"Akuma? I am not familiar with this term."

She glanced at the file, especially the personal history section. "Ah. This is some sort of rival ninja clan? I don't know many ninja...you said she...You don't mean Kitty do you? Red hair, tiny horns, tail with a pointed barb, has a tiny blue drake familiar with her? Your accent does sound similar to hers."

"Hai!" Midori responds excitedly, as Nala's description matches the girl whom she had attacked. Then she realizes that if sensei knows the girl... something is definitely not right. Had she made a mistake? "Zamarosok-sensei... is she not an Akuma?"

"I have no idea. She might be. I've never asked her about her family. Kitty has been a student here for some time. How much time is hard to figure out since she had a major invisibility problem when she first got here. I don't think you need to worry about her. Kitty isn't prone to violence."

"You said the Akuma ambushed you on the road? If Kitty is an Akuma I'm guessing they were worried that you lot were going to attack her. However, whatever conflict exists between your two families, it stays outside this school. While you are a student at Avalon, it is against the rules to attack another student."

Ardiente smiles, encouraged by Raelle's enthusiasm. "Yes, of course. It's not much, but you may keep it if you want to. I could even make it more detailed, if you give me time." Ardiente waves his other open palm at the ground, spreading and smoothing over the hole so that there is only a slight dip where he had pulled the stone from. "I... Raelle I'm not a Firebird. Not all the way, anyway. My family... they probably already know. Maybe not about the ability, but about my lineage. They would have to. I... just found out today." it was somehow getting easier to accept. His heart didn't wrench quite so much this time. Especially since Raelle was there, and seemed so very keen on his ability.

Midori finally realizes what she's done. Her face is pale. "Sensei, I was aiming to kill her. What if I succeeded? I have to go find her." Her parents had told her that she would be safe from the war at Avalon. She was too young they had said. Maybe she wouldn't have to be scared of every shadow here. First she had a wrong to right, if sensei gave her permission.

"Oh, wow, that's a lot to take in, huh? Geez. That puts things in perspective. That's a lot more to process than just being some kind of weird genetic anomaly...."

She put a hand on his. "Well, so what? You look like a firebird and you have more of the abilities of one than I do and I am a 'pureblood' not that it matters. You're still you. And you're still my friend. I know how much it hurts. I...I understand why your family would have kept this secret. they probably wanted to protect you. I bet you're crazy scared right now. I know I would be in your situation. Heck, I'm scared in my situation.....I know my parents won't abandon me, but my grandparents...they'll probably want to pretend like I don't exist now. And...how are we even supposed to deal with that? Some of the family is okay and some isn't and...it's all just a mess."

"Just...I'll still be your friend. Even if you get abjured. Not that that makes everything better. Just...I thought it might help a little."

"Luckily the wards prevent that possibility. Had you gravely wounded her, she would have been teleported directly to the infirmary. So I am sure that Kitty is fine. But I think that going and apologizing for your misunderstanding would be an excellent idea."

"Well, if it's a reincarnation thing, there may be some residual magics even if the genetics aren't supporting that theory. Let's just run an extra scan and this time I'll get more detailed information. Kezzin, just stay still on the platform there. Thanks."

"Okay, here goes."

She examined the readout. At first it was just like before. And then the whole thing went nuts.

"Whatever you were Kezzin, I don't think it was a dragon. That is way too much power. Even a great wyrm doesn't have magic like that!"

He twists his free hand wrist again, and the statue (which is about the size of a small fist) seems to grow just a little more detailed. Raelle can see little bandoliers with smokesticks in the bird's talons now, and a pattern on the wing which resembles the one on her arm. "I didn't want to make your pain seem insignificant, I just thought it would help you to know that I know what you're feeling. And if I get abjured... and if your Grandparents want to pretend you don't exist... their loss, right?" Ardiente is looking at her with a touch of wonder. A couple minutes ago he had been on the edge of despair. She had rescued him... and maybe he had helped her a little too. Ardiente had slowly turned his hand right-side-up and clasped the hand Raelle had offered.

"The wall can guide me to her, yes sensei?" Midori was still in something of a panic... at least, as panicked as the polite child could be. Perhaps 'in a hurry' is a better description. She had attacked an innocent person. No provocation, no contract, no war. She had to apologize.

Armed with knowledge about the walls, Midori hurries from Nala's office (if she permits it), barely remembering to bow and thank her sensei before she's off at speed, following the arrows through the hallway.

"Exactly! They don't appreciate what they're missing!"

"So why does it still hurt so much when they sneer and look down their noses? Well....maybe not as much now. It helps not being alone. It's harder when you're the only one."

"Wow! I can't believe the level of detail you were able to get on this statue! That's really amazing!" She paused and thought about it. "Maybe that's what Phaezeriel was talking about when he was telling me how amazing my new abilities are. They didn't feel amazing to me. I was just worried about what all these changes were gonna mean. It's kinda terrifying. More terrifying for you. Your family....what's gonna happen to them?"

"I don't know, Raelle. I wish I could say. I wasn't going to tell anyone. I wasn't even going to tell you until you told me about your new powers." he adds a little apologetically, "But... there was someone spying on Professor Sunwake and I. She did the tests." he said by way of explanation. "I fear the... cat is out of the bag." Nasty vulgar expression. He makes a face. Cats.

"I don't know what is going to happen." his hand was still holding hers. Not tightly, just in a comfortable, easy manner. "But, I'll have you know that as a retainer to your family, it is my duty to protect your honour. So if anyone sneers at you, they'll have to answer to me." Raelle gets the idea that he's trying to return to his flamboyant self with such an over-the-top gesture, but his voice is still quiet, sincere. "Uniqueness such as yours should never be sneered at." Raelle has an impression that 'uniqueness' wasn't his first choice of word, but decided against whatever he was going to say.

Lang finished his waterbending lesson for the day, proud of his progress. I wonder if Ignace is interested in my progress, probably not, she still has a way to go bewfore she is ready to share in that.

Lang is a little sad that Ignace isn't interested in Lang's success yet but after the story Morrivan shared he is starting to understand.

Sorun, I'm sorry I have something important going on for dinner maybe I'll see you later tonight or tomorrow in class ok? I had a great time, I hope we can swim together soon Lang gives Sorun a bow and smiles expressing the joy of considering Sorun a friend.

Lang heads back to his room and comes back to his favorite spot and set up a blanket for a picnic dinner.

Sun comes over still dripping wet.

Oh sorry Sun and Lang uses a blast of warm air to dry Sun off.

Ok Sun you wait here and watch our stuff. I'll go get some dinner for us. Lets see I need you bag of special meal, my noodles and soup, and enough Firebird type dinner for Chara and Ignace. I hope they come

Lang heads off to the cafeteria to get everything.

The wizened old man holds out his wrinkled palm

"O your a sneaky one, but I can see that could give you a great number of attempts on my part so how about this as a little caveat, if the next reduced the level of favor is also a wash out, then it is lost, this them means you have to ask what can be achieved and not ask for a vast number of impossible undertakings by me. Deal"

He takes the old wizened hand.

The man grins and shakes

"This shall be the baseline for this and future deals, Any changes can be brought up before the sealing of the next contract."

Then opens the thin wooden case containing a book labled: Technomages: The arts of Technology and Magic

"This is worth a lesser favor."

[Edit]

The book is old but in good condition... on the front is a lock holding the book shut,

"I think this book should interest you..."

EDIT

The Handshake:

Ok johnny is going to scan 'The Mage' so he can ID him in the future, this is a school after all that has other who can change shape. So in that hand shake.

Lore Keeper (Ex): Tactile Scanners. 41
You can touch a creature to learn about its abilities and weaknesses. With a successful touch attack, you gain information as if you made the appropriate Knowledge skill check with a result equal to 15 + your cleric level + your Wisdom modifier.

All johnny is after is to know, this real mage from any fake one. etc.

Johnny add,
"Good that will be the standing deal unless we bother agree a change to it as per the agreement for ea..."

Then s/he eyes go wide as s/he see's the book.

"Pops wha..."

Johnny takes the book, Technomages: The arts of Technology and Magic.

"So there is a way to link tech and magic, coooool"

S/he looks at the cover, they are indescribably dense in text and some new form of math.

"Can I look at its contents if I agree?"

Johnny finds it hard to pull s/he eyes away from the book.

The peddler pulls out a key...

"look at any three pages of the text. No more... then tell me if you think it is worth the price"

The mage sets the key on the table

Johnny opens it and reads three pages at random, there seems to be layers of text, in a vastly dense from.

but from what s/he can read of the top layers it seems to show, a way to link technology with magic in a highly complicated but do-able way.

::"What do you think Storm?"::

::"Johnny that book from what your letting me see, holds to the key, I am trying to analyze its root forms but once you have the whole book, I believe it will show you how to mimic or even integrate what is called 'magic' here into you Bio tech. I am not saying it will work just that from all the info we have collected today, this seems the only thing that holds a clue as to how you get to grips with magic."::

::"Ok thanks"::

"This book and the key to open it for one lesser favor, on agreement this book becomes mine with condition to read and use as and when I see it, that means the key to its lock being part of the book and also covered by our pre-agreed on stranded contract."

Johnny smiles that smile.

"Deal," the old man smiles as they shake hands again. "I have one last thing to sell to you. This information comes from a reliable yet undiscloseable source at a very steep price, one major favor and one regular favor. this agreement must be made before I tell you any information other than this:"

Johnny:
"it is about your family"

"Be my guest. I love seeing my machines challenged!" Raz presses a few buttons on the machine, setting it to "Process -> Antidote" and pulling open a small tray. "Just put the poison in there and we'll have the results shortly. We may have to wait until class is over though." He adds, glancing over his shoulder at the students showing up for Advanced Alchemy.

"Please keep it. It's supposed to remind you that you shouldn't be ashamed of what you are. I wish I could make it more beautiful, I am told art is supposed to reflect reality." Ardiente says matter-of-factly, as if it were obvious that the statue didn't compare to the real thing.

She laughed. "Flatterer. Although I appreciate the sentiment."

She hugged him lightly. "Rest, feel better. I'll go do the same and I guess we'll just deal with the rest of what happens as it happens."

She left carrying the small statue, having completely forgotten about Skeets, and headed back to her room.

Lnag heads to the cafeteria gathering all the food for his picnic. looking about for Sun's meal time gift.

he grabs a covered bowl of rice with noodles and soup. he also looks for a nice basket that isn't being used for some special meal selections that firebirds would enjoy.

scanning around at the other students hoping to see some firebirds and watching what they pick and taking some of the same things.

after gathering enough for himself and Sun and his potential two guests Lang heads back to the garden to set everything up.

Then sits back. "Is there anything else you would like to buy?"
he holds up a hissing vial "a potion for your lover's pleasure?"
then points to a beautifully carved swan shaped vial "a poison for your enemies? anything?"

Ardiente returns the hug gently, and sighs after she has gone. Well, at least you know she doesn't feel the same way about you. Best to just let it go. She's still a wonderful friend.

Realizing he should probably stretch before he completely seizes up, Ardiente takes about 10 minutes working through the various muscle groups in a practiced routine. Eventually he lays back down on the cot - content somehow, despite everything. He was worried about his family, but somehow that seemed distant at the moment.

Ehos was seated rather worriedly in the dining hall. It had been a good day. The classes after lunch had passed in a blur. But... He wasn't sure what to do afterwards. Should he go looking for Jaiye? Wait for her to find him? What were they going to do tonight? Looking at comic books? Resume their... lunchtime session?

The morning after was always awkward, and it wasn't even the 'morning after' yet. Ehos settled on going to the cafeteria early and picking up dinner for both of them, hoping to at least allow her to avoid the line. Her picked for her the rarest, juiciest steak he could find, along with a small serving of boiled carrots. She didn't like the stuff, but he had seen her eat some veggies recently. He wondered if that was healthy for a lycan or not.
