm with the center prong inflicting a heavy wound. The worm squirms and thrashes, but does not die.
Round 1:
Pandoor: Bard
Syrak: ATK
Falco: Go
Paeter: Trident
Baddies: TBD
Worm: 16
Bird: 11
Falco Flaxseed |
Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 DR?
Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25 DR? Elemental resistances? Disease?
"Voidworms and zombies! What else has infested this place?"
Falco starts calling in some more help against these nature creatures.
Start summon monster II.
Dungeon Master S |
@#!$@$%^ I missed this post. Sorry.
Falco begins a complex spell:
Voidworm has no DR
Juju zombie's resist weapons that aren't magical AS WELL AS bludgeoning and piercing, which do little to destroy their rotting interior. They're immune to cold and electricity, and mostly resistant to fire.
The worm, no longer content to simply hide, strikes back at Paeter:
Bite: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 MISS
Tail Slap: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 THREAT
Tail Slap: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 for DMG: 1d3 ⇒ 1, but there's something .... strange about the .... um... uhhh... MAke a will save.
The vulture turns its attention to Syrak:
Bite: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29 for DMG: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Slam: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25 for DMG: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Round 2:
Pandoor: Go
Syrak: Go
Falco: Go
Paeter: Go
Baddies: TBD
Worm: 16
Bird: 11
Syrak Divinion |
Syrak yells back confused "I thought we were saving the worm!?" as he slogs after the bird and strikes boldly.
Inspired Power Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
damage: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Extra Crit damage: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (7, 3) + 20 = 30
Total crit damage = 49
Paeter Linseed |
Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19 At this level, that should probably make it...
Paeter feels the sting of pain where the tail slammed into his arm, but it quickly recedes as he sees the creature is actually quite weak. "How dare you touch me, foul beast? I shall end this quick, so you are not granted the pleasure of pain." he spits venomously as he strikes with his trident and shield.
Trident @ Worm | Inspire/TWF: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 8 + 1 - 2 = 21
Damage | Inspire: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7
Shield @ Worm | Inspire/TWF: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 1 - 2 = 23
Damage | Inspire: 1d3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 = 4
Dungeon Master S |
Syrak's words are punctuated with an immensely powerful swing, a swing that bifurcates the zombie bird! A pair of high pitched fey voices follow up the splashing corpse with "WHATA SWING!" and "Shhhhh you idiot!"
Paeter resists whatever mental assault came with the tail and responds by spearing the worm and bringing the combat to a close.
Out of combat!
"Wow!"
"Remind me not to steal their fishing spots!"
A quick look about and you see the fey from upstairs looking down from the top of the stairwell, intrigued by your skill at arms.
They wave.
Paeter Linseed |
Paeter looks oddly at the fisher"men" above and decides its not worth his time. "Aye, let's keep moving this way." he recommends to the group before continuing down the top of the bookcase.
Falco Flaxseed |
Falco waves his hands and the spell he was working on dissipates into the air, no longer needed. "Well done. Let's slog through. They should really install a drain in this place, I'm going to recommend it in all our libraries and scriptoriums when next we see Shaine."
Pandoor Flaxseed |
Stopping his tale, Pandoor grins widely and clap both hands cheerfully.
"WoOOOAAh! Well done, Syrak! Well done, Paeter! That's so inspiring to work along with such heroes... And Master Falco! Where do plan on heading? Downstairs? Somewhere else?"
Dungeon Master S |
Indeed, the area you're in now is large, but to make life easier, I'll allow a perception check to cover the whole thing. You've got 2 doors to the west, and two passages to the east.
A reminder, we're on Map 2
Pandoor Flaxseed |
Oh, sorry for the misunderstanding ^^
"Yes, well, that's what I meant... Almost..." Pandoor smiles but you don't have to be a diviner to tell that he's completely lost.
"Where to, then?" he says looking at the possibilities the party has.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Dungeon Master S |
Pandoor looks about, but sees only a flooded library full of ruined books and scrolls.
Paeter Linseed |
Paeter concurs and moves to the first door, kicking it open with aplomb as he keeps his shield and trident at the ready. "Let's go!" he bellows.
Falco Flaxseed |
Falco remains quiet atop his pony, thinking about all the lost knowledge floating around him. "Such a shame," he mutters to himself as he nudges his pony to follow the others.
Dungeon Master S |
Syrak sees nothing of note. (Falco can make an Appraise check to evaluate the lost knowledge).
The party makes their way to the east where the two corridors end in doors, making the room symmetrical.
Dungeon Master S |
On the east side, however, the doors are open!
Map is updated. Where to?
Paeter Linseed |
Paeter is trying to go in the room where is adjacent to the door. It seems to still be covered, so I don't know what to add.
Dorvhan Thunderstriker |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
sorry, I'll update the map and post tonight (unannounced grand parents visit to see the new house)
-Posted with Wayfinder
Falco Flaxseed |
Appraise? Yay wizards!
Appraise: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Falco shifts nervously on his pony. "Well, let's keep moving. These scrolls aren't getting any drier with us standing here!"
Oh yeah, congrats on the new house! But it's also the biggest ongoing project ever, at least it was for us.
Dungeon Master S |
Thank you. Yeah, projects are constant, but worth it.
Falco looks about, but it seems mostly like junk. These aren't called the Overflow for nothing (even when they're not overflowing. )
sorry, time just got away from me. First thing in the morning.

Dungeon Master S |
I made the map a little clearer with the open doors on the east side. Since everyone is placed on the SW door, I'll go with that.
This door seems to be locked, and sealed tight. The door opens inward, and as best you can tell, it's dry on the other side. A quick check of the NW door shows that that door is not locked, and not well sealed.
Pandoor Flaxseed |
Pandoor follows the party, not quite sure what to look for.
"Do you think we should open this door, master Falco? anyone knows what is on the other side? Are there books?" he drowns Falco in questions.
Syrak Divinion |
"Lets keep out eye out for a key before we go breaking down any doors down here."
Syrak will lead the party to the nearby NW door and open that.
Falco Flaxseed |
"Indeed, but if we don't find a key quickly I think the door can be replaced more easily than the books and scrolls."
Ah, I forgot what a pain this map is. I remember complaining loudly when it came out, and not just for the sorry people who had to try to draw it by hand but also for the PbP GMs who have to mess with covering it up and revealing parts at a time. Maps like these are what I used to use my print quota on back when I was an undergrad....
Dungeon Master S |
Yep. Polyline on Google drawings isn't TOO bad.
Upon arrive at the door, there's a note pinned to it. NEW ADDITION TO HANDOUT
After taking the note, Syrak opens the door, which takes his strength. A thin waterfall drops from a grate in the ceiling fifteen feet above, creating a curtain in the doorway to this flooded room. Beyond, mounted animal heads glower from virtually every inch of every wall. Stuffed specimens also lurk beneath the dark water, their antlers, horns, and claws breaking the surface here and there. In the eastern corner, a large gilded cage sits mostly submerged, its waters thick with embalmed birds bobbing at the surface.
Mostly submerged (and in danger of drowning if the flooding doesn't stop, you see an assistant stuck in a bird cage. A pair of tiny little fairies appear to be tearing his teeth out with pliers. Sirring on a stuffed gorgon head is a green-skinned fey has webbed hands and feet. Its hair is the color of seaweed, and is decorated with shells.
"OOO More teeth! Get them!"
Both creature types can be ID with Knowledge Nature.
Baddies: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Falco: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 (always acts in surprise)
Pandoor: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Paeter: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Dorvhan: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5
Syrak: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Dungeon Master S |
Round 1:
Syrak: Go
Paeter: Go
Pandoor: Go
Falco: Go
Baddies: TBD
Syrak Divinion |
Syrak comments "Please tell me those aren't what I think they are." as he pushes forward through the water and strikes at one of the plier wielding faeries.
Power Glaive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
damage: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Dungeon Master S |
The water here is VERY difficult terrain, 1/4 speed.
Nevertheless, Syrak closes to one of the evil nasty tooth fairies...
Round 1:
Syrak: Move
Paeter: Go
Pandoor: Go
Falco: Go
Baddies: TBD
Paeter Linseed |
Paeter advances into the room, moving slowly through the water as he keeps his shield raised high. "Ain't no one taking my teeth!" he bellows, trying to fend off any attacks.
Double move.
Dungeon Master S |
The critters all laugh at Paeter's promise, but they don't seem to be worried about it. Indeed, the two tiny fairies clack their pliers a few times...
Round 1:
Syrak: Move
Paeter: Move
Pandoor: Go
Falco: Go
Baddies: TBD
Pandoor Flaxseed |
Pandoor shouts as loud as he can a tale to inspire his companions!
"Remember the pathfinder team that fought against a werewolf in Ustalav! They kept their teeth intact, even though the werewolf was toothy enough!"
Inspire courage!
Dungeon Master S |
PAndoor's words fight against the tittering laughs of the fey!
Round 1:
Syrak: Move
Paeter: Move
Pandoor: Bardic!
Falco: Go
Baddies: TBD
Falco Flaxseed |
Knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Falco sees the little creatures flitting about and stays back while he brings in a more mobile ally.
Start summon monster I.
Dungeon Master S |
Falco begins a very complex spell. As he casts he realizes that the lone figure is a bog nixie, a nasty little Fey (and a free question.) The other creatures elude him.
The nixie on the head sees the spellcasting, and says, "Now now, that's no fun. Come hither my handsome friend!" The words carry a lot of weight - too much weight. Feelings of friendship well in the halfling. Will Save DC 17 (+5 bonus to your save due to the combat)
The tooth faeries also want none of it, but they opt for a more mechanical approach. Both zip towards Syrak, clacking pliers that are WAY too big to be held
Dadachick Black: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 for DMG: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1.
Dadachuck Blue: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 for DMG: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1.
Round 2:
Syrak: Go & AoO
Paeter: Go & AoO
Pandoor: Go
Falco: Go
Baddies: TBD
Falco Flaxseed |
Will: 1d20 + 6 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 6 + 5 = 27
"Ugh! Fey! I don't think I could ever be associated with such an annoying creature!" Falco blurts as he finishes his spell. An eagle appears near the fey and starts attacking:
talon: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 3 + 2 = 18
damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
talon: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 2 = 15
damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Falco then unleashes his own set of missiles at the fey. Same one if still up, then redirect if needed. Probably still up though.
force: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
force: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Syrak Divinion |
Inspired Power AoO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
damage: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Syrak has AC 17 and is hit by both attacks.
Syrak drops his glaive, hoping its too big to be carried away by the water and grows a pair of claws and rips the faeries.
Power Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
damage: 1d4 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Power Claw2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
damage: 1d4 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Pandoor Flaxseed |
Pandoor continues his inspired speech and pulls out a tiny tart from his component pouch.
"Hey, fey! Do you know the difference between a halfling and a fulling? Optimism!" and throws the tart at the nixie.
Casting Hideous Laughter DC 16, it gets the +4 bonus from "different type", though
Dungeon Master S |
The fey's expression changes to one of rage and horror at the eagle in her face. The eagle scratches and bites, but the fey's nature skin resists the attacks. SR: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 If I missed bonuses, no worries, this was enough as is. Falco's spell, however, breaks through and gives the nixie a wound to remember him by.
Syrak ravages the tooth faeries though. When done there's nothing left, which elicits a scream from the nixie. Will: 1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 4 = 27, and at no point does it sounds like it's going to turn to laughter.
Round 2:
Syrak: GATK
Paeter: Go
Pandoor: Spell
Falco: MM & Eagle
Baddies: TBD
Nixie: 5
Paeter Linseed |
Paeter, slogging through the water with a scowl, sees his compatriots lash out at the fey and suppresses a bit of a smile when their forms are cleaved by Syrak. "Evil creatures..." he snarls as he sloshes onward towards the leader.
"Come down here and join me, fey!" he bellows upward as only his upper torso remains dry.
Double Move.
Dungeon Master S |
Paeter has a hard time in the water, but makes his move.
They Fey, realizing the odds aren't good, decides to play less than fair. She starts to sing a song. It's different than her spell, and it's not quite a bard song. It's something... else.
EVERYONE needs to make a Will save DC 19...
Round 3:
Syrak: Go
Paeter: Go
Pandoor: Go
Falco: Go
Baddies: TBD
Nixie: 5
Pandoor Flaxseed |
I guess that's a "language-dependent effect", so that I get my well-versed bonus.
Will save: 1d20 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 4 = 17 Oh, well...
Syrak Divinion |
Will: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Syrak's faith fails him and he succumbs to the magic.
Assuming he can still act...
Syrak picks up his discarded glaive as his claws recede and begins the trudge towards the evil fey.
Falco Flaxseed |
Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
"That's enough," Falco moans as he kicks his pony forward into the water-logged room. He taps Syrak on the shoulder and says, "Just kill them already, would you?"
Diviner's Fortune: +2 insight on attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws for 1 round.
Paeter Linseed |
Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 Fail; unless it has the fear descriptor, then he passes!
Paeter is overcome by the fey's power as his mind becomes bent to the fey's power.
