Sure, I'll attach one now. I was waiting to get my posts up about how I want to do initiative and AoO's, but discussion is probably the right place for that anyway.

Another killer story.

Nailed the location of the access point to the underdark. Did you look that up?

Thanks :)

Nope. Just made it up :)

I hope you guys have fun! I have a couple questions though for submitting a character when the main campaign takes off:

1. Will you accept Aasimar alternative heritages? Some of them are pretty tied to Golarion as a campaign setting, but I'd love to play the Garuda-blooded variant (and maybe even re-flavor it to be a half harpy man) that worships Freya.

2. Zen Archery, yay or nay?

Ok, yes, I was going to bring this up too.

If you want the backstory to stay in the background, there are armies in the grand duchy or city of Reme that would do fine. Those are nearby significant places the campaign won't take us t0 (at least I hope not, I have nothing prepped for them!)

Actually the adventure technically starts with the party meeting in Reme but a handwaive and some boxed text later and that's all in the rear-view mirror. (I may have mentioned earlier, it's a railroady and kind of cringeworthy beginning lol).

If you would rather have his soldiering history in the foreground there are a few different factions in Bard's Gate that could be interesting for him to have belonged too.

Hm, I'm open to the idea of doing things in the foreground. Could lead to some interesting roleplay options. I wonder if there's a good fit for Bard's Gate though?

My idea is basically that Damien grew up poor and destitute, eventually ended up on the wrong side of some bad people and enlisted as a means of escape. He took to soldiering well, being of a mind to listen to the veterans and soak up everything he could. Soon found himself as a Lieutenant in charge of a small squad. After a short career of little destinction, a botched mission cost the lives of his squad. Blame had to be laid somewhere and it ended up at Damien's feet. A dishonerable discharge later, he was a free man trying to get by. His only worthwhile training being in soldiering he hires out as a sellsword and ends up with the rest of our motley crew.

My idea so far kind of places him in a fairly large military force, if there is something that might be suitable in Bard's gate let me know. If not, the grand duchy will work just as well.

Other than that I think I'm all set whenever we're ready to move forward. This should be a great deal of fun!

Damien join us in the discussion thread. I'll get back to you soon on the questions, have to break out my Bard's Gate sourcebook.

I may have the Bard's gate source book on pdf, I have like 300 GB of D&D pdf files.

I'll go through some of the files see if I have it. I know I have several books from that publisher

Yeah I bought the pdf on here and it's not a great scan, some parts are illegible! I have an old hard-copy too though.

Please, please, please be careful not to read any Bard's Gate spoilers if you plan to participate in this campaign long term. That would really detract from your enjoyment and mine, it will potentially be a partially intrigue based campaign by the time it gets to Bard's Gate.

Hey, about my question?

1. No

3.Yes

May be a chance to play sooner the expected, I am trying to get something together so Edward doesn't get left out.

Thanks! I didn't notice that typo there before. I'll go ahead and work something up then.

Okay, what the H*ll is up with Zen Archers? Seriously, every one who plays a monk (Grimmy knows my feeling about monks in general) now makes a Zen Archer. Is that some sort of seriously broken archetype that just dwarfs everything else?

It's probably the best monk, yeah.

It's certainly the easiest to make extremely powerful.

The Exchange

I won't say its broken, but it certainly looks like a lot of fun (and the first monk I've ever made).

I prefer characters that are fun to play over power. I don't usually care if I am the weakest power wise, as long as I bring something to the game and the group, then I am happy.

kind of like my changeling ninja/monk at my table game. she is more trouble than help most of the time.

lets see... she was put in charge of the party treasure and allowed a very powerful magic dagger get stolen. (Well actually, she gave it away by accident). she was told to not let anyone touch the evil radiating alter to a demon lord. and instead she ends up falling on top of it.

she manged to accidentally claw the Paladin's horse when they first met. and also managed to convice the townfolk she was a mighty oracle with visions of the future; and tried to arrange for the party barbarian to be married.

yeah she is a lot of fun, even if the party hates her.

There are several strong archetypes for monk. My last one was a terror in combat but his social skills were useless.

I so want to post in discussion...

Sharpe is got to be one of the only shows with Sean Bean and he didn't die.

well here is Janna's alias:

Edward of course you can post in discussion. If this goes right we will end up with multiple groups in the same sandbox playground, and the impact of one group on the world will be felt by the other group. Could be lots of fun.

Gotta go offline for awhile, looking forward to catching up with you all later.

if anyone has comments or suggestions for Janna let me know..I will be happy to listen.

I just went ahead and created a magic academy but I didn't specify where it was located so if this is not feasible I need to know so I can change the story of Janna.

link to Janna's profile

I'm going to PM you about an idea, if it's in the cards, Janna may actually have a very important role to play.

Yeah that's a better way of putting it :)

Anyone who missed recruitment for The Wizard's Amulet, The Mouth of Doom is still open.

Recruitment now open for Valley of the Shrines.
