Beerg |

Beerg takes a step back in preparation for the coming battle, using the wall to his right to limit the chances of being surrounded.
Lets Do this Kraz!!!! Beerg says with a snarl in his voice.

Jack O' the Shadows |

Jack waits until Nilelane has moved her lights back to illuminate the enemy before he lets another quarrel fly from his crossbow.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
crit: 1d8 ⇒ 1
Sneak: 1d6 ⇒ 4
That has got to be the saddest crit I have ever rolled...two 1's!!!! I like the crit rule where you do 1 dice max damage then roll the second and add you bonuses...at least that way it resembles an actual crit..lol

GM Hewy |

Jack's bolt hits the lead orc-thing in the thigh, and blood begins streaming from the wound. It roars in pain. Despite your double 1s, you've bloodied it Jack. But yeah, 9 out of a possible 25 kinda sucks.
The half-orc shouts at the rest of the creatures and charges forward, engaging Beerg with his greatsword.
Greatsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Beerg easily deflects the blow, and a shower of dirt and pebbles erupts from the ground where the huge sword strikes.
Your go Beerg. Give him hell.

Beerg |

Beerg bellows back at the half orc in orcish
"You fool! you will not defeat us. Assist us in ridding the evil and you will be spared"
Initimidation: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Beerg defelcting the greatsword and sending it flying past his body and into the ground retaliates against his kind.
maul: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
dam: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 3) + 3 = 7
Can i do an insight check into the half orcs motives or who this Kurastan is?
insight/religion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
gonna have to check this great sword post battle should we survive as i should be using a greatsword not maul I've realised being a Torm acolyte

Beerg |

shit, what awesome rolls!!! whats this inspiration do again? haha

Sorin Greystone |

s#+#, what awesome rolls!!! whats this inspiration do again? haha
It can be used to gain advantage on one roll. DM’s discretion on whether it can be used pre or post rolls.

Beerg |

So do i just re roll the hit and take the lowest of the 2? Sorry for the vague questions guys, as i mentioned never played 5e before and the PH doesnt really give me much

Beerg |

Cheers Nilelane, you've been a wealth of knowledge.
ISPIRATION
Maul: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
DAM: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 4) + 3 = 13

Sorin Greystone |

Cheers Nilelane, you've been a wealth of knowledge.
ISPIRATION
[dice= Maul] 1d20 + 5
[dice=DAM] 2d6 + 3
Damage rerolls are not covered under inspiration. Your original rolls were 3,1, you may be able to refill the 1 if you have great weapon fighting style from 2nd lvl Paladin.

Beerg |

Cheers Sorin. Got it. Makes more sense that way too wit the dis/advantage as Nilelane said. Glad I have you guys around to help here. Thasnk for the reminder on great weapon fighting style too. Feel free to remind me as i miss this.
GWFS re roll: 1d6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 3 = 10 (3 + 3) from the initial roll with out the 1. Hope that's correct?

GM Hewy |

Having turned aside the hostile half-orc's blade, Beerg smashes his maul into his opponent's side. The half-orc grunts in pain but readies his blade to strike again.
The furry-looking orc hybrids rush out after their leader, the one that Jack shot in the leg heading for Beerg, the other two engaging Kraz.
Greatsword at Beerg: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Greatsword at Kraz: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Greatsword at Kraz: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Both Beerg and Kraz deftly turn aside their opponents' attacks.
Kraz, Sorin to end the round, Nilelane and Jack to kick off Round 2.

Sorin Greystone |

Sorin using the stone for cover moves unseen into flanking position with one of the furry-orcs facing
o9 assuming she was not known I’ll roll advantage on the first attack.
Quarterstaff: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 Advantage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Even with the advantage of being unseen, Sorin uncharacteristically stumbles on some loose stone causing her balance to be off for the attack. grumblestupiddice
As she recovers, she says a short prayer to Torm for strength. Strangely, she feels as though her prayer is answered and holy energy begins to course through her. Feeling faster but understanding it will not last long she strikes out again with her quarterstaff.
Quarterstaff: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 for Bludgeoning Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Sorin steps back. Her defense set, looks at her staff and her hands holding it for a moment in wonder. Had her god actually answered her prayer?

Kraz Thadoom |

Kraz roars..
"Death to the rubbish!!"
before swinging his sword in a decapitating arc.
Attacking one of the ones one him.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Dam: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 5) + 3 = 10

Jack O' the Shadows |

Jack again moves into a position to capitalize on the enemies weak points. He fires his crossbow at whatever one is still standing (or the one he hit last time if both are still up)
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

GM Hewy |

Kraz swings at one of the furry orcs, and while the creature gets its blade up, its arm collapses under the weight of the blow. Kraz's sword still crashes into its body, and he feels the crunch of cracking bones beneath his weapon. The orc-thing at p6 is bloodied.
Sorin leaps out from hiding, flanking the regular half-orc. His chain mail defeats her first blow, but she strikes again, this time at his unarmoured head. The half-orc tries to roll with it, but still wears a solid blow, and staggers beneath it. He's also bloodied.
Nilelane, then Jack's action takes effect. Must say, you've all started rather well here. No one's been hit yet...

GM Hewy |

Nilane's icy spell attack fires into the ceiling above the combatants, causing a fine mist of icy particles to float down over the melee. Jack fires at his previous target, engaged as it is with Beerg, but the bolt instead hits the half-orc paladin...
Houserule time. I said if an attack misses but would have hit if the target didn't have cover, it hits the thing giving cover. In this case, Jack's attack would have hit, but Beerg is giving it a +2 to AC as he blocks one corner of the target's square (every target is currently getting cover from either Beerg or Kraz, so there were no better options). However, Beerg is heavily armoured, and I find it unrealistic that it should just hit Beerg because it would have hit the enemy. This could result in situations where, given the choice of two enemies, your best strategy would be to attack the lightly armoured one behind a heavily armoured one, as it would give you a better mathematical chance to hit the heavily armoured one. Silly.
So, I'm going to roll a d10+10. If that beats Beerg's AC, it hits him. If not, it misses. If anyone thinks this rule sucks, we can chat about it on the discussion thread and change it for next time.
Bolt vs Beerg: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
...Fortunately, the bolt bounces off Beerg's heavy armour, causing no damage.
The half-orc, apparently the squad leader from the way he is still ordering the others around the battlefield, swings at Beerg with a blinding flurry of blows, benefiting from the distraction that his furry orc-thing ally is providing.
Greatsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Greatsword adv: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Greatsword multiattack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Greatsword multiattack adv: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Dmg: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4) + 3 = 10
Dmg: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 2) + 3 = 8
Yikes. That's 18 damage, Beerg. Your turn now!

Beerg |

Beerg struggling to comprehend the multiple attacks hes just taken responds straight back with a desperate and wailing swing whilst screaming in pain. ARRRRGHHHHH, have at you!!!!
maul: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
dam: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 4) + 3 = 9
dam: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 total 13 dam 7 from damage and 6 extra from re reoll of 2

GM Hewy |

Beerg's target howls in pain as the maul crushes into his chest. He looks pretty messed up after that attack.
F3: 1d6 ⇒ 5
B save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
B save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
The furry orc hybrid beside Beerg slashes out at the paladin with his two-handed weapon, trying to drop Beerg before he becomes the target of his maul.
Greatsword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Dmg: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 3) + 4 = 11
Beerg drops to the ground under the orc-thing's blow. Death save on your turn Beerg.
The other two move to flank Kraz, swinging their blades all the while.
Greatsword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Greatsword adv: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Greatsword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Greatsword adv: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Dmg: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1) + 4 = 7
Dmg: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 1) + 4 = 10
Kraz takes a number of serious blows in the exchange for 17 damage!
K save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Kraz feels his wounds burning, more so than normal slashing wounds. A deep weakness sets into this muscles almost immediately.
Kraz you are poisoned! Disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks! Things are heating up!
Kraz and Sorin up now, then Nilelane and Jack to start Round 3.

Sorin Greystone |

Any chance of being able to identify these brutal creatures? These aren’t the same things we fought before right?
INT: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Guess not
Sorin sees Beerg collapse and tries to pay the creature back with a whack to the back of the head.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 for 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Following that with a knee to the creature’s back.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 for 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
And a kick to the side of the head.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 for 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
ugh!
If the creature drops Sorin will step back behind the stone.
This is not good

Kraz Thadoom |

Why do they have advantage?
Kraz will use his inspiration to try and make the posion save.
1d20 ⇒ 4 oh well..
Is that a con roll? If so it should be +4, not +3 for future reference.

Beerg |

Shits heating up alright. does my relentless endurance help here?
Save: 1d20 ⇒ 14

GM Hewy |

Why do they have advantage?
Flanking. Like Sorin did previously. I actually forgot the DMG had flanking rules until Sorin did it!
Kraz will use his inspiration to try and make the posion save.
1d20 oh well..
Is that a con roll? If so it should be +4, not +3 for future reference.
Oh right, I can see the +4 on your profile, but I just looked at the spoiler on your status line, it says +3... Didn't make a difference, unfortunately :/
S%!$s heating up alright. does my relentless endurance help here?
Save: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Right you are, forgot about relentless endurance, you're on 1 hp! And I'll use that roll against one poison hit, which is a save... let me roll another for you for the second hit :)
Con save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Retcon: Beerg sways under the blows from the half-orc in front of him, but his orcish fortitude keeps him on his feet. He feels the burn of poison in his wounds, but doesn't succumb to it.
You're still up to act Kraz.

Sorin Greystone |

I did not use adv due to flanking. I used adv because I was unseen. So I had adv on the first attack.

GM Hewy |

I did not use adv due to flanking. I used adv because I was unseen. So I had adv on the first attack.
Oh ok, moving to the flanking position opposite Beerg also granted advantage, I assumed that's why you moved there specifically. Just so you know, you still have advantage, now that Beerg's still up :)

Kraz Thadoom |

Whoops.. Fixed that line.
Kraz despirately tries to drop one of the ones on him.
Attacking the same one as last time. He attacks recklessly as well to offset the disadvantage. This has deffinitely been a lesson in saving rages..
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Dam: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3) + 3 = 8
Dam rolls have been great.. Hopefully it doesn't have more than 18 hp I guess..

GM Hewy |

Kraz lunges ferociously at the wounded creature, and slices it from shoulder to opposite hip. He tries desperately to shake the already dead creature off his blade, and does so, but gives the other creature a momentary opportunity to strike him...
Sorin you would have advantage here, but with a 17 you don't need it...
Sorin smashes the half-orc leader with that nearly dropped Beerg with her staff, almost caving in his skull, but like Beerg his orcish blood keeps him on his feet...
Sorin's advantage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
However, before the half-orc can spin around to face her, Sorin drives her knee into his back, and feels his spine snaps beneath the blow. The half-orc drops to the ground between Sorin and Beerg, gurgling. She then melts back into the darkness, hiding again behind the rock.
Nilelane and Jack to start Round 3!

Nilelane |
Nilelane sidesteps and tosses one of orbs across the fray to illuminate Kraz' target. At the same time she reaches into her pocket dimension and generates another glacial ray...
Ray of Frost, Kraz' target: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 1 and 10ft speed reduction
"It's getting nippy in here!" she informs everyone.

GM Hewy |

Nilelane's blast of cold energy hits the orc hybrid in the shoulder, and it roars in pain (or at Nilelane's joke?), though the damage seems minimal.
Jack and Beerg to act. Status update on the remaining two enemies: the one at o5 is bleeding from numerous wounds as well as slowed, and the one at n7 is still uninjured.

Beerg |

Beerg barely catching his breath after his last swing but seeing the unscathed Orc in front of him, heaves his maul upwards towards its mid region in a ditched attempt to bring it down.
maul: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
dam: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 5) + 3 = 12

Beerg |

Perfect time for a CRIT attack Jack, just sayin..... :s

Sorin Greystone |

Jack, don’t forget that you have your cunning action now. You can use it to hide and get advantage on attacks against creatures that can’t see you. If you are a Lightfoot halfling you can even hide behind us since we are one size larger to get the same effect. You only get one attack, gotta make it count lol.

GM Hewy |

These boys are only wearing hide armour, so even with the +2 AC for cover from Beerg, Jack still hits :) That orc-hybrid isn't actually wounded before Jack's hit, but those rolls for damage...
The orc-thing in front of the severely wounded Beerg raises itsgreatsword, the blade poised to deliver a killing blow, but Jack's bolt takes him through the throat, and it drops its sword and falls to the ground with a gurgle.
Seeing you rolled so well Beerg...
Beerg, seeing his opponent drop, rushes up next to the staggering Kraz, and brings his maul to bear on the last remaining shaggy orc, crushing it and driving it into the ground.
All nasties down. Good rolls for the last round! Updating XP now.

Beerg |

Beerg walks towards the once leader of the pack and picks up his greatsword. Torm let this serve me well [\b] He collects his thoughts and mumbles under his breath to the corpse [b] This could have been avoided. His heads shakes looking at his kind lifeless on the ground.
Turning back to the group we are going to have to find somewhere to rest or head back to re group. I feel there is far more to these tunnels than we are yet aware off. This orc reffered to another above him... a Kurastan, at least we have a name.

Kraz Thadoom |

Kraz breathes a sigh of relief when the last one drops..
Pretty hairy there Kraz thinks. Those beaties got me poisoned with something..
Not sure how to get unposioned in 5th

Beerg |

i think i can cure poison with 5 Lay on Hands points but i think i need to rest to get the ones from the level up?

Sorin Greystone |

it may be times based. Let’s do a medicine check first to see if we can learn more.
For a moment, Sorin stares at her hands holding the quarterstaff. Her got had granted her power. Her faith strengthened beyond measure she comes back from behind the stone when she hears Kraz mention his condition. ”Let’s take a look, see how bad it is. I agree though, we need to find a place to rest. “
Medicine: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

GM Hewy |

Sorin can tell that the poison will indeed run its course given time, but she is unsure of what that time frame is.
The tunnels are silent and black, and lead in every direction.
You have come from the northwest. There are a multitude of tunnels leading in all directions, but you only really need to choose between northeast, southeast, southwest, or back the way you came.

Jack O' the Shadows |

After searching the bodies of the dead orc-things, Jack looks over the party.
"Well we got pretty beat up in that encounter. Perhaps we should fall back and rest for a bit before continuing. What do you all think?"

GM Hewy |

Jack rummages through the bodies of the fallen half-orc and his band of shaggy orc-things. All of them were wielding greatswords, the blades coated with the same substance that the first huge, shaggy creature used. The half-orc is wearing a chain shirt, and also has a vial of dark liquid exactly the same as that worn by the big furry beast from the earlier battle (the one that Nilelane attempted to taste!). He also has a small pouched tucked away that holds 10 gp, 14 sp, and 8 cp.
The shaggy-looking orcs all wear hide armour, and wear little but rags beyond that.
So does the party have a treasurer? Or is someone claiming the coinage and items that you find and putting it in their gear on their PC profile?

Beerg |

Hear me out here crew, but perhaps the Spider lair we were in earlier would be an apt place to rest? Surely these dungeon locals would be fearful of entering there also? We now know its safe where as they would not. Beerg looking at the team for alternative ideas or approval..
