Sivar Soulscar |
Seeing as Green has conveniently moved into range Sivar will drop the Fauchard down on him chuckling to himself
Fauchard: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 211d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Yes he is resisting saying anything atm as no one understands him in combat anyway.
GM Chyro |
Grint's bolt scrapes the wall, distorting the trajectory enough to prevent it from hitting green.
Sivar's attack lands, dealing some dmg to the angry dwarf.

Round 2
Elsa blasts green down.
-----------------------
Blue's eyes grow with anger, and he steps 5ft closer to Father Burdock.
Greataxe, FE, PA: 1d20 + 11 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 11 + 2 - 2 = 25 Dmg, FE, PA: 1d12 + 6 + 2 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 + 2 + 6 = 21
His greataxe comes down hard on Father Burdock.
"Filth like you should've remained on the surface. There is no place in Droskar's lands for your kind."
Red heads for the trio below.
Acro vs aoo Sivar: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17 Nuh-uh.
AoO: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16 Dmg: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
The duergar is not nimble enough to avoid a fauchard coming his way, but is fast enough to raise his shield to block the attack.
Having witnessed Elsa blasting aside his comrade in arms, he makes a swing at her.
Waraxe, PA: 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (13) + 8 - 1 = 20 1d10 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 2 = 6
Impact is low, but his axe hits Elsa.

CSW on Success: 3d8 + 6 ⇒ (7, 7, 7) + 6 = 27
Burdock carefully constructs one spell into another, healing his last couple of wounds.
Grint Mavric |
Grint 5-foot steps south, shoots at the duergar and reloads.
Single Shot, PBS, Deadly Aim, Moved: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 10 + 1 + 1 - 2 = 281d8 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 8
GM Chyro |
Red takes a well placed bolt in his shoulder, after which Sivar makes a swing. Hurrying himself past the duergar made the attack off the mark, however.

Blue attacks Father Burdock again.

Red axe vs Elsa: 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (9) + 8 - 1 = 16 1d10 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 2 = 13

Crit confirm?: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 111d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
GM Chyro |
I'll take that Sivar vs red, Grint vs blue, going by order.
That is how it seems to me?
Sivar hacks into red, who keels over onto the floor. As red drops, Grint aims his crossbow at blue, and hits despite Father Burdock standing in front oh him.

Damage: 3d6 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6, 5, 3) + 2 + 2 + 1 = 19*1.5= 29 damage
GM Chyro |
After Father Burdock's swing, ice seals the deal, removing the last threat.
Combat over.
GM Chyro |
The one with the greataxe carried a potion of CLW.
Advancing.
Carefully treading the stairs, you come to a deserted and neglected hallway.
As you do, a shimmering portal appears, and a figure comes tumbling through.
Burdock's friend, your cue.
Lubius Daringdawdle |
Sorry for the delay, I didn't realize there was a separate thread for gameplay, I had only been checking the discussion thread.
I try to turn the tumble into a dancing flourish as I finish the last few words of an Infernal war ballad, "Kudd Haaaafffffff IIIIIIIDDDDDD!!"
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22
Sing: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19
Looking shocked and slightly suspicious, "Hmm, not how my performances normally finish. Who might you be?"
Glancing at the stone walls, and general decor to figure out where I am.
Knowledge Dungeoneering: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
GM Chyro |
Lubius concludes he's in some ancient place, given the state of the masonry. Some depictions of dwarven craft makes the final give away what race resides here.
GM Chyro |
You could be called worse.
A crazy PC of mine dared call a dwarf an elf, on account of never seen a dwarf before though.
Jadwiga Elsa Harcatha |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
I am the Jadwiga Elsa Harcatha. You may call me Mistress. Who are you? Elsa says imperiously to the newcomer
Sivar Soulscar |
Not knowing what the stranger said and hearing Elsas words, Sivar stands beside Elsa Fauchard held in one hand and looking at the stranger, waiting for his reply.
Lubius Daringdawdle |
Me? A duergar? Oh you surely don't get out much.
With a backflip, landing into a lovely dance move, and 1/rd inspire courage for flair:
I am the renowned Gnome bard Lubius Daringdawdle, of the Kyonin Daringdawdles.
Looking to Elsa: But you can just call me Master Lubius.
Backflip - Acrobatics: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21
Dance - Perform Dance: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 35
Father Burdock |
And sorry; my campaign didn't update this!
"What in Torag's beard?!", Burdock shocked by the newcomer's arrival. "What are you doing here?", the dwarf still confused at the situation.
GM Chyro |
Lubius speaks of his situation, with Elsa likely ignoring the whole ' master' addition to his name.
Still feeling slightly woozy from the strange portal, Lubius passes on combat for now, looking to draw experience from seeing the team of hardy adventurers in action.
Something he'd see quite quickly thereafter, too.
After opening the door, a weathered carpet leads the group along to a larger war room, with a door to the southwest.
Four duergar stand at a round table, three in armor, and a glowing rune on their helmets.
If anyone wants to heal up, might be the time.

Draining the last of his wand, Burdock sticks it in his backpack. "All she's got, and I best leave some of my magics for whats ahead."
GM Chyro |

But apparently his string was stuck somewhat and when released takes the bolt only two feet out of the crossbow before it falls unto the ground. Grint curses and reloads the crossbow with a fresh bolt.

Elsa moves forward and places a shield of Ice in front of her.
Come on boys. Let's not cower.

Power attack Fauchard+df: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 111d10 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21
Jadwiga Elsa Harcatha |
Elsa begins gathering the elemental power that courses within her!
She unleashes it in front of the dwarves, creating an Ice Slick to impede their progress. The Ice acts as a Grease spell and is DC17
Elsa accepts 1 burn to make the ice stick around for a while.
Grint Mavric |
Grint takes a 5-foot step north and releases another bolt at red.
Sinle Bolt, Deadly Aim, PBS, Moved: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 10 + 1 + 1 - 2 = 201d8 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 13
Then reloads the crossbow.

Father Burdock |
"May Torag's light bring you to your knees!" Burdock casts a spell, assaulting the grouped duergar with a blast of blessed light!
Burst of Radiance on the three visible duergar
Damage: 5d4 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 3, 4) = 14
Blue duration: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Green duration: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Red duration: 1d4 ⇒ 3
They must make a DC 15 Reflex save or be blinded for the duration listed. If they pass, they are blinded for the duration listed. Don't forget about light sensitivity for the duergar on this roll
GM Chyro |
They suffer penalty on attack rolls in those areas.
Ref Blue, natural resistance: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11
Ref Green, natural resistance: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 2 = 14
Ref Red, natural resistance: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 2 = 7
All three duergar are too slow to properly react, and are blinded.

Elsa's hair begins to rise as the elemental power storms around her in a torrent Gather Power
She unleashes it at the nearby Duergar Green
Blast: 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 2 + 1 = 18
Damage: 3d6 + 2 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3, 6, 5) + 2 + 4 + 1 = 21*1.5=30 cold dam and DC 17 reflex or be entangled.
Just fyi I think I've been calculating damage wrong this whole time. It's 3d6+(1/2con)+(double elemental overflow)+1(pointblank)
GM Chyro |
From where you two are standing, the duergar are behind total cover of their shields, in effect you can't attack them from your current position.
I'm guessing not many games feature foes wielding tower shields. :)
Sivar Soulscar |

Well seeing as you didn't mention they were tower shields we couldn't have known what we were facing. A tower shield is very different to a large shield and very obvious. A tower shield does not protect from spells, the caster can just target the shield.
GM Chyro |
All the armored duergar place their shields before them, obstructing them from view, and move south as a wall of metal.
I looked for a specific tower shield dwarf pic, to add. I thought that was, along with the description above, enough hints.
(Teasing smile: nor did you guys ask if they were, in fact, large shields or tower shields.)Jadwiga Elsa Harcatha |
That's fine.
Instead Elsa uses Grease (Slick) to coat a shield in slippery Ice. DC17 Reflex or drop the shield.
Grint Mavric |
Grint moves north and fires a bolt in the back of red.
Ranged Attack, PBS, Deadly Aim, Moved: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 10 + 1 + 1 - 2 = 301d8 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 14
Crit confirm: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 191d8 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
They should not be able to get their Shield bonus vs me, nor their Dex added because they're blinded.
GM Chyro |
Fwiw, his shield wouldn't drop, being strapped to his arm.
The brace at his hand would slip, though, removing the block and AC.
Reflex Red: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
The evil dwarf firmly holds his shield, which doesn't prevent Grint from moving and bolting his shoulder.
