Back story:

Brent’s family was sentenced to debt slavery, and that was the life he knew as a child. Forbidden from weapons he found that he could fight and survive with his bare hands. He worked under Naldred Tillman, a hard but fair master. Life in the fields was tough, but they were fed well, and their community was a close one. Eventually he was freed as his family’s debt was paid. Once freed he was at a loss as what to do. Naldred gave him some advice. ‘Go out into the world and find some worth in yourself. Show you deserve your freedom. Then return, and we will see what you have made for yourself’
Brent set forth, seeking worth and fortune. A slave no more.
