Ye Old Storyteller |

Hi guys and welcome to the Village Hall Disccusion Thread.
Here you can discuss your next plans of course and ask me questions outside the gameplay thread.
What I'd really like you to do here is post and discuss your background here.
I'll give you some extra information on the village you grew up in.
It is the end of January in the year 1165 AS (After the Silence). Your village of Greenbrook lays inside the human kingdom of Erathia, in an area bordering the swampy territory of Tatalia to the north and the rough and mountainous territory of Krewlod to the south.
Though both neighbouring nations have known conflict with each other, your village never had any problems with either of them. The closest a skirmish between the two nations occurred to your village was 20 miles down the road in a bar fight.
Amidst the rough lands to the north and south of you, your village and surrounding lands lay as a haven for the weary traveller. Travellers going west to the city of Tidewater and east to main Erathia, have always found a resting place here. With a growing population of close to 200 people, life has been pretty easy for you all, hard honest work, but peace throughout your years.
Many of the villagers are farmers, most are grain and vegetable farmers, a few hold livestock such as cows, chickens, sheep and horses. As travellers kept coming through the years, a few blacksmiths and armorsmiths have also appeared in the village, offering their trade and expertise in making and repairing tools, horseshoes, armor and weapons.
Feel free to ask any other questions regarding your village or the surrounding lands.

David has never been the physical type. His father taught him from a young age that people will always need caring for. He was taught how to treat basic wounds and how to set sprains caregiver. His father also told him to stick up for himself, David was always charming and a hit with the ladies. Due to this he was often bullied as a little kid, out of jealousy. Due to this, David had to keep a sharp tongue to get himself out of scraps. It didn't always work, but it at least helped a little bit.
David is a third generation herbalist. His father taught him everything he knew. He works hard every day, just like the rest of the village.

Taliesin Flamel |

Taliesin started out in live as a farm boy working in his parent's house. He has been blessed with a powerful body, but was always nice and gentle with other around him. he never used his strength to bully or threatened.
He like people but developed a passion for horses. He left working the field to work with animals. Now employed as a stable boy, he is feeling like he was going somewhere.

Elenzar the Bastard |

Hello checking in.
Elenzar arrived with his family late last summer. One of his family's company, his mother, had taken ill and died. The leader of the company Elenzar's uncle while in town was demanding, rude, a drunk and made it clear that Elenzar was nothing more than a bastard. When the company moved on heading toward their family holdings Elenzar was left behind. Elenzar has proved useful as a scribe for the town elders.

I added up my equipment and I have 2 gp and 2 sp left after paying rent at the inn for tonight. This assumes that the village or an employer has nothing set up for room and board for scribes. If I am paying for my own rent and food when should I roll for a profession check?

Elenzar the Bastard |

First I love the feel of things so far!!!
I have a couple questions.
1-Is there a town militia that will be called upon or would one need to be formed at this point.
2-Is there a standard defense plan or defenses in the town. Is there a wall or central building to hide those not expected to fight. Excetera.

Ye Old Storyteller |

There is not such a thing as a town militia, so far the village has a few strong men to act as brawlers, but not trained warriors or anything. Though most of the tradesmen can wield a weapon of sorts.
The Village Hall is the largest of buildings in the village, enough room to fight in or make a stand, however it is still made out of wood and can catch fire quite easily.
There is also a chapel here, which is made out of stone. It is a safer hide-out for the non-combatants, but it is also smaller and would get crammed if every villager went there.
As it stands there is not much of a defense or defensive structures, the village elders are now working on that to get at least a perimeter around the central buildings.
The other choice people have when the countryside isn't safe anymore is to flee to bigger cities, Tidewater to the west is the biggest around these parts, it is a coastal harbor town. Heartham would have normally been a good bet.

Ye Old Storyteller |

Tidewater would probably be the closest, there are larger towns and castles to the east than there are to the west, but they lie primarily in the mainland of Erathia.
So to answer your question, probably yes, but Heartham has its own walls and protection to retreat to, you obviously have not. If Heartham should fall, refugees would go to Tidewater.

Do David and I have all the goblin gear or were others salvaging. My intention was to not see it go to waste. Only David commented on it so I rped him having a bundle and me having a bundle. If there were more hands in the mix it will adjudt what he snd I are carrying on the horse.

You can divide the gp you get for the armours, weapons and gems anyway you like. In this case, you bothered to pick it up so you might as well keep it or divide it amongst yourselves.
In any case new basic sets of armour and weapons will be provided, further upgrades will cost you.
Correct me if I'm wrong on this:
Nathaniel --> Warrior
Forfax --> Expert
Elenzar --> Warrior
David --> Adept
Talisien --> Warrior?
Also I'll be out tomorrow for the most of the day, feel free to roleplay with each other while I'm gone.

Elenzar the Bastard |

What is everyone's intention for their eventual class. I was thinking magus too Taliesin. I wasn't aware of overlap. I am happy to steer Elenzar toward fighter though I might have had my father's sword be an elven curved blade rather than a rapier.

Ye Old Storyteller |

Warrior or adept is fine with me for magus Taliesin.
I know everyone's preference for PC classes now.
Nathaniel --> Warrior --> Paladin (most probably)
Forfax --> Expert --> Cavalier
Elenzar --> Warrior --> Magus/Fighter
David --> Adept --> Sorcerer
Talisien --> Warrior? --> Magus
Shame to see no Beastmaster among you.
I'd like to see you guys roleplay getting into your new classes though.

Elenzar the Bastard |

You mean the third party class beastmaster or is there or something.
I see we have no full divine caster. Perhaps that is a better direction for me than fighter considering we have a paladin, cavalier and a magus already.

Ye Old Storyteller |

I have another fully developed Beastmaster class of my own Elenzar, take a look at the Recruitment thread, one of my earlier posts contains two links to 3 new races and the Beastmaster Class.
@Forfax The template may not be as you are used to, but the fractions indicate the normal progression of your saves through the levels.
In this case many saves are comparable with the development for other classes. This was just to illustrate our homebrew tabletop rule of advancing saves even though you took a dip into another class.
You can just remove the fractions beside the whole numbers if they bother you, cause they don't add anything in this game.

The pantheon in this world is not quite like Golarions, the countries and people here mostly worship and revere long-lived creatures instead of gods.
Erathia, the human country, is very similar to medieval Europe, worshiping one god and revering the angels that sometimes fly about the country. LG deity with the Good, Law, Community, Nobility and Protection domains.
The elves of AvLee and the Tularean Forest revere the Gold Dragon Queen/ The Gold Dragon Mothers, long-lived magical being(s) that stand at the birth of new dragons and are the epitome of Magic, Good and Nature. NG deity with the Good, Magic, Air and Fire domain. The Knowledge domain tends to be fairly used as well, for they have long lives and long experiences to tell.
Though Tatalia is quite young compared to the other countries, they have a long history of revering the Great Serpent Spirit, Nighall, in their culture. Nighall is a serpent that embodies power and resistance, waiting for the right time to strike. It is said Nighall twists around Tatalia's swamps and marshes and protects its worshipers by sending mosquitoes and feverish delusions to their enemies.
CN Deity with the Chaos, Plant, Water, Saurian and Trickery(Ambush) domains.
Krewlod, the barbarian tribes of goblins and orcs, worship their Ancestors. A tribunal of wise ancestors that decide on how you lived your life, they put freedom and honour above many other things and rarely have denied someone their place in the afterlife. Only one such case is known.
TN deity with the Animal, Glory, Liberation,Strength and War domains
Bracada, the country of studious wizards don't believe in gods, they have an immortal King named Gavin Magnus and believe rather in the power of magic itself. So they follow more of an ideal in the pursuit of knowledge and power. Magic, Knowledge, Artifice and Air domains, with many also relating to the other elemental domains.
The Dwarves of the Barrow Downs and Stone city, live deep in the earth and revere their Ancestor as well, though differently than Krewlod. The Ancetor they revere is one that is called the Father of the Dwarves, Greygarm Stonehold. A master craftsman and mountain warrior, he had laid the foundations of Stone City and cleared the tunnels of many a powerful creature in his time. Stern but just, he is LN with the Artifice, Community, Earth, Law and Rune domains.
Nighon, the land of warlocks and destructive mages, worship the counterpart of the Gold Dragon Queen. The ancient Black Dragon called Tarromack, a spiteful and destructive force which few men have seen and lived to tell the tale. It is said he has been around to witness the time before the Silence. rumors have him abound living close to or in Thunderfist Mountain in Nighon.
CE deity with the Destruction, Earth, Evil, Chaos and Dragon domains.
Eofol is the land of the devils now, a few years back this land was lucious and green and home to the halflings of Antagarich. They don't worship gods for they know better, they follow their ideal of conquest and expansion, but adhere to strict codes and plans of their leaders.
LE with the Law, Evil, Fire and War domains.
Deyja is the land of the necromancers, they have a worship of Death and power and foul magic in their lands. If they revere people in life/undeath usually they kill them and take their place. However some revere the first lich ever, Shah Mequist, also referred to as The First or The Darkest One, as a symbol of power that can be attained.
NE, Darkness, Death, Evil and Trickery domains.
There are several small relgions as well that still survive in small pockets. The churches of the Sun and the churches of the Moon are still locked in bitter twist, rivalry and war.
The elves of Vori live on a snowy island to the north-west of the main continent and no one has seen them for ages, nobody is quite sure as to what they worship or what their culture is like.
Their is a small foothold by the Church of Baa, a Church dedicated to the worship of devil and demons, instigated and supported by the devils of Eofol.
Lastly there are the halflings that escpaed from Eofol, their religion/ideal is less talked about but many know that they like to travel and experience a lot in life. (Luck, Travel, Liberation, Community)

Elenzar the Bastard |

Any chance the favored weapon of The Gold Dragon Queen is the rapier or even curved blade. Though if I am not going Magus I would to love learn that the reason I am not that great at using my rapier is that it actually an even curved blade. I am trying to make any change subtle if I make it.

I might be a little slow on posting for the next few months, my wife is pregnant with our 4th child due in October and this one is giving her a run for her money. We've already had multiple hospital visits and it's not looking like there going to end soon. Do to this I've had to take a few sick days from work to play Mr. Mom to our other 3 which leave little time for posting. If I have not posted for over a day and you would like to move the story along I give the Storyteller my permission to post on my behalf.
