The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Jaiye isn't quite sure what to make of the new girl. She prowled around the room, restless. Her clothing was pretty much the antithesis of Anahita's, tight and not covering any more than absolutely necessary, her tail curling up from under her very short skirt.

"Hey, Ehos, did you ever get a chance to check out that comic book I recommended?" she asked, trying to find some area of conversation that doesn't leave her looking like an idiot.

'Uh which one was that?' Ehos wavered slightly, unsteady on his feet. He uses Anahita for support, offering her a smile. Jaiye's canine senses can pick up the smell of alcohol even at a distance. One might also remark that the datapad displayed 'uh', which means he consciously put it there.

Tyrrin finally glances over at the sound of voices, sees her brother leaning on the arm of a dark-skinned human girl, with Jaiye prowling around. She did that when she was nervous or uncomfortable... and Tyrrin could tell why. The girl on Ehos' arm... there was something about here. "Sorry, I'll be another minute or so. Forgive my rudeness." Tyrrin says directly to Anahita, before turning back to the final calibrations. She was so close to being done, she couldn't stop now.

Jaiye's ears drooped. "Never mind. I'll just be over here feeling even more stupid than I did five minutes ago."

Something about this new girl was just setting her on edge. She felt ugly as well as stupid in comparison. It was moments like this when she missed her old habit of beating people up when they embarrassed or confused her.

Wyrd looks like a nearly seven foot tall iron statue of a barbarian. If he were sculpted, the level of detail would stagger the most skilled of artisans.

Wyrd nods to Anahita and smiles, "Greetings, Anahita. Welcome to Avalon."

"That sounds sad...to think of someplace beautiful slowly dying around you...."

"That certainly explains a lot of the attitude that I've observed from the firebirds who came here last year."

Giving a polite nod to Wyrd, Anahita smiles as well to Tyrrin, then looks back to Ehos with a sideways glance of .. something. She then politely assists Ehos to some seat, so he doesn't stagger alone.

>> I wonder if he even realizes that this feline woman may like him. << She thinks quietly to herself.

Then looking about, she approaches Jaiye asking, "Excuse me, but I have never met someone as unique as you appear to be, may we speak? I am curious of where you come from. I am a new student here in the school being guided about in my astonishment and wonder of all that I see. If I were to," she looks off towards the panels of computers and such, "not have assistance, I might surely injure myself or get lost." Then she looks back to Jaiye and asks, "Have you been in this school long?"

Anahita may sound somewhat diplomatic, but, there's no forced effort to bend any sense of friendship, merely an attempt to meet as equals between two females.

If something moves or stirs near her though, Anahita glances over quickly to stare at it, in wonder. That is, until it might repeat itself more than twice. She seems to be learning quickly of all the wonders.

She does, however, keep an eye on Ehos, so he doesn't pass out or something. Clearly a nurse like concern.

Tyrrin glanced over, a little annoyed. She didn't like it when Jaiye was self-deprecating. The lycan had plenty of worthy qualities, even if vast sums of knowledge wasn't among them. Tyrrin felt that she was a little at fault. Maybe she should do something with Jaiye... some sort of outdoor sport or something, to show that she was good at things which Tyrrin did not excel. A task for later. Tyrrin returned to her work.

Jaiye's ears swivelled forward and she eyed Anahita warily. "I've been here for a couple years. I'm not that unique around here. There's lots of lycans here. And you can't get lost in the school....you can always use the arrows."

She was trying hard to be diplomatic like Tyrrin had taught her. You get more people to do what you want that way, she reminded herself.

"And, I hope, something of an explanation for my own outburst earlier." Ardiente didn't linger on that point too long, as a delightful sound reached his ears. Silence. The last band before FAIN had stopped. FAIN would be taking the stage right away. The somber mood forgotten, Ardiente perks up. "I think FAIN is gonna play!" the flame he had been managing suddenly gets brighter. He still has his manners though, and offers Tamina his arm, practically bouncing with excitement.

Ehos had taken the floor next to Wyrd as his seat. He still remembered the first day Ehos had been at Avalon... he and Wyrd had spent the day peacefully sitting in the gardens. Wyrd had been his first friend here, and he hadn't forgotten that. There was a weird tension in the air, and Jaiye was acting strange. She was normally relaxed... she seemed spooked almost. Had something happened between her and Tyrrin?

Ladies and Gentleman, the most perceptive male in the world, Ehos.

Female Human Teenager

"Lycan. I will assume it is as I hear it then, the race of shifters. A pleasure to meet you and speak with you, you are the first .. if I am not mistaken, feline Lycan I have ever had the chance to talk to." This nets Jaiye a warm smile with a slight gesture to indicate her ears and tail.

"I've been instructed about the arrows, but there is ..so much, that is distracting to me. Everything," Anahita says with a sweep of her hand to indicate the room, Wyrd and more, "is .. new. I am doing all I can not to be overwhelmed and run back to the Garden again to center myself."

With that, she smiles at Jaiye and seems to realize she's standing, somewhat alone, in a room with various odd and curious things, not really sure what to do. She seems to decide on stepping to the side, away from blinking lights and sounds, if any, while keeping her eyes slightly on Ehos as needed.

Looking back at Wyrd, she studies him for a while and then asks, "Are you a construct, a golem? or .. something else, Wyrd? I feel a .. connection, but am uncertain." It is evident, however, that Anahita is studying him as if merely looking would tell her that tale.

@Ehos: Is it an male thing, or a drunk thing? ;)

Image

Jaiye's ears flattened out and she couldn't quite stifle the instinctive growl entirely. "I am NOT feline!" she said, shifting into her full animal form of a spotted hyena. She bared her teeth before getting her instincts back under control and shifting back to her (mostly) human appearance. She tried to focus on breathing exercises like Tyrrin had showed her to keep her cool in these situations. "I am a were-hyena," she said through gritted teeth. "Hyenas are only slightly related to felinids....I....apologize for my outburst....It is kinda a sore subject," she said, keeping her fists tightly closed as she forced herself to be polite when all she really wanted to do was rip the new girl's throat out. She was surprised herself at the ferocity of her reaction. Even when she'd been running with the Pack, she didn't usually get so territorial.

Image

After what seemed like an eternity Sorchan came back into the room.

"As a teacher, there's absolutely nothing I can do as neither of you have broken any school rules."

"As a parent, my instinct is to ground you until you're thirty, young lady," he said sternly to Raelle. "But as I was just reminded, that sort of tactic usually backfires. So you will be going back to the concert....and you will spend the rest of it with me so I can be absolutely certain that you don't get into any further trouble. And I will be keeping a close eye on both of you for the foreseeable future."

Male Earth Elemental (Type Unknown) Unknown

Wyrd looks up to Anahita again, and she gets the impression he had not been paying any attention to what was happening in the room, I am told by those who study such things that what I am is an elemental of sorts. I do not know if it is true, and I do not lose much sleep over not knowing. I am the earth. The earth is me. We are the same and yet different.

Female Human Teenager

Lynora, does Jaiye have any spots or other indicators of being hyena? Boo! I might have noticed. Thought she was a cat person.

Anahita doesn't exactly flinch or move back, nodding at Jaiye, "I was not aware, given what I can see. I meant no offense." She gives Jaiye a hint of a bow in politeness.

"Your apology is unnecessary, I took no offense at your natural actions. I can only assume, given your body language and current agitation, that I am causing you some discomfort, or agitation standing here. Since this is your territory, and I am the new comer, I am quite happy to depart. I would not wish to cause further issue." She seems to blend some diplomacy skills along with an innate understanding of animal temperament into the response, giving Jaiye a full sense of respect and her own offered withdrawal without losing 'face'.

Anahita then backs up from Jaiye, warmly smiling, giving her more room. She walks over to the other side of Wyrd and nods to him. She changes her language and speaks to him in the Terran tongue.

"Я приветствую вас, Земля и ваше присутствие здесь."

Wyrd, Terran:
"I greet you, Earth, and your presence here." Best characters I could find, Cyrillic, for 'earthy written speak'

She then looks back over to Ehos, and the others in the room, walking towards the doorway. "Ehos, as it is clear these people are your friends, apparently engaged in some wonderful event, I shall bid my farewell and give my thanks to you, for your kindness in guiding me earlier and keeping, a stranger to this amazing place, me company these past hours. Continue to drink water, you are, what I would call, affected by a poison. It should pass, given what I've seen of your progress." She puts a hand on his shoulder, gives it a brief light pat, then steps out without looking back. The action there with Ehos is quick and succinct.

Walking out of the tower, she starts to descend the path that brought them up, and returns down to the school, unless.. she spots a way onto the rooftops!

Seeing a potential leaping spot for the rooftops, Anahita takes a few quick running steps and leaps the distance, rather skillfully due to her velocity, rolling and coming up to her feet with a proud smile. She then runs off to explore the roof, seeking out where the Garden is from above. In a relatively short time, she does find it, and sits with her legs hanging down the edge of the building where the form of the dragon may have been previously, admiring the scenery from up high.

Jaiye's ears drooped. "I...I'm sorry...I didn't mean....I'll just be.....I'll just be somewhere else," she said sadly, backing out of the room after Anahita's rooftop exit. She'd completely screwed that up. Stupid, stupid, stupid! Why did she have to go and act like that? She'd worked so hard to be seen as more than an animal, and then boom! Just like that, she was right back where she started.

Damnit, ninja'd by 5 seconds... I think this works though.
The biggest problem with not being able to make noise was that you couldn't interject when this sort of thing happened. It didn't help that it took Ehos a few tries to get up, and before he could do anything, Anahita was gone. Furious, he rounds of Jaiye.'What the hell?!' the words on the datapad have gone from white to red in his anger 'She's new! She made a mistake! You could've been nicer about that!'

Image

"I...I'm sorry," she repeated, outright fleeing now. She changed from human to hyena as she turned and ran away from the observatory as fast as her four legs could carry her, not even pausing until she reached the one place she felt truly safe....the library. She curled up on the beanbag chair set in front of the shelf holding her favorite comic books and changed back into a human girl, sobbing.

It was now Tyrrin's turn to be angry. She had been watching the exchange from the moment she heard Jaiye snarl. She knew Anahita was never in any real danger - the wards around the school would protect her, and Tyrrin was interested to know how this newcomer would deal with the threat. Very gracefully it would seem, despite fleeing the scene. Tyrrin was just getting up to comfort Jaiye when Ehos began to chew her out. Jaiye fled the room, leaving Tyrrin, Ehos and Wyrd alone. Ignoring the golem for the moment, Tyrrin stalked up to her brother, seething. "You know very well that Jaiye has instincts she can't always control. She's working hard at being better at controlling them. What's your excuse? Too deep in your cup again? Is is it that only women you want to f*ck that get your respect? Go apologize, now. She'll be in her nook at the library, if I know her." Tyrrin weighed the pros and cons of what she was about to do. She continued, "You deserve this," Slapping her brother across the face as hard as she could manage, before being teleported away to detention.

Sits in the Library, reading on the foundings of the various towns on Agartha. He looks up as he sees a hyena run in. Perplexed, he goes to see what that was. He's not really suprised by much that occurs here anymore, but that is indeed peculiar. Upon finding a crying girl, he is even more flabberghasted. He stares awkwardly for a few seconds before...

"Uh, miss? You ok?"

Male Elf Bard 14/Sorcerer (Maestro) 14

Ehos stood there, shocked. The slap had sobered him up quickly, and still stung, despite the protection of the wards. What is wrong with me? Jaiye was his friend. Sure, she had lost her temper a bit, but she had already apologized he went off on her. That Tyrrin was willing to slap him.. to break the rules... that pierced through the haze of the booze.

Ehos slunk after Jaiye, feeling like crap. At least Anahita had left before he had embarassed himself. When he found Jaiye, he felt even worse. She was crying. He softly padded up to her, knelt beside her on the chair. His head down, he holds up the datapad. 'I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been so angry at you. Forgive me?' Jaiye can see the red mark of a hand on his face.

Edit: Ack, ninja'd again and no time to revise. Sorry.

Ahhh. Ignace/ He asks hoping he not about to say something stupid

Have you been going to this school for a while? I mean, what's it like when the classes starts and all
Lang tries to be cool but fails miserably

what I mean is, I've never been to "school" before I've only ever been privately taught in the temple by Master Hito. Would you like to...ahhh...Help me adjust to this new place, I mean this is only my second day here and all

Lang looks at her with a big "Please" in his eyes

No problem. Since you padded up, Ghalen is probably unware you;re there till you actually go to sit by her...

"Ahh. You know her? Umm. Very good. If you'll excuse me, then..."

Wyrd watches the lightning fast exchange, the increased tempers, the painful emotions and before he can react, he is alone in the observatory. He would have interfered, but the last time he tried that when people were letting their emotions run away with them did not turn out so well. Instead he just stands up and walks over to the telescope and admires the obvious craftsmanship for several moments. After a bit he looks around the room at the obviously delicate nature of the equipment here. Nodding to himself, he studies the dome until he can understand the mechanics that operate the opening, then he closes the dome up and steps outside the only door to the observatory and sits down with his back to the door. Again, molten iron flows and Wyrd relaxes into his full size, effectively blocking the door behind him as he leans against the stone wall.

The stage went dark and conversation in the concert hall slowly started to die out as people realized that FAIN was getting ready to take the stage.

Fieri tossed little fire spheres into the canisters that she had carefully placed at the edge of the stage, the chemicals inside igniting in huge towers of colored sparks as she did. The lights came up slowly as the music started.

'I'm pretty sure she knew that when she did it.' he said, once again feeling guilty. He'd made a right mess of things. He hadn't actually managed to cheer up Jaiye at all. He was bad at this. He wasn't used to comforting crying girls. He was used to talking to them after a drink and a performance. Or being berated by his mother or sister. 'Jaiye, I'm sorry. "Yeah, well, trying doesn't get you very far," she said, dejected. "Tell your friend I'm sorry for being rude the next time you see her. I'm gonna go see if I can talk a teacher into letting Tyrrin out of detention."

Male Firebird Monk (Master of Many Styles, Martial Artist) 16 // [CLASSIFIED] 16

Ardiente cheers unabashedly and un-ironically as the music began. Honestly it was a little embarassing for Tamina who was standing next to him. He hadn't heard this one before. Something about it reminded him of the conversation he and Tamina had in the gardens.

"Welcome back to another school year at Avalon. And for those who are joining us for the first time...you'll get used to the insanity soon enough." ;).The redheaded lead singer was really cute. She was wearing a dress in the colors of flame and the way the skirt was cut it fluttered around her like flames as she moved.
"For those of you who don't already know us, we are FAIN. I'm Fieri. Pan is on guitar," she said pointing out a green-haired, green-skinned boy who waved briefly. "Spike plays bass," she said waving towards the cantaur with a tall blue mohawk. He'd also dyed his tail to match. "And Bonnie on the drums," she said, stepping to the side so the audience could get a good look at the silver skinned aasimar girl twirling her drumsticks.

[i]There was loud cheering from the firebird contingent as the band started playing their second song.

Male Elf Bard 14/Sorcerer (Maestro) 14

Ehos watches Jaiye go, unsure of what to say or do. After she's gone, he silently pounds the ground, frustrated with himself. He was always screwing up. That's why he had became a bard. If he could travel the world, at least his screw-ups wouldn't affect his friends or family.

So much for my good day.

"Okay, this next one is going to be a little bit of a change of pace, so bear with us. You know us musical types....we always like to change things up," she said, winking. "But I think you're gonna like it."

Fieri stepped back from the microphone and picked up an electric violin off of its stand, letting Pan take the lead vocals on their third song.

Female Elf Gestalt Sorcerer (Starsoul) 16/Oracle (Heavens) 16

Tyrrin was pretty sure this form of torture should be outlawed, let alone used as punishment in detention. She had tried to cast a silence spell around herself to block out the noise, but there was an anti-magic field in effect around her. Why had she ever agreed to let Rocks Fall play at the concert?

Male Icy Catfolk Image Warlock/Rogue 16

Tybalt is very noticeably uncomfortable around all the pyrotechnics and has been gripping the table harshly claws dug deep into the wood with his hair standing straight up. Some of his new female friends attempt to comfort him and dislodge his claws from the table. As the second song comes on he attempts to back further away from the stage. This is unsuccessful due to the fact that he is still 'nailed' into the table. " Too much fire." He croaks weakly. Deeply worrying his entourage as they try to console him. He obviously would very much like the music if not for the effect. (Other than the second song of course bad lyrics for him)

As the third song ended, Fieri rushed to put her instrument back on its stand as they segued right into what was undoubtedly the most energetic number of their set. This was the song that she would be running around the most for since it had the most pyrotechnics.

Both Doppelganger Except younger looking Factotum 16/Taskshaper 6/Chameleon 10(Gestalt)

As soon as FAIN starts to play, Ace drags Ginni onto the dance floor. "Now this is more my kind of music" He says with a grin, and begins to really dance, truly showing off his skills totally spending a MoI to add +13 to my Dancing, lol

When their second song starts, he let's out a small shout of joy "I love this song!!"

Male sorcerer 16 wilder (leader/telepath) 3 elocater 2, thrallherd 1, pyrokineticist 10.

Dave nods to Raelle's dad figuring that speaking would not be the best of ideas and that he should let him cool down given that he's both a dad and a firebird that may be a while;) but he does not shy away, he looks sorchan in the eyes delibratly before slowly turning to Raelle and smiling and walks back to the auditorium with her, thankfully arriving just in time.

wow lotta catch up
