Shrugging her shoulders at the flask of paint, Nilelane peeks into the wind tunnel...

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

I imagine this is like taking a vacuum cleaner to an open mouth, lips eye sockets blowing back off the face, etc ;)

Ha :)

The wind tunnel is a couple of feet off the ground in the wall, and about two and a half feet in diameter. The air from the pool cavern in being continually sucked through it at a great rate, and you see that it continues, relatively straight, for some way into the rock before bending out of sight. The rock at and around the entrance to the hole is black, and looks to be slightly sticky, or greasy.

Looking at Kraz a bit rattled, her hair standing up and every which way as if electrocuted and teeth gently chittering as she shivers "Yes, never throw caution to the wind!" following the half-orc out after sketching the details of the room onto the sprawling map.

"Agreed. We are being paid to map out the area. I would rather not dip too far into the unknown before we have searched everything on this side of the cave. Maybe even go back for a rest before carrying on..what do you think of that?"

So here is Nilelane's map. Turns out she's a pretty good mapper. I did note that she forgot to include a scale and title, but apart from that, hopefully you can all get the gist of where you've been and what's happened where. You're all currently near the altar at the north-east of the map. I'll link it up top of the page too.

Ooh, cool map. :D My fuzzy-select-tool sense is tingling

Nilelane already fell asleep on the floor.

...which is extra odd considering her elven physiology. But she springs up suddenly at the mention of going back to town "Time for tea?"

Sorin readies herself to dive in the pool, but the conversation turns to heading back to the Twisted Tower, or at least previously unexplored areas. She turns back to the party and rejoins them as they make their way back to the crevice they entered through.

As Nilelane makes to send a dancing ball of light up through the crevice, her darkvision allows her to see a large shaggy figure start entering the narrow passage from the other end. It seems to see the light up ahead, however, as it hurriedly disappears out of view, back around the corner from where it came.

What are you all doing? I'm going to assume you're all very close to the crevice mouth, so you are all aware of the creature up ahead, but still in view if anyone were to look down it (and illuminated by dancing lights).

Beerg spotting the the creature and seeing Kraz ready his weapon steps forward to where it was spotted. Lets keep our wits about us here team.

So just to clarify (and referencing this area map may help), you're all currently at the northeastern end of the very tight tunnel that connects the kidney bean-shaped altar room to the rest of the tunnel maze. The shaggy figure was seen at the other end of this tight tunnel. Not only is the tunnel tight, it also climbs upwards from where you are to the other end. So Beerg, are you squeezing up through the entrance tunnel, and Kraz, are you following him?

Nilelane's hairs on the back of her fair elven neck stand straight up as she sense the half-orcs walking into a possible bottleneck. She tugs at the humid cavern air and thickens it, twisting it with arcane energy until it glows a soft purple, and letting this cloud of fog billow forth around them as they advance out the crevis...

Silent image to make a big cloud of pink smoke around them as they squeeze up through there...

Okay, that's a reasonable tactic. Going to assume that the whole party can see through the illusion, as they know Nilelane has cast it. It's kind of like the pink cloud is very lightly overlaid over reality, so you're all aware of it, but able to see through it.

Covered by Nilelane's illusory cloud, the party advances through the tunnel (in combat order). As the party is about halfway down the tunnel, Beerg leading the way, the head and shoulders of a black-skinned, white-haired elf slowly pokes around the south corner of the exit, small crossbow raised. His eyes squint in confusion, then he lets fly with the hand-held crossbow down the narrow crevice.

HH Xbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
HH Xbow disad: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

You all see the crossbow pointing down the tunnel at you, and attempt to make yourselves as small as possible by ducking. The bolt flies overhead, clattering into the rock wall of the tunnel. The drow frowns and retreats back around the corner.

Going to assume your ears are straining, so going to make Perception rolls rather than use Passive Perception here.

Beerg is only 10 feet from the tunnel exit, the rest of you in a line behind him. What are you all doing?

Here's a map of where you are. Sorry for the small size, I'm looking at it on 200% zoom and it's still pretty little. If anyone's having problems, let me know and I'll resize it.

..to find multiple enemies on either side of the tunnel entrance. To the north, two shaggy orc-things holding greatswords hug the near wall, with a full-blooded orc with a greataxe behind them. Nilelane, I'm going to go with the idea that your illusion reaches to the end of the tunnel, so Beerg is partially visible. You can move it on your turn.

Apologies, I've changed the map to edit, so go for it!

Also Jack, you can jump in with your turn at any time, there's a clear enough path that you can get out to attack creatures now.

The furry orcs roar at seeing one of their number cut down, and regardless of Nilelane's convincing charade, charge into the fray, and the illusory smoke! Their eyes widen as they realise it's an illusion, but they don't seem to think to communicate that to their allies.

Kraz meets his charging orc thing with a roar in response, and though its blade slams into his side, it doesn't penetrate the armour properly. Still, while a lesser man would have crumpled under the blow, Kraz seems not to notice (3 damage)

Beerg manages to parry and deflect multiple blows of two of the creatures, though he is pressed sorely.

Sorin and Beerg up, with Jack to interject with his turn whenever he likes.

Okay, so I thought Nilelane's cloud was in a slightly different position... So given where the illusory cloud is, the shaggy orcs would have charged in and attacked where they knew Kraz and Beerg to be before Nilelane rolled the illusion over their positions. So their attacks would have been with disadvantage, and they wouldn't realise the cloud is an illusion yet. Going to roll the disadvantage die for the attack that hit Kraz.

Jack, the drow is the only creature who hasn't interacted with the illusion. As such, he can't see you, so you get advantage against him. Want to roll advantage on that? :)

Edit: Also, I think if Jack is right behind and adjacent to Sorin, she can't provide cover for the drow. The shaggy thing can however, and so grants +2 AC to Mr Drow. If you would have hit but for that, you will likely hit the shaggy orc instead.
