He retaliates with another wild swing

Jack's bolt hits the beast in the upper body again, and it howls in fury, beginning to foam at the mouth. However, before it can attack, Kraz steps up, smashing it in the upper leg, snapping the bone. The creature falls to the ground, blood pouring from its wounds, still snarling and kicking, but hardly clinging to consciousness.

Nice, it was totally about to frenzy. Not good if that happens! 450 XP more. Sorin's still down, what are the rest of you doing?

Nilelane rushes to Sorin's side, desperately trying to reinsert her intestines back into the gaping wound in her side...

Beerg caught up in battle hears Jacks calls for assistance. Seeing Sorins badly wounded makes Beerg take a second to realise he has not helped a friend over attempts to slay a foe. He rushes to Sorins side pushing others out of the way in his anxiousness to help.

Lay on Hands

He slaps his hand together in a louder than normal clap and begins to to talk in a monotone and deeper voice.
Hail Torm! Hail the True!
For thou have blessed thee.
And the essence of Duty is in thee.
For my soul I’ll give for thou.
In achieving my duties for thee.
For a lifetime with nothing to do.
Will leave the soul and spirit empty.

He brings his hands apart and places them firmly on Sorins body. Her body moves under the pressure, alsomt enough to make others feel awkward to the potential damage it could do and continues.

I salute thee, the Loyal Fury

Sorin’s eyes open. The blessing of Torm filling her soul. She blinks for a moment and looks up at Beerg. Smiling she asks ”Did we win?” Sitting up, she allows her friend to help her stand. ”Torm be praised! The creature spun around faster than expected. I was not able predict an appropriate defensive maneuver. Thankyou my friend.” She takes Beerg’s forearm in a warriors handhsake often used by Tormites.

The creatures wear no clothing; they are covered only by their dirty, shaggy, off-white fur, and so have no pockets. However, the one the held the greatsword has a small stoppered glass vial hanging from a thin leather thong around its neck. The glass is poorly made, and difficult to see through, but it appears to hold a viscous black liquid.

He then looks at the others, "Does anyone know what these things are? And... Is eveyone else ok?" his look moving towards Nilelane and stopping expecting she may be able to shed some light.

After a moments pause "We may want to keep moving. That kerfuffle could have alerted others..."

Looking to Jack "Can you keep your sharp eyes peeled for any other surprises?"

Healing Potion: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 1) + 2 = 4

Sorin takes a pull on the potion of healing given to her. ”I feel better, but it had a funny taste. I think it may be old. Hopefully you were all given fresh potions.” Disapointed, she puts the empty bottle back in her backpack.

Nilelane continues crying despite Sorin being back on her feet and whole again, but it is not as if its the first time. She saunters and slithers around to the hulking corpse, fetching the vial from its neck "...a special draught for a special man..." she dips a pinky and takes just a tiny taste.

@Nilelane as a general rule, happy to do that. This case, however, is slightly different, so I've gone with a strong hint about what it is. The check wasn't to identify it per se.

Sorin inspects her wounds and finds that although they are not still open and gushing life blood, they are still quite nasty to look at and very tender to the touch. ”It seems the potion has not been very effective. I am not completely healed.” She says with some concern. ”I would certainly not complain if I were to have another potion. Thankyou Jack. “ Sorin takes Jack’s potion and imbibes it’s contents.

The minimum heal from a second potion is enough to max her HPs. If we come to another situation like this, perhaps a short rest would be a better alternative.

After retrieving her dart from the fallen creature, Sorin let’s everyone know that she is ready to continue.

I love that you tasted it Nilelane, its these things that make it interesting, just like Beerg deciding to just hip and shoulder the door. Cant always be thoroughly thought through :)

An illusion of tiny chickens bursts from her mouth "Fowl." setting the nastiness aside.

The thief looks at Nilelane as her illusionary chickens slowly begin to fade.

"Right, so let's see where those hairy lumps of ugly came from!"

Sweet, so going to assume the standard marching order from now on when you move from an area, unless told otherwise. That order is Beerg, Kraz, Nilelane, Jack, Sorin. I'll also sometimes put you two abreast, with Nilelane behind Beerg and Jack behind Kraz (Sorin alone in the third row). Again, let me know at any stage if this isn't what you want. Rest assured I'm not going to try to screw you over with positioning, I will, as a rule, put you in favourable positions rather than unfavourable ones.

The party continues out of the large cavern, and enters a reasonably small natural tunnel. The only sounds other than those you make are the occasional drip, drip of water. The glowing orbs summoned by Nilelane are stretched out in front and behind you, and the jagged walls of rock through sharp black shadows everywhere you look.

After a thousand feet or so of twisting cave, the tunnel starts to bend consistently to the right, heading slightly upwards as it does. After another hundred feet or so, an irregular natural cavern opens up to your left. You are dissuaded from searching it too closely, as it reeks of animal waste, piles of which are clearly visible from the cavern opening. If you want to explore it let me know - be aware you will likely end up covered in poop!

Moving on, the tunnel continues to climb gently to the right. Just as you feel like you have completed a full circle, the tunnel bears left, continuing on. At this juncture, you also see a fairly large oval hole at ground level, about four feet high and seven or eight wide. A few tufts of dirty white fur are caught on a protruding rock at the top of the opening. Bending down for a look reveals that after a couple of feet, the hole opens up into a room, although how big, and what it holds, you can't be sure.

"Be careful Jack!" Beerg whispers as he slithers off.
Beerg grips his maul in anticpation

Nilelane prestidigitations a mostly poop-free path (cleaning 1 ft^3 at a time) trying to understand the purpose of the place...if any, besides just a toilet. At least she can get the dimensions of the room for her map. Absent-mindedly she gets a few racing stripes on the bottom of her robes as she goes...

Investigation: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

Wiping up poop = medieval ruler

Sorry Nilelane, nothing but poop in that room!

Jack crouches down and makes his way through the hole, which opens up into an irregularly shaped room some 30' by 40'. It is messily littered with bones, scraps of some cooked meat, and other common items, mostly dirty and broken (a short section of rope, some iron spikes, a ruined lantern), which are scattered around the area. A small hole in the far left wall seems to contain a glint of metal.

Jack motions the others to move forward as he goes and examines the glint from the other hole.

Nilelane emerges somewhat shakily from the small, nasty alcove "...a perfect map...a perfect map..." she mumbles over and over. A glance at her parchment however reveals a crude sketch of an older woman holding hands with a small girl. The girl is crossed out with a large X. She must have another page hidden behind with the real map.

She quickly follows Jack at his urging scanning over the broken items with some interest. She tries to place the approximate age of the lantern by its craftsmanship...

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Jack beckons the others into the room, then moves across the room following the glimmer of treasure. Nilelane moves in too, as does Beerg, and while Nilelane bends to pick up a lantern, Beerg hurries towards Jack. Sorin skirts around the left wall, almost becoming one with the rock.

Sorin sees it all happen. From right beside her ear, a huge spider launches, apparently from a hole in the wall beside the monk, apparently not noticing her. It leaps across the room towards Jack, but as it does the half-orc paladin reaches the side of the young rogue. Beerg roars in pain as it sinks its mandibles into his neck. Beerg, take 6 regular damage, but you made your save, so you only take 2 poison damage (for a total of 8 hp).

Kraz hears the sudden noise, and though he can't see what's going on, he is the first to react. Kraz, difficult terrain to get through the hole, so that takes 20', it is more than 20' from there, so you will be able to close by using both actions to move but you won't be able to melee it this round.

Doesn't look great for Beerg! Kraz, Jack, Sorin, you're up!

EDIT: I'm not going to do a map, as only Beerg is adjacent to it, and you're all close enough to reach it, or strafe to get a clear shot if you want.

Sorry to be a bother since you didnt want to do a map, but it would affect my choice to cast grease here or not. How far from the wall is the spider and what size is it (I assume large)? If 10 or less I could grease between the wall and Beerg and get a few save vs prone checks off it by getting some meleers to block its movement out of the grease along with the wall. If its farther, probably just one check. So that makes a slight difference, thanks!

It's 15 from the wall, unfortunately, so it could get out of grease with one successful check, maybe two. I can do a map, it just won't be for the next 15 hours or thereabouts :) I'll do my best to have something up before your turn.

Its fine, I just needed the info. No map is ok. Probably overthinking it anyways

Nilelane pulls a dainty, classy butter dish with a duck motif carrying a slightly melted stick of butter on it from her pocket, with small pieces of lint in it. She brings it up to her mouth and blows as hard as she can, and suddenly a magical vortex explodes and takes the greasy oils flinging them through the air and multiplying them in a raucous boil before splattering all over the spider and the floor beneath with a gross noise that curdles the spine *ffffgghghh* (Avoiding meleer's squares of course. Grease spell Dex 13 vs prone now and beginning of turns, and becomes difficult terrain)
